Wallace Hanna
Wallace Hanna, 76, of Alma died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at his home. He was born June 25, 1926, in Alma. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired truck driver for Atlus Truck Lines, a carpenter and of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his wife, Alla; three daughters, Mona Parker and Debbie Dean, both of Alma, and Sandra Hood of Mississippi; a son, Ross Hanna of Conway; a sister, Gladys Butler of Alma; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 13 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Cain Cemetery in Mountainburg.
Pallbearers were Landon Parker, Zach Dean, Dustin Moore, Chop Jones, Rodney Huckey and Gary Whigham.

Laverna Weese
Laverna Louise Weese, 81, of Alma died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Mackay of Fort Smith and Carolyn Hett of Stockton, Calif.; three sons, Gene Weese of Knox City, Mo., David Weese of Acampo, Calif., and Allen Weese of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters, Bernice Price and Ruby Dillard, both of Alma, and Lula Cook of Fort Smith; four brothers, Paul Adams of Paradise, Calif., James Adams of Alma, Donald Adams of Seattle and Drennon Adams of Spokane, Wash.; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral serevice was held Feb. 15 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Alma.
Pallbearers were her nephews and cousins.

Larry Hendrix
Larry Lee Hendrix, 59, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Mulberry. He was an employee of Standard Register for 35 years, a graduate of Alma High School, a volunteer Judo coach at Fayetteville Youth Center for many years and a member and elder at Oak Manor Christian Church.
Funeral service was held Feb. 15 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville with burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; a son, Terry Hendrix of Dallas; his parents, Curtis and Sylvia Hendrix of Mountainburg; two sisters, Carolyn Philpot of Fort Smith and Shirley Brisco of Van Buren; a brother, Milton Hendrix of Mountainburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ on Campus, 310 Arkansas Ave., Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Rodney Sallee
Rodney Joe Sallee, 45, of Sapulpa, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at a Sapulpa hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Marlin and Yvonne Sallee of Fort Smith; a sister, Debbie Jones of Van Buren; three brothers, Marlin Sallee II and Victor Sallee, both of Fort Smith, and Eric Sallee of Van Buren; and a lifelong friend and partner, LeRoy Wasson of Sapulpa, Okla.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Bynum, Pat Walton, Joseph Watts, Greg Keith and Matthew Sallee. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Sallee, Billy Rhynes, Paul Bollinger and Jim Rogers.
A memorial service was held Feb. 15 at Floral Haven Chapel in Tulsa.

Deborah Ellington
Deborah L. Ellington, 50, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 13,2003, at a local hospital. She was a member of Rena Road Christian Church.
She is survived by her mother, Gwen Bass of Van Buren; two sisters, Paula Ellington and Karen Richards, both of Van Buren; a brother, Jimmy Bass of Fort Smith; seven aunts and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 15 at Rena Road Christian Church with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Turner, J.R. and John Smith, Herby Anderson, Burl Harlow and Brian Summerhill. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews, Jimmy, Gerry and Joey Bass and Eric Richards.

Mike Scott
Philip Michael “Mike” Scott, 49, of McAlester, Okla., formerly of Van Buren, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, in McAlester. He was a former salesman for Southern Cigar and Candy Co. in Fort Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Candy Constantine of Okmulgee, Okla.; two sons, Matthew Scott of Norman, Okla., and Lucas Scott of Okmulgee; one sister, Sue Stahlheber of McAlester; and one brother, Jon Scott of Van Buren.
A memorial service was held March 12 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren.

Paul Summerhill
Paul Fenley Summerhill, 92, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1910, in Texarkana, Texas. He was Air Force veteran of World War II where he spent most of his five-year tour on the South Pacific island of New Calcdonia. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, after 30 years as an air craft inspector. He was a member of Van Buren First Assembly of God Church and Alma Senior Inn.
Survivors include his wife, Margorie; one daughter, Paula Thompson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one son, David George Summerhill of Pettaluma, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alma Senior Inn.

Rufus Holt
Rufus A. Holt, 86 of Mulberry died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Alma. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He was a committee member of the ASCS of Crawford County for more than 20 years. He was a longtime resident of the Turner community and active in the community where he served as a board member for several years. He also was a Pope Cemetery board member.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three daughters, Willie Jones of Mulberry, Wilma McDaniel of Owasso, Okla., and Marilyn Marshall of Dyer; two sons, Jesse Holt of Ringold, Ga., and the Rev. David Holt of Ozark; a sister, Josie Lea Brown of Clarksville; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral servide was held Feb. 10 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with burial at Pope Cemetery in Crawford County under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rufus A. Holt Memorial Scholarship Fund at Mountainburg High School.

Bill Biggerstaff
Bill Biggerstaff, 86, of Barling died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired truck driver for Dyke Brothers Lumber Co. and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Nettie Biggerstaff.
He is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Hodges of Van Buren, Nelda Wilkerson of Rudy and Patricia of California; three sons, Robert Biggerstaff of Lavaca, Jimmy Biggerstaff of Virginia and James McCutcheon of Rudy; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial with military honors was at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Christopher Biggerstaff, Jeffery, Eddie and Jimmy McCutcheon, Daniel and Robert Wilkerson and Doug and Billy Mills.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Barling and Lavaca Senior Citizens groups.

Jack Brown
Jack H. Brown, 85, of Alma died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at his home. He was a member of Bible Mission Church in Alma, was retired from Allen Canning Co. in Alma and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Alma Cemetery in Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie; three daughters, Patsy Hatley of Fort Smith, Jackie Harris of Alma and Linda Gabbard of Mountainburg; a sister, Ruth Brown of Alma; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joe Belt
Joe Belt, 89, of Van Buren died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Van Buren. He was a retired farmer and the widower of Lola Belt.
He is survived by a son, Jessie Ray Hobbs of Tehachapi, Calif.; a sister, Emma Blasingame of Mulberry; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were William, Jackie, Mark, Jason, Nathan and Joel Boen and Jeff and Steven Black.

Rev. Frankie Pollard
DYER — The Rev. Frankie D. Pollard, 71, of Dyer died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired minister with Assembly of God in Oklahoma and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothey; two daughters, Nancy Beckham of Lewisville, Texas, and Karrie Retherford of Buena Vista, Colo.; two sons, Robin Pollard of Anadarko, Okla., and Dale Pollard of Dyer; four sisters, Sylvia Hawhee and Jannete Pollard, both of Bedford, Iowa, Joan Cox of Kansas City, Mo., and Jean Richmond of Hazen; a brother, Wayne Pollard of Vilonia; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Feb. 7 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Dyer Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers were Dale and Robin Pollard, Tim, Brian and Jeremy Beckham and Darrell Retherford.
