Dakota Guthrie

JONESBORO -- Hunter "Dakota" Guthrie, 11, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 13, in St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Memphis.

He was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. A fifth-grade student at South School, he loved science, karate and soccer. He loved helping his Nanna feed the hummingbirds and fishing with his dad.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George D. Guthrie.

He is survived by his parents, George Guthrie of Lake City and Tracy Reeves of Jonesboro. He leaves his brother, Justin Guthrie of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sisters, Tiffany Johnson of Jonesboro, Morgan Guthrie of Hawkinsville; his maternal grandparents, Dr. Hal and Marilyn McCloud of Jonesboro; his paternal grandmother, Linda Irwin of Lake City; his maternal great-grandfather, Charles L. Barnes of Lebanon, Mo.; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with Jerry Parker and Dr. Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Lake City Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Kerri Nossler, Josh Poole, Dustin Poole, Donnie Davis, Chris Coy, Randy Gambill and Dustin Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. service time.

Deborah K. Hinds

JONESBORO -- Deborah Kaye Ward Hinds went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2007, at 10:30 a.m.

She was at home surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Lorain Murray Ward; her father, Verneal Everett Ward; and a brother, Billy Wayne Merrell.

Deborah had been married for the past 28 years to George Gerry Hinds of Jonesboro. She had two sons, Bryon Scott Ward and Gary Nolan Ward, both of Jonesboro.

Gary is married to Anna Elizabeth Gipson of Portia and they have three sons, Nolan Andrew, Luke Gipson and Matthew Hawk. Bryon is married to Ashley Brean of Tyronza and they have a son, Mason Tyler.

Deborah was one of 12 children. Her brothers and sisters include, Hazel Lovern Griffin of St. Louis and Evelyn Loraine Rankin, both of St. Louis, Billy Wayne Merrell, deceased in 1960, Shirley Faye Davis and Doris Ann Harlan, both of Rolla, Mo., Annette Yvonne Gentry of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Deloris Jean Lodge of Holt, Mich., Rhonda Lee Edwards of Ravenden, James Everett Ward of Independence, Mo., George Leroy Ward also of Poplar Bluff, and Sherry Lynn Henn of Lafe.

Deborah was born Oct. 10, 1954. She spent much of her youth in Michigan City, Ind. She later moved to Jonesboro, where she has resided for the past 30 years.

Deborah was a 1972 graduate from Nettleton High School and a 1988 graduate of the College of Nursing. Deborah worked for several years as an ICU and operating room nurse where she had the privilege of touching many people's lives.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed, and her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of her friends and loved ones who have been by our sides through her struggle.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Calvary Chapel on West Washington behind Langford-Bookout Funeral Home. Deborah's family would like to extend an open invitation to all friends to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to the Deborah Hinds Nursing Scholarship at Liberty Bank, 4818 East Highland, Jonesboro, 72401.

Don Cecil Hooker

PARAGOULD -- Don Cecil Hooker passed from this life Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at the age of 71 years.

He was retired from Emerson Electric in Paragould. He was of Baptist belief.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver C. Hooker and Pearl Ellis Hooker; a sister, Martha Jean Hooker; and son, Johnny Wayne Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Lou Vangilder Hooker; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Tim McClish; one son, David Hooker; one daughter-in-law, Earline Johnson; three grandchildren, Cindy Friar (Matt), Joshua Hooker (Patty) and Brittany Hooker; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cheyenne Friar and Jake and J.R. Hooker; four brothers, Charles "Ludy" Hooker (Clara), of Camden, Tommy Hooker (Betty) of Marked Tree, Russell Hooker (Eva) of Harrisburg and Richard Hooker (Tami) of Marked Tree; three sisters, Wanda Bixler of Little Rock, Doris Pitts (Wayne) of Marked Tree, Mary Feathers of Lepanto; one sister-in-law, Faye DePriest; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 this evening at Heath Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rondal Warner, Larry Davis, Bobby DePriest, Tony Pemberton, Glen DePriest and Jim Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will include Charlie Lyles, Gene McPhearson, Randy Aden, Leroy Condray and Cecil Summers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sloan Kettering.

Jesse Earl Huskey

MANILA -- Jesse Earl Huskey died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Baptist East Hospital at Memphis.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Jack Nelson Inman

RECTOR -- Jack Nelson Inman, 66, of Rector passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Carbon Hill, Ala., to Willie and Kitty Inman.

Funeral services will be today at 1:30 p.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector. Clark Eastabrook and Amos Thompson will officiate, and burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector is in charge of services.

Hallie B. Miller

PARAGOULD -- Hallie B. Miller, 76, of Paragould died Wednesday, Feb. 14, at her residence.

She was born in Memphis and was raised around the Dixie and Brookland areas. She lived in Jonesboro for many years before retiring to the country. She retired from General Electric and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, J.T. Miller of the home; three stepsons, Tom Miller of Millington, Tenn., Don Miller of Dallas and Duane Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Raymond Lowery of Jonesboro and Bob Lowery of Walnut Ridge; one sister, Lucille Jones of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Bessie Lowery; three brothers; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will include John Jones, Duane Miller, Raymond Lowery, Tom Miller, Don Miller, Ken Jones and Bob Lowery.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Gary Henderson officiating. Entombment will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Dale B. Morgan

LYNN -- Dale Morgan, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 15, at his residence.

He was a retired timber worker and farmer and had served on the Democratic Central Committee. He was a lifetime resident of Lynn and member of Lynn Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rebecca Cooper.

Survivors include his sons, Mike Morgan of Melbourne and Jimmy Dale Morgan of Pocahontas; daughter, Susie Brumley of Pocahontas; sisters, Clara Dennison of Powhatan, Joanne Shelton and Linda Richey, both of Searcy, Mary Dennison of Lynn and Betty Mullen of St. Louis; brothers, Harold and Jerry Morgan, both of Lynn; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lynn Church of Christ with John Paul Morgan and Kenny Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at House-Gregg Chapel in Lynn.

Janett Morphis

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Janett Morphis, 75, died Thursday, Feb. 15, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Rhear, Carolyn Bazzel and Bobby Nored, all of Missouri; and six stepchildren, Roger Morphis, Denny Morphis, Barry Morphis, Robert Morphis, Rhonda Nicholas and Jeanine Loyd, all of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Weiner. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Walker Cemetery in Weiner.

Cotrell Funeral Service of Poplar Bluff is in charge of arrangements.

George Mosby

PARAGOULD -- George Mosby, 73, of rural Paragould died Thursday, Feb. 15, at his home of natural causes.

Born in Cash, George has lived near Paragould for 31 years. He was a retired brick mason and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mosby; a daughter, Donna Sue Sarrels; and a brother, James Mosby.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Walker Mosby; one son, Tommy Walker of Paragould; his mother, Emma Ishmael of Jonesboro; three brothers, Robert Mosby of Austin, Texas, Carl Mosby and Paul Ishmael, both of Jonesboro; one sister, Juanita Bryant of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Ashley Sarrels and Hunter Sarrels.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. with Butch Parks officiating at Unity Cemetery near Jonesboro.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 11-1 p.m. in Emerson Funeral Home at Jonesboro.

Pallbearers include Roy Walker, Paul Parks, Willie Walker, Joey Spargo, Richard Mosby and Randel Ishmael.
