Lauren Sory
Lauren Lynn Sory, infant daughter of Wendi and Courtney Sory of Ozark, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at a local hospital.
Graveside service was held Feb. 3 at Cemetery Ridge Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Glen Sory of the home; maternal grandparents, Harold and Lavonna Gatewood of Alma and Terri and Arthur Holland of Bryant; paternal grandparents, Fluffy Sory of Ozark and Larry and Cheryl Sory of Ozark; maternal great-grandparents, Ruth Gatewood of Greenwood and Roger and Sandy Carty of Mulberry; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Vere Carty of Alma.

Margaret Durham
Margaret Alice Durham, 79, of Fort Smith died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in her home. She was a retired waitress for food services at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and a member of Central Baptist Church, Ladies Auxiliary and Good Samaritans. She was the widow of Bobby Durham.
She is survived by four daughters, Karla Goodwin, Billie Valentini and Deloris Biocic, all of Fort Smith, and Teresia Herrington of Midland; two sisters, Delema Eldridge and Odell Keller, both of Van Buren; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Central Baptist Church with burial at Newberry Chapel Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were James and Alton Keller, J.C. Cartwright, David Reamy and Chuck and Cody Mahar.
Honorary pallbearers were her Sunday school class, The Truth Seekers.

Phillip Taylor
Phillip George Taylor, 50, of Alma died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at his home. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Taylor; four sons, Phillip Allen Taylor of Muldrow, William A. Taylor of Mountainburg and Donald G. Taylor and Jason R. Taylor, both of Alma; and three grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Jan. 30 at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Jirad Blankenship, Curtis Nixon and Phillip Allen, Donald G., William A. and Jason R. Taylor.

Harold Lobdill
Harold Taylor Lobdill, 73, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at a local hospital. He was an Army veteran, a graduate of University of Arkansas and attended Butterfield Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter, Sherry Grizzle of Fort Smith; two stepdaughters, Barbara Burcham of Fort Smith and Beverly Kelley of Cecil; two stepsons, Fred Elder of Killeen, Texas, and Carl Kimes of Lavaca ; a sister, Olive Neal of Van Buren; a brother, Robert Lobdill of Van Buren; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 30 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Mark Chase, Peter Morgan, Matt Burcham, Vince Overby and Bradley Grizzle.

Ruth Kennedy
Ruth Hedei Kennedy, 93, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at her home. She was a Baptist and a retired department store clerk.
Graveside service was held Jan. 30 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Verl; and a sister, Camilla McCraney of Richmond, Va.

A. Lucille Radley
A. Lucille Radley, 78, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in Paris. She was a homemaker, member of First Assembly of God and widow of John Radley.
Graveside service was held Jan. 30 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Gwethlyn McCray of Santa Maria, Calif., and Kelly Grant of Van Buren; two sons, Jerry Radley of Mulberry and Marvin Radley of Stinnett, Texas; a sister, Patricia Stewart of Fort Smith; a brother, George Ball of Cottage Grove, Wis.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Blanchie Gist
Blanchie M. Gist, 85, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a retired housekeeper for Sparks Regional Medical Center, member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and widow of James Albert Gist.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Gist of Alma, James “Jim” Gist of Van Buren and Jerry Gist of Greenwood; one brother, John Fondren of Fort Smith; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Jan. 30 at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry, Jim, Johnny and Kelly Gist, Ryan Wann and John C. Fondren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church, c/o Jolly Travelers, 3900 Grand Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Donna Coker
Donna Kay Coker, 47, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at her home. She was an employee of Tyson Food and member of West-Ark Church of God in Fort Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Darden; four daughters, Jennifer Madison and Jessica Poor, both of Van Buren, Sara White of Alma and Samantha Coker of the home; one son, Cameron Coker of the home; her mother, Frances Smith of Dalton, Ga.; one sister, Paula Gordon of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Gerald Foster of Rocky Face, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 30 at West-Ark Church of Christ with burial at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers were Dustin Medley, Craig Madison, Richard Poor, Shannon White, Ray Medley and David Chamberlain.

Shryl Thompson
Shryl Lynn Thompson, 41, of Fort Smith entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born June 10, 1962, in Los Angeles. Shryl was a former production supervisor for Klein Tool and a graduate of Alma High School. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard “Dick” Chase.
Shryl is survived by a daughter, Melissa Palmer of Fort Smith; a son, Justin Thompson of Van Buren; Junior Thompson the father of her two children; her mother, Wynema “Chase” Thomas and stepfather, Ted Thomas of Fort Smith; two brothers, Richard Chase of California and Stephen Chase of Fort Smith; one grandchild, Justice Palmer and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Jan. 27 at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Paul Stiegler, Richard and Stephen Chase, Joey Palmer, Billy Ray Thompson and Alvaro Ruiz. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Hamilton
Dorothy Marie Hamilton, 82, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Mena to William S. Bodine and Anna E. Turner Bodine. She was a retired real estate agent, she attended the Gospel Rescue Mission in Van Buren, she was a member of the Van Buren Art Center, RSVP, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Embroidery Guild. She was preceded in death by her son Gene of Spiro.
Funeral service was held Jan. 31 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Gillion of Joshua, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jo Alice Hamilton of Spiro; a sister, Billie Burychka of Denham Springs, La.; five grandchildren, Jackie Hamilton and his wife, Dottie of Jacksonville, Fla., Wayne Hamilton and his wife, Joni of Montgomery, Texas, Donna Miller and her husband, Paco of Joshua, Texas, Mike Gillion and his wife, Vickie of Spiro, and Jody Fanning and her husband, Karl of Broken Arrow, Okla.; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary and Haley Allen of Joshua, Texas, Stephanie and Zachary Hamilton of Jacksonville, Fla., Clay, Mason and Samantha Gillion of Spiro, and Emily and Jackie Hamilton of Montgomery, Texas.

Norma Kellar
Norma Lea Kellar, 85, of Dumas, Texas, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in Van Buren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas, Texas, born in the Oliver Springs Community and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the widow of the late James Wallas Kellar, beautician and homemaker.
Norma is survived by one son, James Ferrel Kellar of Bastrop, Texas; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Jan. 31 at the Oliver Springs Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

W.J. Frye
W.J. “Bill” Frye, 90, of Van Buren died Thursday, March 25, 2004, in Fayetteville. He was the retired owner/operator of Frye’s Tasty Bakery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frye; a son, R.J. Frye of Van Buren; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service was held March 29 at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were William Frye, Robert Frye Jr., David Frye, Dustin Frye, Aaron Frye and Randall Munday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission, 201 Drennen, Van Buren, AR, 72956.

Carol Bain
Carol Jean Bain, 61, of Van Buren died Friday, March 26, 2004, at her home. She was a waitress and a Baptist.
Funeral was held March 30 in Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren. The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff; a daughter, Wendy Wisner of the home; three stepdaughters, Laura Barker, Nicki Hall and Della Bain, all of Hammond, La.; a brother, Mike Pierce of Oregon; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
