Idelia McKinney

BURDETTE -- Idelia McKinney, 74, of Burdette died Sunday, Nov. 12.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda McKinney and Annette McKinney; sons, Jake McKinney Jr., John McKinney and Tom McKinney; stepson, Charles McKinney; sisters, Willie B. Lane, Ollie Mae Wallace and Ollie B. Waterford; brothers Clarence Fulton, Jim Rogers and L. B. Rogers; 13 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home at Blytheville with the Rev. Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Ridge Cemetery at Burdette.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Elbie Minyard

BLYTHEVILLE -- Elbie Minyard, 92, of Blytheville died Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Great River Medical Center.

She leaves her sons, Cecil Uselton of Half Moon Community, and Jackie Uselton and his wife, Lois, of Lincoln; daughter, Patsy Reese of Blytheville; stepdaughter, Lnora Corley and her husband, Buddy, of El Paso; daughter-in-law Betty Uselton of Gosnell; 22 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with the Rev. Clifford Britt officiating and burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Denver O. Sauls

JONESBORO -- Denver O. Sauls, 90, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Nov. 15, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

He had lived at Jonesboro since 1988 and attended Strawfloor Baptist Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served as chief gunner's mate on the USS Farrenhold DD 491.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Olive Sauls; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Sauls, of Jonesboro, whom he married in 1945. He is also survived by his brother, J.E. Sauls of Walnut Ridge; sisters, Edna Bookout of Anderson, Ind., Fredia Lewallen of Corning; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Harold Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers will be Tige Williams, Tyler McGloughlin, George Williams, Rusty Chambers, Terry Bookout and Joseph Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Strawfloor Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held from 5--7 p.m. today.

Kathryn W. Tilley

JONESBORO -- Kathryn W. Tilley, 82, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

She spent most of her life in Jonesboro and was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. She retired as director of nursing at George W. Jackson Mental Health Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Tilley, and her parents, John and Myrtle Scott Barden.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Karen Tilley of Jonesboro, and her brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Shirley Barden of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrea Davis and Chris Tilley; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Davis and Brock Davis; her aunt, Ella Wallis of Pocahontas; and several nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Oaklawn Cemetery with David Gibson officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that lasting memorials be made to the Children's Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould 72450 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis 38105.

Lewis Eugene Utley Sr.

JONESBORO -- Lewis Eugene Utley Sr., 73, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Nov. 14, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born at Hardy on April 16, 1933, he served in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a service repairman for City Water and Light for 2912 years. He was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church and was a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Orace and Lois James Utley, and one brother, Tony Utley.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Utley of the home; two sons, Tim Utley of Atlanta, Texas, and Gene Utley of Little Rock; two daughters, Rita Gordon of West Plains, Mo., and Linda Utley of Jonesboro; two stepsons, Michael Ring of Jonesboro and Danny Ring of Rogers; four brothers, Edward Utley of Hardy, Orace Utley of Dallas, Carl Utley of Houston, Texas, and John Utley of West Plains; one sister, Barbara Mathis of Jonesboro; three grandsons, Garen Gorden of West Plains, Grantlend Utley and Reece Utley, both of Atlanta, Texas, and four stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Ray and the Rev. Danny Ring officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Garen Gordon, Justin Ring, Michael Ring, Danny Ring Jr., Doug Mathis and Doug Utley. Serving as honorary pallbearers are employees of City Water and Light and members of Nettleton Masonic Lodge, Joe Smith and Dr. Rick Tate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today in Gregg Funeral Home at Jonesboro.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

Albert Edward White

O'KEAN -- Albert Edward White, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 14.

He is survived by two sons, Leslie White of Marmaduke and Jim White of Walnut Ridge; two daughters, Judy Jones of Smithville and Paulette Lance of O'Kean; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Sharum Cemetery with military honors by Promberger-Traw Post No. 4556.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Karen LaNell Barker

BAY -- Karen LaNell Barker, 49, of Bay died Sunday, Nov. 26, in St. Vincent's Infirmary.

Born at Jonesboro on Nov. 8, 1957, she was a medical technician at Cardiology Associates of Jonesboro and attended Temple Baptist Church where she was active in the Awana Program, Seasons Sunday school class, Temple Missions Program and the welcome committee.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Ray Barker of the home; one daughter, Tyna Cravens of the home; her mother, Alice Marie Jones Poteete of Walnut Ridge; one sister, Alice Poteete Findley of Baytown, Texas; two aunts, Mary Dale Whitley of Jonesboro and Loleta Farish of Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frankie Cravens; her father, Raymond Poley Poteete; and one brother, Raymond Lloyd Poteete.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Glen McKay, Tony Sartin, Gary Barker, Bobby Southard, Quillon Vincent and Thomas Poteete; and as honorary pallbearers, the Seasons Sunday School Class and Bay High School Class of 2006

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel at Jonesboro.

Memorials may be sent to the Karen Barker Memorial Fund in care of Bancorp South, P.O. Box 3080, Jonesboro 72403, or Temple Baptist Church Mission Fund.

Geneva B. Birdsong

NEWPORT -- Geneva B. Birdsong, 85, of Newport died Sunday.

Survivors include her son, R A Birdsong Jr. and wife Kaye of Claremore, Okla.; daughters, Susie Rutledge and husband Justin and Phyllis Cowell and husband Roy; brother, Maurice Odom of Newport; six grandchildren, Rocky Lancaster, Lanny Lancaster, Trace Birdsong, Chet, Jessica and Natalie Rutledge; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today with arrangements by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Gerald Dean Caldwell

LAKE CITY -- Gerald Dean Caldwell, 74, of Lake City died Sunday, Nov. 26, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born at Lake City and lived most of his life there. He was of Baptist belief, and was preceded in death by his parents, Radie and Mary Ellen Thomas Caldwell, and two brothers, Jerry and Hershel "Snooks" Caldwell.

He was the owner and operator of GC Lawn Care.

Survivors include his loving companion, Judy Mann of Lake City; three sons, Danny Caldwell and his wife Pamof Palmdale, Calif., Michael Caldwell and Bryan Caldwell, all of Las Vegas; stepson, Robbie Kauke and his wife Kerrie and children of Lake City; daughter, Beverly Juarez of Glendale, Calif.; brother, Billy Caldwell of Springdale; sister, Patsa Ragsdale of Lake City; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cane Island Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Strickland officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in Emerson Funeral Home at Lake City with Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Grant, Charles Nichols, Chuck Nichols, Jeff Winford, Bud Mann, Jim Ladd and Lewis "Plut" Ladd.

George Melton Emery

CARAWAY -- George Melton Emery, 84, of Caraway died Sunday, Nov. 26, in his home.

Born at Shamrock, Texas, he was the son of the late Marion and Ethel Nelson Emery, and had been a resident of Caraway since 1960. He was of the Christian faith, a Navy veteran of World War II and the founder of Emery Trailer Co. of Caraway.

Mr. Emery was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Lillian Arlene Emery, on Oct. 2, 2006; his son, Michael Dee Emery; three sisters; and two brothers.

He is survived by three sons, Melton Emery, Terry Emery and Barry Emery, all of Caraway; three sisters, Birdie, Bertha and Patsy; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in Caraway Cemetery with Billy Gibson officiating. Howard Funeral Service of Leachville is in charge of arrangements.
