Patti Cassidy Dunn

NEWPORT -- Patti Cassidy Dunn, 71, of Newport died Monday.

She was a member of Southside Church in Newport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Elton and Wilma Downs Cassidy.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Dunn; son, Stephen Dunn and wife Justine of New Zealand; daughter, Viki Suzanne Dunn of Newport; brother, Jim Cassidy of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren, Dylan and James Dunn of New Zealand.

Services are at 10 a.m. today at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Randolph Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Marie Garrett

JACKSONVILLE -- Marie Garrett, 90, of Jacksonville, died Monday.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Douglass and Jerry of Farmington, N.M., Lorene Jones and I.F. of Little Rock, and Martha Hardin and Keith of Cabot; sons, George Dover of Pocahontas, Doyle Dover of North Little Rock and David Brannon and wife Anita of Lonoke; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special friends, Peggie Sears and Frieda Ward.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. today in Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at Cabot.

Delmar D. Gray

LAS VEGAS -- Delmar D. Gray, 83, of Las Vegas departed this life on April 12, 2006.

He was born in Ada, Okla., and lived in Greene County near Goobertown for several years. He was a graduate of Greene County High School and the University of Arkansas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 11th Airborne Division.

He is survived by a son, Troy Gray of Little Rock; a daughter, Peggy Payne of Vilonia; four sisters, Joy Leer and Dorothy Belcher of Lonesville, Ky., and Wilda Seats and Naomi Seats of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Griffin and Minnie Gray, and four brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Sweet Moments Cemetery at 11 a.m. on May 6.

Tennie Hammon

PARAGOULD -- Tennie Hammon of Paragould died

Wednesday in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete with Heath Funeral Home.

Richard Lawrence

MAYNARD -- Richard Lawrence, 85, of Maynard died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at his residence. He was born Nov. 12, 1920, at Pitman.

He is survived by several cousins.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Pitman community.

There will be no visitation.

Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas has charge of arrangements.

Cecelia L. Montague

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Cecelia L. Montague, 63, of Southaven, Miss., died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in DeSoto, Miss.

She was a retired records clerk for Southern College of Optometry. She was a Methodist and was employed by DeSoto Schools in Southaven when her children were young.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lewis Montague.

Survivors include one daughter, Cari Gilley of Brookland; one son, David L. Montague of Horn Lake, Miss.; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Twin Oaks Memorial Garden in Southaven, Miss. Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Heart Association.

Dolphis Raymond Smith

FAIRFIELD BAY -- Dolphis Smith, 60, died Tuesday. Born July 30, 1945, at Paragould, he was an Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Smith and Lillian Smith, and two brothers.

Survivors include his step-father, B.T. Smith; brothers, Carl Smith and Benny Smith; sisters, Mary Jo Pennington and husband Shelby, Reba Milano, Brenda Cooper, and Linda Nanny and husband Chris; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Mountain View. Interment is at Big Springs Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Edwin Talley

MANILA -- Edwin Talley, 93, of Manila died Tuesday. He was the son of the late Robert and Arizona Talley, a former longtime Illinois resident and a retired painter. He had lived in Manila the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Talley, in 1991, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Effie Lott Talley of the home; four daughters; four stepdaughters; and one stepson.

Graveside services will be noon Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery at Geneva, Ill., under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Lucille Vassar

MANILA -- Annamae Lucille Vassar, age 82, of Manila died Tuesday at her home.

Born at East St. Louis, Ill., she was the daughter of the late John and Iva Mae Zolman Hardy and had been a Manila resident for most of her life. She was the widow of Eugene Vassar, who died earlier this year, and was a retired nurse's aide for the Manila Nursing Center. She loved quilting, especially for her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five sons, Bobby Vassar and his wife, Hazel, of Hartford, Mich., Pete Vassar and his wife, Jimmie, of Hartford, Jerry Vassar and wife, Connie, of Manila, Phillip Vassar and wife Deborah of Jonesboro and Terry Vassar of Manila; four daughters, Bonnie Estes and her husband, Boyd, of Hardy, Ann Miles and her husband, Ervin, of Ravenden, Linda Coleman of Manila and Debbie Vassar of Manila.

She also leaves 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive visitors this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Lilburn Williams

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Lilburn Lane "L.L." Williams, age 90, of Fredericksburg, Va., died on Monday, April 24, 2006, at The Hughes Home in Fredericksburg.

He was connected with the Arkansas public schools for 36 years. His education included a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Arkansas and a master's degree from Louisiana State University. His earlier work experience included years as a teacher of physical education and coach of football, basketball and track in Arkansas high schools.

Williams was drafted by the U.S. Army for service in World War II and was sent to an Army hospital to serve as recreation director. While in France, Williams was assigned to field hospitals for duties related to caring for battle casualties. When the war began to wind down, there was a change to convalescent hospitals, and Williams was put in charge of recreation.

Following the war, Williams turned to school administration and served as principal and administrator in the public schools of Arkansas. When retired, he was active in the hospital auxiliary of Clarksville. Also, he renewed his interest in gardening and gave lectures on native wildflowers and fall colored foliage.

Abbie Baird Williams of Springdale, his wife of 60 years, died in 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Forrest B. Williams of Falls Church, Va., and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Dr. Russell W. Williams of Fredericksburg, Va., and Carl R. Williams of Arlington, Va.; and five grandchildren.

He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church of Fredericksburg.

His funeral will be Saturday, April 29, in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home in Montross, Va. Viewing will be at 1 p.m., followed by services at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will be at the cemetery of the Providence United Methodist Church of Montross.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

Raymond Odell Clem

JONESBORO -- Raymond Odell Clem, 78, of Jonesboro died Sunday, May 14, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and have been entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Douglas Herring

BONO -- Douglas Herring, 67, of Bono died Sunday, May 14, at NEA Medical Center.

Born in Egypt, he lived in the Bono and Egypt areas and retired from Jonesboro Concrete Pipe Company.

He was a member of Egypt Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyne Rucker Herring of the home; a son, Ray Douglas Herring and wife Stacy of Jonesboro; a brother, Dale Herring of Jonesboro; a sister, Anita Willbanks of Bono; and two grandchildren, Tyler Herring and Derek Herring, both of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Williford Herring and Ruby Lucille Kious Herring; and a sister, Glenda Mae Herring.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Roger Brand officiating. Burial will follow in Markham Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Bill Nelson, Tony Herring, Thomas Northern, Lloyd Gooch, Mark Cole and Bob Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Herring, Derek Herring and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
