Michael L. Warren
Michael L. Warren, 50, of Ozone died Monday, May 14, 2001, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident 9.8 miles north of the Highway 21 and 64 intersection in Clarksville.
He was a retired Dow Chemical employee, Army veteran, and son of the late Audrey Inez Warren.
Survivors include his widow, Barbara Stepp Warren; one daughter, Jennifer Thompson of Kingwood, Texas; one son, Andrew Warren of Oak Harbor, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Joyce Dobbs of Hartman; one stepson, Sammy Stokes of Clarksville; parent, Bobbie Lee Warren of Ozone, one sister and brother-in-law, Susanne and Lanny Bicio of Ozone; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, at the Russell Cemetery
at Ozone with Rev. Bob Herod officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Joe Merkling, Earl Molten, Allen Hill, Darrel Canon, Jimbo Stepp, and Bob Hency.
Honorary pallbearers were Sammy Stokes, Eugene Hill, William Hill, and Michael Dobbs.
Opal Onella Melson
Opal Onella Melson, 78, of Clarksville died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Cicero and Tugle Baskin Baxter, widow of Zanna Melson, and was preceded in death by two sons, Dane Melson and Wayne Melson.
She is survived by three sisters, Hazel Taverner of Ozone, Fern Taverner of Clarksville, and Betty Hignite of Houston, Texas; and one granddaughter, Paula Archer of Little Rock.
Private services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Colton Dean Chrisman
Colton Dean Chrisman, infant son of Kara and Adam Chrisman of Clarksville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
Other survivors include grandparents, Rhonda and Bob Mooney of Clarksville and Merrie and Bill Chrisman of Hartman; great-grandparents, Katie and Jack Cecil, Wanda Mooney, and Dean Mooney, all of Clarksville, Helen Skow of Littleton, Colo., and Babe and Leo Chrisman of Hartman; and great-great-grandfather, Orville Marvel of Hartman.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Oakland Cemetery
with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Columbus Jones
Columbus Jones, 86, of Lamar died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
He was a son of the late Elihu and Bethany McAlister Jones, retired El Paso Natural Gas Company employee, a member of the Strawberry Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by two sons, William Jones and James Robert Jones; two sisters, Sarah Townsend and Leona Pitts; and three brothers, Granville Jones, Elmer Jones, and Leonard Jones.
Survivors include his widow, Ruby Qualls Jones; one daughter, Gwendall Owens of Lamar; one son, Columbus Wayne Jones of Farmington, N. M.; five sisters, Beulah Tumbleson and Nanalou Hodges, both of Dexter, Mo., Eula Owen of Lamar, Iva Rushing of Clarksville, and Earlene Davis of Russellville; two brothers, Ira Jones and Elihu Jones, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Strawberry Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bill Richmond and Rev. George Willis officiating.
Burial was in the Minnow Creek Cemetery
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dutch Houston, Bill Patterson, Bobby Cooper, Wendell Self, Cecil Jones, and Joe Carter.
Mabel D. Jones
Mabel D. Jones, 89, of Coal Hill died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Monte and Mary Kinkennon Dennis and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Harold Krachey of Coal Hill; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body was cremated.
Ray Talley
Ray Talley, 61, of Dardanelle, father of Brenda Talley of Dardanelle, died Monday, July 30, 2001, in St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle.
Ada Mills
Ada Mills, 89, died Sunday night, Sept. 30, 2001, in her Clarksville home.
A native of Prairie Grove, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Belle Simmons Parks, and widow of Joe B. Mills.
She was a successful businesswoman. In Clarksville, she and her husband founded and operated Ozark Hardwood Manufacturing Company, Mills Oil Company, Ozark Box and Crating Corporation, and Ozark Hardwood Lumber Company. In Caney, Kan., they operated F&M Box and Crating Corporation and in Texarkana, Texas, they founded and operated Texas Container Corporation.
In 1973, she was awarded the SBA Businessperson of the Year award and served on numerous local, state and national business commissions.
Mrs. Mills dedicated much of her life to her beloved alma mater, the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. On Christmas Eve, 1933, she and her husband were the first couple to be married in the then-new Ozarks chapel. She was president of the university's alumni association for many years, a member of its board of trustees, and was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in 1970.
Mrs. Mills was a nationally respected Republican. For over 40 years, she lead the campaign to build the Arkansas River bridge connecting Johnson and Logan counties, which was named for her. In 2000, she was awarded the Republican Party's Eagle Award for 50 years of outstanding service to the county, state and nation. Many state authorities list her as one of the original catalysts of Arkansas' current two-party system of government.
Survivors include one son, Jim Pat Mills of Clarksville and Dallas, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanie and Lee McCleskey of College Station, Texas, and Mary Tom Riley-O'Bar and Clyde O'Bar of Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amanda Mills of Dallas, Texas, Major Matt McCleskey of the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Derek McCleskey of Oak Hill, Va., Jarrett McCleskey of South Riding, Va., Kristin Moratzka of Dover, Del., Stephanie Eubanks of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Joe Jackson Riley of Lubbock, Texas; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Raymond Munger Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville with Rev. Aaron Barling, Rev. Lowell Eaton, Dr. Robert Brown, Abbot Jerome Kodell, O. S. B., Rev. Bill Woodard, and Governor Mike Huckabee officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery
under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be George McClaine, Phillip Sexton, Lee White, Harve Taylor, Tom Taylor, Garner Lee Taylor, Floyd Pledger, and Larry Isch.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Dorothy H. Love
Dorothy Totton Hunt Love, 75, of Sanders, Ariz., formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Sanders, Ariz.
She was a daughter of the late Dr. Earle and Ellen Totton Hutchison Hunt, native of Clarksville, graduate of Clarksville High School, former Clarksville High School food service director, former Senior Companion program director, past president of Chapter Q, PEO, lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, past director of the First United Methodist Church Mustard Seed, widow of Louis Lawrence Love, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Dee Love.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dottie and Doug Mason of Sanders, Ariz.; one son, W. Tracy Love of Clarksville; one sister, Lillian Zarwell of Clarksville; one brother and sister-in-law, Earle H. Jr. and Helen Hunt of Clarksville; and three grandchildren, Ronald A. (Drew) March and Eleanor L. March, both of Clarksville, and Nathan D. Mason of Sanders, Ariz.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery
under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
