William C. Key Sr.

William Clark Key Sr., 60, of Knoxville died Sunday, March 10, 2002, in North Logan County Memorial Hospital.

He was a son of the late I. C. and Elizabeth (Dib) Moore Key, native of Jackson, Tenn., retired Oster-Sunbeam Appliance employee, and was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Key Bond.

Survivors are his widow, Jessica Kirkpatrick Key; one daughter, Debbie Key of Jackson, Tenn.; one son, Clark Key of Jackson, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Angela Hughes of Clarksville and Leah Smith of Knoxville; five grandchildren; and one niece, Libby Wade Grisham of Rogers.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Knoxville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

W. B. (Bill) Waldo

W. B. (Bill) Waldo, 78, of Ozone died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his home.

He was a retired CPA, Methodist, Mason, Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War, son of the late Roy and Martha Boley Waldo, and was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Waldo.

Survivors are his widow, Butch Cowan Waldo; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Harold Copeland of Fort Smith; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Waldo of Lamar; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Art Anderson of Flushing, Mich.; one brother and sister-in-law, Gaylon and Pat Waldo of Granite City, Ill.; two grandsons and spouse, Jody and Donna K. Copeland of Clarksville and Richard Copeland of Fort Smith; one granddaughter, Tara Copeland of New York City, N. Y.; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Carly Copeland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Col. Bill Murray officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kenny Milam, Mike Asbury, Loyd George, Bill Downham, Hurlon Moore, and Brit Yount.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Harderson, Doug Carey, and Varnell (Dub) King.

Alton J. Askins

Alton Jervis (A. J.) Askins, 50, of Subiaco died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Heber Springs.

He was a former manager and co-owner of Cox Funeral Homes, mechanic at Clarksville Refrigerated Line, rancher, son of the late A. C. (Bud) Askins, and was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Askins.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Ann and Charlie Cowie of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Arron and Deanna Askins of Fort Smith; mother, Anna Mae Askins of Paris, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Ronnie Hibbs of Subiaco, Angel and Ray Fransisco and Karla and Leroy Lukins, all of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Diana Askins of Scranton; two grandchildren, Dakota and Tiera Askins; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery north of Subiaco.

Pallbearers were Larry Watts, Ron Grigsby, Joel Bankster, Herman Cunningham, Gary Watts, and Harlan Gattis.

Arlis F. Dotson Sr.

Arlis F. Dotson Sr., 80, of Subiaco, brother of Atha M. Inman and Anna Smedley, both of Clarksville; died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Paris from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was a 1940 graduate of Paris High School, attended Freed Hardiman College in Henderson, Tenn., retired sales manager for a farm equipment company, member of Midway Assembly of God Church, U. S. Army European Theater World War II veteran, member of VFW Post No. 8383, and was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel and Deloris Mullins Dotson; and one brother, John Paul Dotson.

Other survivors are six daugh-
ters, Dana Proffer of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dorothy Overman of Flint, Mich., Susie Perrine of Las Vegas, Nev., Dejon Kincer of Schertz, Texas, Diana Debolt of Midwest City, Okla., and Debbie Otto of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Arlis Dotson Jr. of Davison, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Midway Assembly of God Church with Rev. C. L. Haston officiating.

Burial was in the Horn Cemetery at Midway under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Pallbearers were Dennis Lowe, Doug Lowe, James Horne, Lindell Parsons, Curtis Varnell, and Gordon Trusty.

Austin R. Fikes

Austin Ramsey Fikes, 74, of Benton, father of Nancy Fikes of Clarksville, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002.

A native of Benton, he was a son of the late John and Austrilla Fikes, licensed pilot, taught flying and served on the county airport commission, deacon of First Baptist Church of Benton, retired from ALCOA after a 35-year career which included supervision of the Sinter plant operations, and a volunteer with CJCOHN, the Churches Joint Council On Human Need.

He is survived by his widow, Eleanor Fikes; one other daughter, Cindy Fikes of Benton; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Chris Covey Fikes of San Diego, Calif.; adopted daughter, Cindy Marie Hogue of Benton; two grandchildren, Anne and Austin Fikes; one brother, Stuart Fikes of Benton; one sister, Marion Carttar of Benton; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Benton.

Calvin F. Langdon

Calvin F. Langdon, 74, of St. Louis, Mo., brother of Donald Langdon of Ozone, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at South Pointe Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born in Ozone to Emery and Dova May Langdon and was a journeyman-lineman for I.B.E.W. Local No. 2.

Other survivors include his widow, Juanita Savalick Langdon; two sons, Robert and Raymond Langdon; and one daughter, Linda Duncan of St. Louis, Mo.

The body was cremated. Funeral and burial will be held at the Ozone Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mayer Funeral Home of St. Louis, Mo.

Doris Neely Clark

Doris Jean Neely Clark, 59, of Lamar died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Fort Smith, daughter of the late Rev. Archie Boone, widow of Lavon Clark, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, member and past commander of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary, nurse's aide, and attended Jamestown Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Glen Chavers of Lamar; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Clark of Clarksville and Donald and Kim Clark of Lutherville; mother, Minnie Doris Boone of Clarksville; two sisters, Joann Hill and Katherine Sue Allen, both of Clarksville; one brother, Rev. Charles Boone of Clarksville; four grandchildren, Shane Kuykendall and Kyle Kuykendall, both of Lamar, Brock Clark of Knoxville, and Ruth Floyd of Lutherville; and friend, Carlson Ainslie of Salus.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating. Burial was in Annie's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Nichols, Keith McCarley, John Belcher, James Overbey, Poncho Marlow, and George McClain.

Eddie J. Rose Jr.

Eddie Joseph Rose Jr., 67, of Little Rock died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002.

A native of Douglas, Ariz., he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Joseph (Christina Lockner) Rose Sr., member of St. Edwards Catholic Church where he served as altar boy for several years and graduated from Catholic High in 1953. He served in the Naval Reserve for eight years, was a member of the East End Hunting Club, worked for the Little Oaks Ball Park as a manager for 19 years and served as president of the park for six years, and retired from Parts-Warehouse Inc., after 45 years as purchasing agent. He was preceded in death by one sister, Christine Rose Cardenas.

Survivors include his widow, Reba Hardgrave Rose, formerly of Johnson County; three sons, Larry Rose, David Rose and Darren Rose, all of Little Rock; one grandson, Adam Rose of Little Rock; four sisters, Mary Ann Rose, Elizabeth Rose, and Toni Fitz, all of Little Rock, and Kathy Bowman of Bowmanstown, Pa.; three brothers, Richard Rose, Jimmy Rose, and Michael Rose, all of Little Rock; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A Mass for Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father John Antony as celebrant.

Graveside services and burial followed at 3 p.m. at the Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville. Arrangements were under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Custom Funerals and Cremations of Little Rock.

Farris C. Privitt

Farris C. Privitt, 91, of Lamar died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at his home.

He was a retired construction and iron employee, son of the late Robert E. and Laura C. Holland Privitt, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Sparkman of Clarksville and Hilda Carman of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sons, Robert H. Privitt of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and John E. Privitt of California; one sister, Laura Lawrence of Roseville, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with George Carman officiating. Burial was in Holman Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tommy Hensley, David Gainey, Frank Wiser, Grant Wiser, Brent Miranda and Jody Storms.
