Leugene Mable Bettis

Washington, Mo. -- Leugene Mable Bettis, 74, a native of Monette, died Jan. 25.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald Tousand of Pacific, Mo., and Randy Tousand and wife Penny of Imperial, Mo.; daughters, Iris Tyacke and husband Craig of Denver, Colo., Terecia Jackson and husband Phillip, and Sheila Wilken, both of Pacific, Darla Rucker and husband Kevin of Osage Beach, Mo., and Angella Melkowski and husband Paul of Catawissa, Mo.; sisters, Joann Bennett and husband Benny of Manila and Mavis Edwards and husband Jarald of Pacific; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Jan. 27.

Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association.

Larry Wayne Brown

HARRISBURG -- Larry Wayne Brown of Harrisburg departed this life Monday morning at his home at the age of 57.

He was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Harrisburg, the son of Marvin Brown and Delphia Sample Brown and was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg.

He married Brenda Morris on Dec. 23, 1967, and they enjoyed 39 years together. He was a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Brown, and a brother, Tommy Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Brown of the home; one son, Reggie Brown of Harrisburg; two daughters, Mona Brown Clayton of Jonesboro and Michelle Brown Flores of Harrisburg; his mother, Delphia Brown of Harrisburg, two half-brothers and a half-sister; and five grandchildren, Eddie Sandefur, J. L. Clayton, Antuane Tenorio, Mateo Flores and Brianna Brown.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Bay Village Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home this evening from 6-8.

Paul Campbell

LEPANTO -- Paul Campbell, 44, of Lepanto died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

He was a member of Church of God and worked in maintenance for the Osceola School District.

Visitation will be from 6-- 8 this evening at Roller-Swift Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Swift Chapel with burial in Potters Cemetery in Lepanto.

Dorothy May Cole

PARAGOULD -- Dorothy May Cole, 82, of Paragould went to be with her Lord, Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Cole was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Mogadore, Ohio, to Fred and Alice Skaburn Moore. Before beginning her career as a teacher, she worked as a secretary. A graduate of Arkansas State University, she retired from teaching at Cardwell, Mo. After retirement she worked at the McDonald's in Wal-Mart. She was a member of Rock Springs Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for many years.

Mrs. Cole loved to play the piano and listen to her piano rolls. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, bingo and taking road trips to visit her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Georgia Cole of Paragould, Rickey and Patricia Cole of Monroe, Ga., Neal and Deborah Cole of Paragould; and a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Richard Berg of Marshfield, Wis. She is also survived by one brother, James Moore of Trenton, N.J.; two sisters, Thelma Chapman of Mogadore, Ohio, and Marilyn Cleveland of Valley City, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and by one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Ras Cole; her parents; one brother, Richard Moore; and by one sister, Helen Stanfield.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Stanley Carmack, Dwayne Frakes, Steve Smoker, Roger Slayton, Jack Howe and Jimmy Upton will serve as pallbearers.

Ira and Edith Dix

McCRORY -- Ira Dix, 97, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007. His wife, Mrs. Edith Dix, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007.

They were buried side by side on Sunday. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of McCrory were in charge of arrangements.

Survivors for Mr. and Mrs. Dix include two sons and their wives, James and Connie Dix and Victor and Ann Dix, all of Bald Knob; a daughter, Mildred Woodart of Jonesboro; sisters; a brother; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

E.V. Ellison

PARAGOULD -- E.V. Ellison, 71, of Paragould died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at his residence.

Arrangements are incomplete with Heath Funeral Home.

Norma Leona Forristal

PARAGOULD -- Norma Leona Forristal, 101, died Saturday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Alexander Forristal, parents and siblings.

Survivors are her children, Ellen Williams and Dorothy Kolb and Margaret Ward, both of Paragould; Charles Edward Forristal, Lawrence William Forristal, and Henry Sylvester Forristal; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heath Colonial Chapel with burial in Gainesville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Wednesday night at Heath Funeral Home.

Nelma Ator Fowler

POCAHONTAS -- Nelma Ator Fowler, 89, died Saturday.

She was a retired real estate broker and accountant for McFall Chevrolet.

Her husband, Dudley Fowler, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a nephew, Joe Provenza of Arlington, Texas. She also leaves other nephews, nieces and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Gerald Fears officiating.

Esther Cordellia Hampton

NEWPORT -- Esther Cordellia Ellis Hampton, age 89, took her final step into glory just as in the song she wrote, "A Step At A Time." She was surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1917, at Tyler in White County to George Henry Ellis and Martha Ann Osborn Ellis.

She loved her family, her church family, singing gospel music, traveling, cooking, gardening, quilting and canning. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, prayer warrior and a faithful Christian as a member of Newport Pentecostal Church of God for more than 48 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Bill" Allen Hampton on June 14, 1975; her parents; four brothers, Elvis Cleveland Ellis, John Edward Adam Ellis, Leonard Elijah Ellis and David J. Ellis; two half-brothers; Amous J.C. Miller and Brose Miller; and one daughter-in-law, Thelma Ann Glasco Hampton.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond Allen Hampton of Phoenix, Kenneth Wayne and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hampton of Georgetown and Larry Ray Hampton of Jonesboro; one honorary son, Elvis Kvon Meilke of Jonesboro; three daughters, Kathryn Ann and son-in-law Larry Joe Jordan of Newport, Mildred Marie and son-in-law Jerry Alton England and Altha Louise Hampton, all of Augusta; one grandson, Kenneth Wayne Hampton Jr. and wife Kristy of Gilmer, Texas; four granddaughters; Debra Ann and husband Mike McDaniel of Peoria, Ariz., Elizabeth Kay and husband Guy Wilson Scudder Jr. of Alma, Mary Felicia Jordan of Newport and Martina Marie Hampton England of Fayetteville; two great-grandsons, Timothy Michael McDaniel and Kenneth Wayne "Trae" Hampton III; seven great-granddaughters, Camilla Elizabeth and husband James Albert Ranger IV, Sarah Elaine Scudder, Sarah Marie McDaniel, Amanda Kristine McDaniel, Kimberly Christine Scudder, Faith Dalynn Hampton and Augusta Helene Hampton; one great-great-grandson, Caden Elias Ranger; one great-great-granddaughter, Laila Catherine Ranger; one sister; Clara Pearl Mann of Diaz; three half-sisters; Blanche Dudley of Waterloo, Ill., Ida Mae Clark of Newport and Dixie Cole of Peidmont, Mo.; many nephews and nieces; three sisters-in-law, Rose Ellis of Pleasant Plains, Geneva Ellis of Russell and Mildred Ellis of Bald Knob; a loving church family; her best friend, Bertha Berniece Underwood; and many other friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Newport Pentecostal Church of God, P.O. Box 575, Newport 72112, as her great desire was to see the new church completed.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newport Pentecostal Church of God. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Betty Jane Hughes

CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- Betty Jane Hughes, 75, of Cherokee Village passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at her residence.

She was a retired secretary and moved to Cherokee Village from Indiana.

Survivors include her husband, Richard, of the home; son, Mark Hughes of Newcastle, Ind; daughter, Linda Morgan of Patterson, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland. Burial will follow at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria, Ind.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.

Emma Jean Keller

NEWPORT -- Emma Jean Keller, 86, of Newport died Sunday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clovis "Bo" Keller; her parents, John Allen and Fannie (Turner) Hopkins; two brothers, Earl Hopkins and James Hopkins; and two sisters, Ortha Byrd and Arbey Fergurson.

She is survived by one son, Alton Keller and wife Lois of Minnesota; one brother, J.A. Hopkins of Grubbs; one sister, Merle Jones of Tuckerman; one granddaughter, Allison Renee Owen; and two great-grandchildren, Alysha and Andrew Owen.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ballews Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.
