Elsie H. Anderson

Elsie Henderson Anderson, 89, of Clarksville died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Russellville Nursing Center.

A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Mary Belling Sparks, widow of Arthur Henderson and Leonard Anderson, member of the Church of Christ and Lamar Chapter No. 516 Order of the Eastern Star, former co-owner and instructor of Clarksville Beauty College, retired beautician, and was preceded in death by two sons, Morris Henderson and Clarence Henderson; and three daughters, Madeleine Roof, Wanda Ross Callaham, and Tessie Lemley.

She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and W. L. Davis of Clarksville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William E. and Jackie Sparks of Wappapello, Mo., Boyd E. Sparks of Russellville, Thomas L. and Goldie Sparks of Belleville, Mich., and Allene Sparks of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces including Pat Sparks of Clarksville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Clarksville Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Edith E. Whitbey

Edith E. Whitbey, 90, of London died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

A native of Dardanelle, she was a daughter of the late James and Sally S. Higgins Trammell, member of Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond, Johnny and Ronald Gene Sapp.

Survivors include her husband, Arvy E. Whitbey; one son, Eddie E. Whitbey of London; one daughter, Rebecca Boxnick; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Roy Goates Jr. and Rev. Claude Jackson officiating.

Burial was in North New Hope Cemetery near Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Dennis Ward, Gary Ward, Chad Whitbey, Charles Cochran, Tim Julian, and Ronnie Wells.

Geraldine M. Scott

Geraldine M. Scott, 75, of Clarksville died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

She was a daughter of the late Jim and Sena C. Ottmaans Nunis, widow of David M. Scott, retired practical nurse, member of Grace Lutheran Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Gary James Schultz.

She is survived by three stepdaughters, Anna Lois Turner and Patty Qualls, both of Clarksville, and Lois Marie Carter of Illinois; two stepgrandchildren; and cousins, Stan and Leona Lohrenz of Lincoln, Ill.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Famuliner officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Leo Knoernschild, Don Langdon, Jeff Haas, Herman Ahrens, Edmund Drittler, and Clint Taylor.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 406, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Lowell W. Jones

Lowell W. Jones, 69, of Clarksville died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at his home.

He was a son of the late Earl Ernest and Lena Mae Mills Jones, retired self-employee, and affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his widow, Christina Marshall Jones; two sons, Ricky Brent Jones of Mau, Hawaii, and Rob Kent Jones of Bella Vista; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Randy Long officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Michael Ivey, David Ivey, Rusty Marshall, Matt Marshall, Steve Marshall, and Larry Hahs. Honorary pallbearer was Kent Jones.

Mary Alice Rake

Mary Alice Rake, 74, of Ozark, mother of James Hill and Bill Hill, both of Clarksville, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at her home.

Born in the Pilot Grove Community to James and Sarah Stockton Moten, she was a former restaurant owner and manager, and a Baptist.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Sue Petty of Little Rock and Shirley Davis and Sarah Halmes, both of Ozark; two other sons, Dennis Hill of Ozark and David Hill of Dardanelle; three stepdaughters, Renae Seago of Corrigan, Texas, Nancy Clarke of Austin, Texas, and Melinda Tybor of Wimberly, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Ted Darling officiating. Burial will be in Pilot Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Pilot Grove Cemetery Fund.

Nancy A. Yates

Nancy A. Yates, 54, of Hartman died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired nurse and daughter of the late Charles and Tillie McGuire Wallen.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Yates; two sons, John Yates of Hartman and Michale Scott Wallen of Wisconsin; four brothers, Jim Wallen, Paul Wallen, Gene Wallen, and Duane Wallen, all of Findlay, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Bertha L. Kimbrell

Bertha L. Kimbrell, 78, of Clarksville died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Floyd and Etta Riley Gipson and member of the Jamestown Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Parral and Peggy Pina, both of Freeport, Texas; three sons, Billy Osburn and Robert Osburn, both of Texas, and Jerry Osburn of Clarksville; one sister, Nita Smith of West Plain, Mo.; three brothers, Leroy Gipson and Junior Gipson, both of Clarksville, and J. C. Gipson of Fort Smith; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial in Kendall Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Barbara Lee Mefford

Barbara Lee Mefford, 63, of Knoxville died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was an employee of Arkansas Nuclear One, member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God in Clarksville, and daughter of the late Gus and Mildred Coop Schmidt.

Survivors include her husband, Don Mefford; one daughter, Caryl Sparks of Knoxville; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Debra Mefford of Springdale; one sister, Cheryl Michelow of Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Richard Schmidt of Denver, Colo.; and five grandchildren, Dylan Sparks and Chelisea Sparks, both of Knoxville, and Coty Mefford, Cari Doughty and Cody Doughty, all of Springdale.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Terry Schlinker and Rev. Eddie Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Mefford, Donnie Mefford, Lonnie Mefford, Deon Henson, Aubrey Mefford Jr., Michael Mefford, Harry Chips, Eric Harris, Don Lyle, and Danny Hattabaugh.
