DR. DOYLE J. BREWER
Dr. Doyle J. Brewer, 81, of Blytheville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Born in Fifty-six, the son of Ambrose and Anis Mealer Brewer, he was a longtime Blytheville resident and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, an active Gideon and served on the Mississippi County Mission Board. Dr. Brewer was the owner of Brewer Chiropractic Clinic, an associate professor at Life College of Chiropractic in Atlanta and served as a representative for the state of Arkansas to the International Chiropractic Association for 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps, having been stationed at Bakersfield, Calif., as an X-ray technician throughout his service career.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.
Dr. Brewer leaves his wife, Daisy Harris Brewer of the home;
One son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jamie Brewer of Albon, Ill.; and
One granddaughter, Kayla Brewer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Blytheville, with the Rev. Bill Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 715 W. Walnut St. in Blytheville or Gideons International.
JOSEPH 'JOE' WILLIE DAVIS
Mr. Joseph "Joe" Willie Davis, 52, of Osceola, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and had been a resident of Mississippi County for 52 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Davis and Hattie Davis.
Mr. Davis leaves his daughters, Hattie Davis and Barbara Davis, both of Saginaw, Mich., Angela Jones and Willona Davis, both of Osceola, and Lawanda Davis of Jonesboro;
His brothers, Patrick Davis, Lawrence Davis, Darin Davis and Tommy Lee Davis, all of Illinois, Calvin Davis of California, Melvin Davis of Indianapolis, Tony Davis of Iowa and Charles Davis and Sammy Davis, both of Osceola; and
Twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with the Rev. Moses Black officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteside Cemetery
in Osceola.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
EARL FLOYD
Mr. Earl Floyd, 84, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his home. Born Dec. 26, 1918, in Selmer, Tenn., the son of Will Floyd and Virginia Oswell Floyd, he was employed by the Brown Shoe Co. of Caruthersville for over 28 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the U.S. Army and received his honorable discharge Nov. 15, 1943.
He was united in marriage to Ivie Floyd, who preceded him in death in 1982. He later married Christine Pearlie Reagon, who preceded him in death May 31, 2002. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Steele, Mo.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gene Floyd.
Mr. Floyd leaves four sons, Billy Floyd of Caruthersville, Ricky Floyd of Tulsa, Okla., and Danny Robertson and Glenn Robertson, both of Steele;
One daughter, Phyllis Kennedy of Steele;
One brother, Tom Floyd of Kansas City, Mo.;
Seventeen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and
A number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with the Rev. John Badgley and the Rev. Gary Andrews officiating. Burial followed in the Little Prairie Cemetery
in Caruthersville. Pallbearers were Greg Payne, Ricky Floyd, Danny Robertson, Glenn Robertson, Brian Kennedy and Charles Robertson Jr.
CLIFFORD RAY HALL
Mr. Clifford Ray Hall, 53, of Manila, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Manila, the son of John and Vady Lambert Hall, he had been a lifelong Manila resident. He was a retired commercial fisherman and a member of the Manila Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hall leaves his wife, Betty Hall of Manila;
Three sons, Casey Hall, John Hall and David Hall, all of Manila; and
Two brothers, Vernon Hall and Lance Mullins, both of Manila.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Manila Cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery
under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
MAVIS HARRIS
Mrs. Mavis Harris of Little Elm, Texas, formerly of Blytheville died today at her home. She was the widow of Ernest Harris.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville.
LEE MONROE HEALEY
Mr. Lee Monroe Healey, 71, of Leachville, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at his home. Born in Manila, the son of Claude and Maggie Moore Healey, he had been a Leachville resident for most of his life. He was retired from the Brown Shoe Co. and was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Healey, in 1999.
Mr. Healey leaves one son, Vic LaRue Healey of Leachville;
Four daughters, Lavenda Hood of Wilson, Karen Chipman of Manila, Sandra Davis of Hoxie and Paula George of Tishomingo, Miss.;
Two brothers, Claude William, "Dub" Healey Jr. of Yuma, Ariz., and Virgil Healey of Dallas;
One sister, Betty Bowen of Trumann; and
Thirteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one very special nephew, Danny Odom.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville, with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
BARRY CLIFTON LUCKIE
Mr. Barry Clifton Luckie, 40, of Osceola, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Osceola. He was a member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church. He was an associate minister and a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Luckie.
Mr. Luckie leaves his mother, Martha Moore of Osceola;
His daughter, Takeisha Luckie of Osceola;
His sisters, Nedra Cook of Osceola, Vickie Richardson of Blytheville and Patricia Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.;
His brothers, Jimmie Luckie Jr. and Donnell Luckie, both of Osceola, and Glenn V. Luckie of Killeen, Texas; and
One grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola. Pastor Michael McKinnie officiated, and burial followed in Whiteside Cemetery
in Osceola.
L.C. 'CEEWEE' ROYSTER JR.
Mr. L.C. "CeeWee" Royster Jr., 40, of Osceola, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Osceola. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Royster Sr.
Mr. Royster leaves his mother, Earnestine Royster;
His sisters, Brenda Royster of Memphis, Tenn., Shirley Tedford of Osceola, Daphne Royster and Kimberly Greene, both of St. Louis, and Rhonda Royster of Sacramento, Calif.; and
Her bothers, Thomas Walker and John Curtis Knighten, both of Osceola.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with the Rev. Moses Black officiating.
Burial will follow in Whiteside Cemetery
in Osceola.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
JOHNNY LAFATE TUCKER
Mr. Johnny Lafate Tucker, 58, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Born March 23, 1945, the son of Theodore Tucker and Faithan Wigginton Tucker, he attended Caruthersville schools. He later attended Kansas State University and graduated from Texas Christian University.
He was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Tuckers was a police officer with the Pittsburg, Kan., police department and later was engaged in the ranching business. He was of the Episcopal faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Tucker leaves one son, Johnny Wade Tucker of Los Angeles;
One brother, Theodore Tucker of Dayton, Texas;
Three sisters, Mary Logan of Dayton, Louise Sanders of Beaumont, Texas, and Shirley Thomas of Devers, Texas; and
One aunt and a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Maple Cemetery
in Caruthersville, with Father Joe Campbell officiating.
The H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
MERRILYN JUNE WILLIAMS KINCHEN
Mrs. Merrilyn June Williams Kinchen, 67, of Fredericksburg, Texas, formerly of Manila, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at her home. Born in Manila, the daughter of John Williams, she had been a resident of Fredericksburg for the past 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Kinchen leaves her husband, Al Kinchen of Fredericksburg;
Two sons, Randy Kinchen of Fredericksburg and Michael Kinchen of Boerne, Texas;
One daughter, Bethany Simpson of Fredericksburg;
Her mother, Mrs. Hester Williams Clayton of Manila; and
One sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Douglas Walker of Manila.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Manila Cemetery, with Howard Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.
No visitation will be conducted.
