Loren Girton
Loren “Jim” Girton, 54, of Van Buren, formerly of Sand Springs, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at his home. He was employed by Fort Smith Blueprint.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita; and a sister, Loretta Williams of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Graveside service was held Aug. 30 at Fairview Cemetery
in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were James, Ronnie and Brent Frazier, Josh and Larry Williams Jr. and Jason Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Gregory, Ethan Gregory, Maverick Frasier and Jesse Paxton.
Don Spangler
Don Spangler, 63, of Alma died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Alma. He was a maintenance supervisor in the jet engine shop for the Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a son, Shannon Spangler of Little Rock; two sisters, Carol Ascheman of Clontarf, Minn., and Eula McDaniel of Van Buren; a brother, Eugene Spangler of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Aug. 31 in Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery
in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Ralph Shepherd, Gary Finney, Mark Ruth, Bobby Moore, Wayne Newell and Bill Douglas.

H.C. Lane
H.C. Lane, 80, of Lawton, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, in Lawton. The native of Mulberry was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Central Baptist Church, Mount Scott Masonic Lodge No. 540 and Disabled American Veterans. He retired from civil service in 1979 and worked as a custodian for Lawton Public Schools from 1980 to 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy; two daughters, Kathy Brumbeloe of Lagrange, Ga., and Shelia Ann Sessoms of Lawton; two sisters, Mary House of Alma and Dorothy Finney of Fort Smith; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Aug. 28 at Becker Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Veteran’s Field of Honor at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bobby Taylor
Bobby C. Taylor, 70, of Alma died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at local hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Van Buren. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Alma, an Air Force veteran, a 1951 graduate of Alma High School, a well-known Realtor in Crawford County area for many years, co-founder of Arkansas Land Agency and a member of Crawford County Board of Realtors. During recent years he and his wife traveled extensively with computer services. At the time of his retirement he was associated with American Equity Realty.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ima Jean Taylor of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Darrel Russell of Little Rock; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Pat Taylor of Alma; two sisters, Wanda Belt and husband, Odean of Alma and Sharon Wilson and husband, Jimmy of Van Buren; a brother, Jackie Taylor and wife, Patricia of Alma; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Ball of Alma and Rosa Clark and her husband, Jim of Barling; two grandchildren, Courtney Russell of Ozark and Hillary Russell of Fayetteville; two stepgrandchildren, Melissa Carpenter and Kenny Snow, both of Alma; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Nathan Lopez, Danielle and Kyle DeLozier, all of Alma.
Funeral service was held Aug. 28 at First Baptist Church in Alma with burial at Evergreen Cemetery
in Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Jerry Osborne, Wesley Warnock, Burl Sangster, Steve Whitlock, Darrell Hays, Pete Titsworth, Doug Bailey and Don Moak.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons and members of Adult 5 Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Alma.
Jack Keeton
Jack Buddy Keeton, 70, of Van Buren died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Van Buren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Buren and founding member of The Old Fort Woodcarvers Association. He was retired from Tennessee Foods.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Dana Murray of Lonoke and Landy Westphal of Greenwood; a sister, Betty Stabler of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Aug. 31 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery
in Fort Smith.

Betty Jo Bradley
Betty Jo Finton Bradley, age 74, of Searcy passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. She was born May 1, 1930, to the late Hugh and Vinita Harrington Finton in Oklahoma City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O. (serving as chapter president in Aurora, Mo.) and a hospital volunteer (Pink Ladies), also in Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom Burt Bradley; one son, Dr. Sam B. Bradley, his wife, Mitzi Noble Bradley, and their children, Drew Bradley of Fayetteville and Morgan Bradley York and her husband, Wade of Fort Smith; two daughters, Dr. Neta Bradley Wood, her husband, Doug, and their children, Douglas and Stephanie of Jonesboro; and Sharon Bradley Hill, her husband, James, and their children, Jennifer and Jonathan of Jackson, Tenn.; two brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, with the Rev. Mike Morey officiating. Burial will follow at White County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harriet Hitchcock
Harriet Hitchcock, 70, of Van Buren died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at a local hospital. She was an auctioneer, seamstress, school bus driver, graphic artist and widow of Dallas Hitchcock.
The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. The ashes will be scattered in California at a later date.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Davis of Van Buren; a son, William Hitchcock of Van Buren; four sisters, Mary Foy and Rose Machurek, both of Pocatello, Idaho, Margaret Townsend of Parkland, Wash., and Beverly Bell of Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers, Bob Brinkmeier of Tulsa and Fred Brinkmeier of La Mesa, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Daniel Adamson
Daniel Adamson, 51, of Mountainburg died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
The body will be cremated under the directions of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. No service will be held.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica; a daughter, Melissa Krouse of Taylorville, Ill.; two sons, Ronnie Krouse of Mountainburg and Quai Ballentine of Bangkok, Thailand; and six grandchildren.
Leathel Baxter
Leathel Lillian Baxter, 96, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at a nursing home. She was born in Mulberry, was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Aug. 26 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery
in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Eugene Ree, Gerald Venable, Doyle Wood, Lester and Sherman Hopwood and Jimmy Burkhart.
Geneva Sexton
Geneva “Jenny” Sexton, 49, of Winchester, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004. She attended the Ellisville Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Randy Sexton of St. Louis; parents, William C. “Bill” and Lois Sexton of Van Buren; one brother, Randall Sexton; two sisters, Betty Ashworth and Sheryl Harden; and one grandchild.
Funeral service was held Aug. 25 at Schrader Funeral Home in Ballwin, Mo., with burial at Bethel Cemetery.

Daniel Ray
Funeral service for Daniel Leon Ray, 63, of Cumming, Ga., were held Aug. 20, 2004, at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, Ala. Burial was at Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday,
Mr. Ray died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at his residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Arkansas to Dewey John Ray and Mae Thelma Shreckengaust Ray. He was a self-employed salesman in the field of transportation. He was a 1959 Van Buren High graduate and a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Long Ray; three daughters, Susan and Martin Veenschoten of San Francisco, Ashlei and Che Jordan of Sausalito, Calif., and Meredith Ray of Birmingham; three stepchildren, Beth and Brian Westbrooks of Cumming, Ga., David and Tanya Rider of Jemison, Ala., and John Rider of Dawsonville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Avery and Alden Westbrooks of Cumming, Ga.; four brothers, Artie and Velma Ray, Richard and Martha Ray, and Emil and Barbara Ray, all of Van Buren, and Jerry Ray of Mountain Home; four sisters, Mildred and Kenny Bogard of Union, Mo., and Ruth Allene Peterson, Norma Jean Brasuell, and Polly and Bobby Bryant, all of Van Buren; and his former wife, Sarah McNeill of Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Dewey Ray Jr. Melvin Ray, David Ray and Donald Ray; and one sister, Clara Dunham all of Van Buren.

Deborah Lynn Hughes, 48, of Rudy died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at a local hospital. She was employed by Home Health as a licensed practical nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas; one daughter, Angela Gasca of Rudy; one son, Randall Burkett of Rudy; her mother, Nancy Drummond of Rudy; two sisters, Laurie Hayes and Vickie Slayton, both of Fayetteville; two brothers, Brian Drummond of Fayetteville and Danny Drummond of Greenland; and three grandchildren.
