Quentin Bean

Quentin Bean, 82, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late William and Ethel Jacobs Bean, a retired carpenter and Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Andersen of Clarksville and Phyllis Atkins of Peyton, Colo.; one sister, Emma Dell Leeds of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Michelle Moore and Joshua Moore, both of Seattle, Wash., Melandie Uscocovich of Quayaquil, Ecuador, Adam Moore of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and Joel Atkins and Brian Atkins, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Santiago Uscocovich of Ecuador and Elias Quen Alba Moore of Seattle, Wash.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Stillwell Cemetery with David Lasater officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joel Atkins, Adam Moore, Brian Atkins and Joshua Moore.

Bessie Reed Skaggs

Bessie Reed Skaggs, 86, of Rogers died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Rogers.

A former resident of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late James Addison Monroe and Lou Ellen Rudd Reed, Baptist, and was preceded in death by three children, Zada Skaggs Nelson, Ada Skaggs, and Denver Skaggs; three brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arlie Skaggs; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Robbie Ellen Skaggs of Georgia, Lura and Lonnie Madewell of Fayetteville, Carolyn and Calvin Turner of Springdale, Leta Mae and Rod White of Nob Hill, and Lowella Shirley of Bentonville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Loyd and Nancy Skaggs, Mac Arthur and Denice Skaggs, Doyle and Rethea Skaggs, David and Lenda Skaggs and Ben and Dorothy Skaggs, all of Springdale; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Dorsey Martin and Rev. Rusty Martin officiating. Burial was in Oark Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were grandsons, David Skaggs Jr., Jimmy Skaggs, Joshua Skaggs, John Skaggs, Steven Turner, and Randy Madewell.

Honorary pallbearers were Adam White, Eric White, and James Skaggs.

Dian Anglin

Dian Anglin, 60, of Knoxville died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock.

She was a native of Hagarville, daughter of the late James H. Callahan, graduate of Lamar High School, member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and was employed at Clarksville Foot Wear for 31 years. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vanessa Robinson; and one granddaughter, Cherish Robinson.

Survivors are her husband, Harvey F. Anglin; one son, Harvey Anglin Jr. of Knoxville; mother, Irene Fetters Callahan of Lamar; two sisters, Liz Smith of Lamar and Jan Marlow of Clarksville; six brothers, Bill Callahan of Yuma, Ariz., J. D. Callahan and Jeff Callahan, both of Ozone, Ray Callahan of Lamar, Doug Callahan of Knoxville, and Bob Callahan of Ratcliff; and one grandchild, Clayton Jones of Knoxville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ken Blundell officiating. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Roy Cotton, Albert Bagsby, Matt Nichols, Bob Nichols, John West, and Gary Ledford.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Nichols, Carl Holland, Eric Wyatt, and Jody Storms.

Fred D. Pearson

Fred Donald Pearson, 85, of London died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Dora Jane Mathews Pearson, U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II, member of the American Legion and Bayliss Volunteer Fire Department, attended the Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Patterson Pearson; one son, Jerry Donald Pearson; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Jabonnia Pearson of London; one grandson, Scott Pearson of London; two granddaughters, Bonnita Bates and husband, Greg, of London and Cheri Pearson of Benton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Arlin B. Elmore, Rev. Roy Goates Jr. and Rev. Jackie Pledger officiating.

Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery north of London under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

military honors were provided by the Rogers-Rye VFW Post No. 2283.

Active pallbearers were Scott Pearson, Greg Bates, Craig Neal, Sherman Goates, L. B. Smith, and Mike Nersesian.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bayliss Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Brian Cotner, and the staff of Johnson Regional Medical Center.

Iva A. Ray

Iva A. Ray, 87, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at her home.

She was a daughter of the late Ben and Lela Harding Hardgrave, native of Clarksville, widow of Leland Bean and Lowell Ray, member of the Clarksville Church of Christ, retired beautician and former owner of Iva's Beauty Shop for several years.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda and Dr. David Davidson of Arnold, Mo., Almeta and George Kilgore Jr., and Bobbie Fair, all of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Leland Dan and Mary Bean of Lutherville; one sister, Muriel Hardgrave of Clarksville; one brother, Ben F. Hardgrave of Clarksville; ten grandchildren, Shannon Davidson, Stephen Davidson, Scott Davidson, Leland Davis, Thomas Davis, De De Mulholland, Eric Kilgore, Danna Fudge, Kirk Bean, and Tyler Bean; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with John Ballard and Rev. Larry Horne officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Duane Steele, Ewell Sexton, Justin James, Flynn Kinman, Ben Alfred Hardgrave, and Elvin Brown.

Janice Elaine Beam

Janice Elaine Beam, 59, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Monongahela, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John H. and Elenor Phillips Evans, graduate of Monongahela High School, member of the Nazarene Church, former employee of Tyson Foods Inc., and Burns Security at Eureka Brick and Tile Company, and was preceded in death by one sister, Jacquelina.

Survivors are one daughter, Crystal Beam of Forrest City; one son, John James Timco of Clarksville; one brother, Thomas Evans of Collingswood, N. J.; and three grandchildren, John James Timco Jr., James Edward Timco, and Clarissia Beam.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

McKinley Smith

McKinley (Smitty) Smith, 84, of West Fork died Jan. 29, 2003, at his home.

He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Newt and Othel Nuckolls Smith, retired mechanic, and a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 9 in Clarksville and the Holman Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Gladys Colvin Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Lynn Smith and Calvin and Mary Smith, all of West Fork; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jimmy Garriott of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Mary and Gary Jones of West Fork; three brothers, Junior Smith of Clarksville, Leon Smith of Lamar, and David Smith of Hartman; three sisters, Lillie Dukes of Alma, Martha Woods of Springdale, and Brenda Barnes of Rogers; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday, Feb. 1, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville followed by burial in the West Fork Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Kevin Garriott, Jimmy Garriott, Gary Jones, Matthew Jones, Jackson Jones, and Jimmy Don Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were David Lee Smith and Billy Henry.

Nathaniel S. Perry

Nathaniel (Sandy) Perry, 73, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Lafayette and Oma York Perry, attended Grace James School in Clarksville, member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and was employed as a custodian at Farmers Bank and Trust Company for several years and at Tyson Foods.

He is survived by three daughters, Betty Hood of Hot Springs and Debra Okoro and Peggy Morgan, both of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four sons, Roy Perry and Gary Perry, both of Clarksville, Ernest Perry of Tulsa, Okla., and Lonnie Perry of Van Buren; one sister, Juanita May of Fort Smith; one brother, Joe Willie Perry Sr. of Clarksville; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Hinkle and Rev. Marvin Thompson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Cotton, Victor Perry, Lionel Perry, Eric Perry, Jonathon White, Gary Perry Jr., Marcus Perry, and Maylon White.
