Frances Harris

FORREST CITY -- Mrs. Frances Mae Devereux Harris, 90, of Forrest City died Sunday in Crestpark Retirement Inn at Forrest City.

She had been in poor health for the past several years.

Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 18, 1916, in the Newcastle Community and was the daughter of Stephen Alfred Devereux and Hugh Ella Hamilton Devereux. She lived in St. Francis County all of her life, was a food supervisor for the Forrest City Public Schools, an honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Home Extension Club and Musical Coterie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harris married Edward Rush Harris Sr. in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by one son, Mr. Edward Rush Harris Jr. of Forrest City; one daughter, Mrs. Harriette Jordan Adams of Jonesboro; one brother, Mr. Arthur Louie Devereux of Forrest City; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Forrest City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by one son, James Stephen Harris and one daughter, Frances Ann Harris.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church with burial in Hughes Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Funeral Home with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Andrews Katz

JONESBORO -- Eleanor "Jackie" Andrews Katz, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, in the home.

She was a wonderful wife and mother.

She was born March 25, 1924, at Jonesboro and was the daughter of the late Lillian and Allie Eldon Andrews Sr.

She graduated from Jonesboro High School, was a homemaker and volunteered for the Red Cross.

She is survived by and will be forever loved by her husband of 62 years, Charles Katz of Jonesboro; two daughters, Nancy and Claire, both of Jonesboro; her brother, Dr. A. E. Andrews Jr. of Texarkana; nieces, nephews and cousins including Maxine Mitchell of Jonesboro; and wonderful caregivers Geraldine, Patricia and Loeda.

Graveside services will be private.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. today in Emerson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105, the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, P. O. Box 1042, Jonesboro 72401, or a charity of choice.

Anna Lee Kirby

MEMPHIS -- Anna Lee Kirby, 80, died Monday in Baptist East Medical Center at Memphis.

She was born in Ravenden and had spent most of her life in Memphis. She was a retired nurse assistant.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by brothers, Isham Lee of Goshen, Ind., and Finander Lee of Senatobia, Miss; sisters, Bernice Bratcher of Smithville, Vera Kell of Imboden and Mary Queen of Bartlett, Tenn.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Friendship Methodist Church near Ravenden with John Thomas Stahl officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery near Ravenden under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Charlie Lee Miller

Blytheville -- Charlie Lee Miller, 84, died Aug. 18, 2006, in Heritage Square Nursing Home at Blytheville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Miller; three daughters, Yvette Garner, Althea Miller and Dyvonne Miller; three sons, Cameron Miller, Adrian Miller and Charles Lee Miller; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Gospel Temple C.O.G.I.C. at Blytheville.

Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery.

Ralph Noah Mullens Sr.

POCAHONTAS -- Ralph Noah Mullens Sr., 85, died Saturday.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Virginia, son, Gary Lee Mullens, two sisters and a brother

He is survived by a son Ralph Mullens Jr. of Decatur, Ill.; daughter, Patricia Smith of Pocahontas, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Don Clayton officiating.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Tuesday. Graveside services will be noon Wednesday in the Anderson Cemetery at Palmer, Ill.

Mathel Quail

PARAGOULD -- Mrs. David 'Mathel' Quail, 86, of Paragould, died Sunday evening, Aug. 20, in her home.

She was born December 22, 1919, at Paragould and was co-operator of Sugar 'N' Spice Gifts and Accessories.

Mrs. Quail was a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ, a former homeroom mother, scout leader and a gourmet dessert maker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. A. and Maybelle Jenkins; her husband, David Quail; and a sister and brother-in-law, Delois and Richard Mitchell.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David Mark and Lena Quail of Paragould; two daughters, Mary Ann Washington and Dr. Nanette Quail Gunn, both of Paragould; one sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Dale Morgan of Paragould; six grandchildren, Kelly Kelley, Kris Pulliam, Parker Washington, James Bryan Jones, Amy Caroline Snipes and Justin Quail; and by twelve great-grandchildren, Mary Kate Kelley, Maggie Anne Kelley, Franklin Kelley, Lee Thomas Kelley, Susannah Kelley, Ashley Pulliam, Elea Pulliam, Caroline (Cari) Pulliam, Clair Pulliam, Evie Pulliam, Andrew Pulliam and James Bryan Jones Jr.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, in the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel with James A. Brown and Jay Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Jones, Parker Washington, Kevin Pulliam, Justin Quail, Dana Kelley and Sam Snipes.

Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in Mitchell Funeral Home.

Harold Riggan Sr.

CORNING -- Harold Riggan Sr., 90, Corning, died Aug. 21, 2006 in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

He was owner of Corning Implement Co. and had been a John Deere Dealer since 1948. He served in the Army during World War II and had received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Corning Masonic Lodge 719. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Corning.

Harold Riggan was united in marriage to Clydruth Carlley Riggan on Dec. 14, 1941. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2005.

Survivors include one son, Harold "Blue" Riggan Jr. and his wife Kathryn, Corning; two grandsons Kody Riggan and wife Carla, Paragould and Russell Riggan and wife Missy, Kirkwood, Mo. and four great-grandchildren, Carson, Cade, Will and Carlley Riggan.

He was also preceded in death by his parents Leonard L. and Gertrude Riggan; brother, Herbert Riggan and an infant brother.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at 2 p.m. in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel at Corning with the Rev. Larry Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Corning Cemetary at Corning.

Pallbearers will be Steve Fox, Terry Fitzgerald, Fred Brown, Cliff Gifford, Tom Williams, Richard Hoskins and David Pratt; honorary pallbearers are Quinn Brown, Jerry Williams, Tommy Wofford, John Austin, Alan Clifton and Jake Duff. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church at Corning.

Julie Marie Underwood

BROKEN BOW, Okla. -- Julie Marie Underwood, infant daughter of James Frank and Mandy Marie 'Mangrum' Underwood, went to heaven on Saturday, Aug. 19., in McCurtain Memorial Hospital at Idabel, Okla.

She was born on April 11, 2006, at Oklahoma City.

Julie leaves to cherish her memory her parents of the home; sister, Jillian Ann Underwood of the home; grandparents, Tina and Gregg Mangrum of Owasso, Okla., Teresa and Don Newman of Hochatown, Okla. and Keith and Renisa Underwood of Lukfata, Okla.; great-grandparents, Lonnie and Patsy Mangrum of Jonesboro, Rena and Richard Harris of Haines City, Fla., Frank and Robbie Brown of Hochatown, Okla., and James and Mary Ann Underwood of Grand Praire, Texas.; great-great-grandmother, Cora Mangrum; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Brumley Funeral Home Chapel at Broken Bow with the Rev. Clark Wrather officiating.

Interment will follow at Glover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

Alvin West

CASH -- Alvin West, 78, of Cash died Sunday, Aug. 20, in NEA Medical Center.

He lived most of his life in Cash and was a retired farmer and a Army veteran. He was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Gibson West of the home; a son, David West of Cash; one niece; and several cousins.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Bill Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
