Mrs. Alice J. Lee

Mrs. Alice J. Melton White Lee, 77, of Ozark died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.

She was a native of Chelsea, Okla., daughter of the late Charles and Wilhelmena Young Melton, preceded in death by spouse, Ralph W. White, longtime member of the First Christian Church of Fort Smith, and attended the Harmony Presbyterian Church near Clarksville.

Survivors include her husband, Coy Lee; four daughters, Rena White Lawrence of Winter Park, Fla., Mary White Hill of Newberry, Fla., Vicki White Muratore of Wichita, Kan., and Ann White Briggs of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Mary Florine Crownover of Clinton; and five grandchildren, Lauri Varnadore, Christy Pease, Megan McKinzie, Eric Briggs and Gemma Briggs.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church with Dr. Stanley Farmer and Rev. Rita Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Mrs. Axie May Ramsey

Mrs. Axie May Ramsey, 91, of Huntsville died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Meadowview Lodge in Huntsville.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Clarksville, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Sams Young, widow of Jack Ramsey, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Jolena York, and one grandson, Larry Lee.

She is survived by one sister, Arah Skaggs of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the Nail Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Young and Ed Murrell officiating.

Burial was in Nail Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Johnny Floyd Skaggs Jr., James Eric Skaggs, Edd Young, Ted Young, Ed Murrell, and Billy Lee.

Honorary pallbearers were Mark Laughter, J. F. Skaggs, Hank Morrell, Wash Laughter, J. D. Mahan, and Homer Skaggs.

Anthony Spiotto Jr.

Anthony Spiotto Jr., 59, of Clarksville died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

He was retired, Air Force veteran, Catholic, and son of the late Anthony and Mary Hellen Huss Spiotto.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Virginia Marie Dean Spiotto; three sons, James Michael Spiotto of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anthony Spiotto III and Gaetano (Guy) Mario, both of Clarksville; one daughter-in-law, Jody Ann Spiotto of Clarksville; one sister, Rita Sue Daura of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Richard Guyett of Portland, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Victor Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Hartman.

Mrs. Genevieve Simpson

Mrs. Genevieve Clark Simpson died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Tulsa, Okla.

She was a former resident of Johnson County, daughter of the late John and Arra Clark, and widow of W. W. (Woody) Simpson.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bobby Joe and Rowena Simpson, one grandson and one granddaughter of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Leon Clark of Tulsa, Okla.; and three sisters, Ruth Henley of California, Lola Partain of Tulsa, Okla., and Norma Jean Gentry of Clarksville.

Funeral and burial will be in Tulsa, Okla., and will be announced later.

James E. Epperson

James Edward Epperson, 93, of Salisbury, N. C., a native of Marshall County, Tenn., died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at the Brian Center Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salisbury, N. C.

He was owner and manager of the Ford Hotel in Clarksville for 30 years, served as president of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Boys Club and was active in the First United Methodist Church where he served as president of the Fellowship Class.

Prior to moving to Arkansas he operated the Dixie Hotel in Shelbyville, Tenn., as well as restaurants in Lewisburg and Fayetteville, Tenn., and in California. He retired in 1978 and moved to Salisbury, N. C., in 1987.

He was a son of the late William Lee and Sara Cathey Epperson, educated in Tennessee Schools in Marshall and Williamson counties and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Fanny Mary Register Epperson.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James Register and Lucinda Covington Epperson of Salisbury, N. C.; two grandchildren, Heather Epperson Fazakerley of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Robert Eugene Epperson of Durham, N. C.; and one great-grandchild, Chandra Fazakerley.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to the Rowan Public Library, 201 West Fisher Street, Salisbury, N. C. 28144.

Mrs. Mary Redus White

Mrs. Mary Redus White, 100, of Clarksville died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Mountain Home, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Alice Brown Redus, widow of Charles Turner White, graduate of Galloway College in Searcy, and a member of the Clarksville First United Methodist Church where she served as choir director and secretary for several years.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Edward Poyner of Clarksville; and one granddaughter and spouse, Nancy A. and Herbert Bassett of Albuquerque, N. M.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Harrison with Rev. David Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 535, Clarksville, AR 72830 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Ruth McAuley

Mrs. Ruth McAuley, 93, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Fort Madison, Iowa, daughter of the late Murdock Joseph and Ruby May South Campbell, member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Johnson County Daughters of the American Revolution, Johnson County Retired Teachers Association, and Johnson Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, and a retired teacher.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. John Robert McAuley of Clarksville and Morgan Michael McAuley and Patrick Connolly McAuley, both of Austin, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Rosary was at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Msgr. Leo Riedmueller officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

The body was cremated.

Mrs. Loreda Brooks

Mrs. Loreda Brooks, 90, of Ozark, formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was a native of Honey Grove, Texas, daughter of the late James William and Mary Alice Raney Wilkerson, and widow of Andy Brooks.

She is survived by two stepsons, Clyde Betner of Fayetteville and Connie Betner of Quitman; and one sister-in-law, May Lewis of Lamar.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Lamar Cemetery with Rev. Lonnie Sheppard officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Carl H. Roden

Carl H. Roden, 69, of Knoxville died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a licensed master mechanic, Army veteran, and son of the late Louis Otto and Hallie Bell Simpson Roden.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lois Fordahl Roden; four sons, Lee Roden of North Charlotte, S. C., Roy Roden and Dan Roden, both of Knoxville, and Guy Roden of Fort Irwin, Calif.; three sisters, Louise Yates of Denver, Colo., Leila Knox of Clay Center, Kan., and June Porter of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Louis Roden of Grand Junction, Colo., and August Roden of Eldorado, Texas; one grandson, Brandon Roden of Fort Irwin, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Countryside Manor Nursing Home Activities Fund, P. O. Box 579, Lamar, AR 72846.
