Ruth Couch Rogers

PINE BLUFF -- Ruth Couch Rogers, 98, of Pine Bluff died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in her home.

She was born Oct. 6, 1909, in Eagletown, Okla., to John Walker and Frances Elizabeth Wright Couch. She was reared and received her early education in Eagletown and Broken Bow, Okla., graduating from Broken Bow High School. She attended Henderson Brown College. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1942.

She was a homemaker and a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Douglas C. Rogers and wife Linda of Lexington, Ky.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Suzanne Rogers of Winter Park, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Elaine Roan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Rogers; her parents; one brother; and three sisters

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends in Robinson's from 6-8 tonight.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 South Olive St., Pine Bluff 71601.

Homer Lee Williams

PIGGOTT -- Homer Lee Williams, 82, of Piggott died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters and numerous friends and relatives.

He is survived by one son, seven daughters, 17 grandchildren, 27 grandchildren and a very special friend.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Irby Funeral Home Chapel at Piggott. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the chapel.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Charles Curbo

Wynne -- Thomas Charles Curbo, 71, of Wynne died Saturday, Jan. 27, in his residence. He was born July 2, 1935, in Cotton Plant, son of the late William and Glady Brantley Curbo.

Mr. Curbo is survived by his wife, Freda; daughters, Christie and Gina; sons, Perry and Rusty; a brother, Larry Don Curbo and wife Janice of Little Rock; a sister, Peggy Sue Adams of Little Rock; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in Thompson-Wilson Wynne Chapel. Interment will follow in Johnson Cemetery at Wynne.

Mr. Curbo is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jackie; and a brother, James.

Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Monday in Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home at Wynne, (870) 238-9400.

Virginia Henry

JONESBORO -- Virginia Henry, 96, of Jonesboro, died Saturday morning, Jan. 27, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

She had lived in Jonesboro since 1935, moving here from Cross County. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church where she had served as WMU Director and taught Sunday school classes. She had also served as secretary for AARP.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlin Henry; her parents, W.Z. and Margaret Sanders Campbell; three sisters, Ora Hebble, Essie Stacy and Leona Boucher; and three brothers, Lewis Campbell, William Campbell and Arthur Campbell.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph Wayne Henry of Ennis, Texas, and Dr. Donald Glen Henry of Staunton, Va.; one daughter, Connie Faye Pollock of Ironton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Curtis Shatley and Dr. Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Pollock, Michael Henry, Sean Sayre, Chuck Harris, Darin Griffith and Hal Feild.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to Walnut Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1910 Scenic Drive, Jonesboro 72401.

Marzee Ann Hyneman

JONESBORO -- Mrs. Marzee Ann Hyneman, 87, of Jonesboro passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hyneman; father, Forrest Rowan; mother, Carrie Rains Holt, stepfather, W.C. Holt; and her brother and sister-in-law, Burness and Mary Holt.

She was born in Jonesboro to Forrest and Carrie Rowan. After her father's death in an accident, she was raised by her mother, Carrie Rains Holt, and stepfather, William Charles Holt.

She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School in 1936 and Arkansas State University in 1940. While in college she was a member of the Alpha Tau Zeta and Phi Gamma Mu sororities, the French Club and the Home Economics Club. In addition, she was selected as Journalism Queen while at Arkansas State University.

She was married to Frank Hyneman on Dec. 12, 1943, just prior to him being sent overseas during World War II. Upon his return from the war they moved to Trumann where she was active in the community. She was a member of the Century Arts and Civic Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was president of the Trumann Parent Teacher Association in 1961-1962, was the coordinator of Trumann's celebration of the U.S.A. Bicentennial in 1976 and was the first ever recipient of the "Woman of the Year" Award given by the Trumann Jaycettes. In addition, she opened her home at Weona, to the Trumann Fine Arts Council Mayfest musical celebration for several years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Trumann, and perhaps her proudest accomplishment was the 17 years she served as the choir director.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Janet Hyneman and Hal and Pam Hyneman, all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Brian Hyneman, Matt Hyneman, Lindsey Ann Hyneman, Hunter Hyneman and Camden Rains Hyneman; and three great-grandchildren, Josh, Alex and Hannah Elizabeth Hyneman.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, at 1:30 p.m. in First United Methodist Church at Trumann with the Rev. Doug Criss officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Al Young, Michael Young, Ronnie Thompson, Dr. Kemp Childs, Dr. Mark Brown, John Kitterman, Greg Kitterman and Tommy Thrash.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Trumann.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth's Place and the ladies who were her caregivers over the last several months: Odessa Alread, Georgia Carter, Alice Guy and Mary Ellen Flanagin. Their kind patience and caring attitude was greatly appreciated.

Barbara Kay Malin

CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- Barbara Kay Malin, 66, of Cherokee Village died Friday, Jan. 26, in her home.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie W. Malin; two daughters, Marty McNevin and Mitzi Gellman; and three granddaughters, Paula McNevin, Carrie and Annie Gellman.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held a later date.

Memorials may be made to Cherokee Village Lutheran Church.

William J. Parker

JONESBORO -- William J. Parker, 81, of Jonesboro died Friday, Jan. 26, at Skill Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Lake City, he lived several years in the Northeast Arkansas area. He graduated from Nettleton High School and ASU and received his master's in agriculture in Missouri. He taught at Piggott and also lived in Florida many years. He retired as a fruit and vegetable inspector for USDA and was a Navy veteran and a member of Stone Street Assembly of God.

Survivors include one son, Ronald W. Parker of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Sharon Hite of Sherman, Texas; three sisters, Shirley Mask of Jonesboro, Lavestal Green of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Virginia Kidder of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Parker; and his parents, William J. and Lela Mae Parker.

Pallbearers will include Joe Smith, Tommy Glover, Merle Hite, Mike Mask, Matt Mask, Shawn Mask and Otis Gray.

Funeral services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in Macey Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Heath officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Dorothy R. Phillips

TRUMANN -- Dorothy R. Phillips, 84, of Trumann died Friday, Jan. 26, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center at Jonesboro.

She is a member of First Baptist Church in Marked Tree. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Phillips; and a son, Don Phillips.

Survivors include a son, Charles Phillips, and daughter-in-law, Marsha of Trumann; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday in Murphy Funeral Home at Marked Tree. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. with Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Wilburn Eugene Smith

PARAGOULD -- Wilburn Eugene Smith, 88, of Paragould died Jan. 27, 2007, in Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 24, 1918, at Paragould, he was retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of First Master Sergeant and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, was a Mason and Shriner and a member of Paragould First Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Buddie Gene and Karen Smith of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrion and Robert Montgomery of Paragould and Patricia and Tim Kersey of Desert Hills, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Bruce Smith and Anna Canaday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mazie Stacy Smith; and two brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. in Greene County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6-9 p.m., in Mitchell Funeral Home.
