Earnest (Buck) Smith

Earnest (Buck) Smith, 64, of Clarksville died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at a Hot Springs hospital.

A native of Clarksville, he was a Baptist, former employee of Carter Truck Lines and Renae Sims Lumber Company, and retired from Clarksville Fire Department after 22 years of service. He was preceded in death by one son, Roger Smith; and one granddaughter, Monica Bridgewater.

He is survived by three daughters, Leah Bridgewater of Clarksville, Marsha Smith of Conway, and Elizabeth Smith of Knoxville; three sons, Michael Smith of Clarksville and Joshua Smith and Jamie Smith, both of Knoxville; parents, Ishmeal and Maggie Smith of Lamar; three sisters, Dorothy Sue Cummings of Gore, Okla., Marilyn Holt of Clarksville, and Brenda Elsey of Webbers Falls, Okla.; one stepbrother, Jim Smith of Lamar; one daughter-in-law, Sissy Smith of Clarksville; and four grandchildren, Trinity Smith, Roger Smith, Kenny Bridgewater and Klayton Bridgewater.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial was at West Mount Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Benton Childress, James Childress, Randy Childress, Ronnie Ritchie, Lynard Buffington, Kyle Holt, Rodger Boen, and Billy Wade.

Floyd G. Ervin Jr.

Floyd G. Ervin Jr., 51, of Ozark, brother of Candy Crawley of Clarksville, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Ozark.

He was a native of Charleston, self-employed carpenter, graduate of Arkansas Tech University, member of Ozark First United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by his father, Floyd G. Ervin Sr.

Other survivors include one daughter, Sarah Ervin of Fort Smith; one son, Arthur Ervin of Fort Smith; mother, Mary Ann Rambo Ervin of Ozark; one brother, Larry Ervin of Ozark; two nieces, Brandy Teer of Ozark and Sonya Ervin of the U. S. Navy; and one nephew, Cassidy Crawley of Clarksville.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Ozark.

Pallbearers were Joe Powell, Robert Via, Olen McCabe, Ronnie Roe, Marty Barcheers, and Lonnie Turner.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 503 West Commercial, Ozark, AR 72949.

James Darrell Hausler

James Darrell Hausler, 63, of Clarksville died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

He was a native of Alva, Okla., member of Lamar Baptist Church, graduate of Higgins ( Texas) High School and Texas Tech with a civil engineer degree, attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, was a missionary with Arkansas Southern Baptist Convention, served 20 years with the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in Paraguay, Argentina, and other South America countries, and formerly served in the U. S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean Hausler; one daughter, Shari Simpson of Sherwood; one son, J. D. Hausler of Mayflower; parents, Tom and Lorraine Hausler of Higgins, Texas; one sister, Norlene Steinle of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Tom Hausler of Dripping Springs, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Simpson, Stephanie Simpson, Jamie Simpson, and Candace Simpson, all of Sherwood, and Hannah Hausler, Hunter Hausler, Holly Hausler, and Harrison Hausler, all of Mayflower.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Lamar Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Fowler and Jimmy Barretine officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

J. P. Mason Jr.

J. P. Mason Jr., 73, of Clarksville died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his home.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Price (Laura Foulke) Mason Sr., member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Navy veteran, retired soil conservation service employee, and retired company commander of the National Guard.

Survivors include his widow, Peggy North Mason; two sisters, Mary Jane Allen of Texarkana and Anna Sue England of Ingleside, Texas; and three brothers, James E. Mason and Earl Mason, both of Clarksville, and David Mason of Hagarville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Mt. Olive Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nease officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Mason, Brent Mason, Eugene McGuire, Fred J. Kauffeld, Alvin Mason, and James Duff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Morgan and Leroy Davis.

Keith Jones

Keith Jones, 28, of Altus died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Altus.

He was an automotive repairman and member of the Ozark Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Ruby Catlinger Jones of Altus; paternal grandparents, Benard and Leona Jones of Seymour, Texas; maternal grandparents, LaVelle and Juanita Catlinger of Altus; one sister, Rhonda Musgrove of Altus; and two brothers, Kyle Jones of Fayetteville and Ronnie Jones of Altus.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark.

Pallbearers were Scott Jessup, Ethan Maestri, Rick Covert, Tom Musgrove, and Paul Maestri.

Rene S. Brewer

Rene S. Brewer, 37, of Springfield, Ill., died Dec. 28, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 10, 1963, in Springfield, Ill., to Roy L. and Judy M. Pickrel Johnson, a former resident of Clarksville, where she was a former Girl Scout Troop leader, and a former employee of Digital Equipment Company in Dallas, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, James Pat Brewer; one son, Morris Brewer of Springdale; two daughters, Marissa Lorraine Judith Brewer of Springfield, Ill., and Toni Brewer of Dallas, Texas; mother, Judy Johnson of Springfield, Ill.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Julie L. Johnson of Riverton, Ill., Christine Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Helen M. and Paul Smith of Summerfield, La.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springfield, Ill., with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating.

Ronnie Dale Mills

Ronnie Dale Mills, 43, of Atkins died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his home.

A native of Clarksville, he was a construction worker, attended Atkins School, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Jewell Mills and Issac and Selma Tipton.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Kaye Mills of Atkins; parents, Robert and Louise Mills of Atkins; one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Ernie Hoffman of Atkins; one brother, Richard Lee Mills of Atkins; and two nephews.

Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the Union Grove Cemetery with Rev. Thom Walker officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Wayne H. Thompson

Wayne H. Thompson, 69, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired welder and son of the late Olin and Doris Thompson.

He has no known survivors.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Hagarville Cemetery with Mike Eppinette officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
