Melissa Ann Owens

BATESVILLE -- Melissa Ann Owens, 28, of Greene County, formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, Feb. 10.

Survivors include her mother, Patricia Owens of Batesville; sons, Caleb Owens of Batesville and Carl Torres Owens of Jonesboro; a daughter, Morgan Owens of Batesville; three brothers, Timothy Owens, John Owens and Carl Owens Jr.; a sister, Vivian Cox; and a special friend, Samuel Torres of Greene County.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roller-Crouch Chapel at Batesville with visitation from 5-8 p.m. today.

Interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery at Newark.

Nettie Qualls

MONETTE -- Nettie Qualls died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Manila Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Carolyn M. Campbell

TRUMANN -- Mrs. Carolyn Marie Herring Campbell, 52, of Trumann died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at the family residence in Trumann.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Hot Springs and had lived in Trumann since 1974. She was a planning engineer for AT&T; member of First Christian Church of Trumann and served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher and youth group leader; member of American Pioneers; and past president of Trumann Women's League.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Wilson, and was the daughter of the late Norvalee and Adelle Stafford Herring.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Michael Campbell of the home; one daughter, Audra Campbell of the home; three sisters, Cindy Parrish and Betty Graves, both of Hot Springs and Barbara Pistak of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and two brothers, Tommy Comstock of Hot Springs and Bobby Comstock of Chicago.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at 11 at First Christian Church in Trumann with the Rev. Leonard Harp and the Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Mike Roach Jr. Hendrix, Philip Cole, Mike Austin, Gary Baldwin, Gary Darr, Bubby Robinson and LaRoy McCann.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.

Memorial may be made to First Christian Church, 541 West Main St., Trumann 72472.

Collene Skinner Chapman

JONESBORO -- Collene Skinner Chapman, age 77, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Holly Grove to Earl and Valeria Nally Skinner.

She was a resident of Jonesboro, coming from Claremore, Okla., and a member of Murray Missionary Baptist Church in Claremore.

Collene enjoyed working in the yard and garden, loved her house plants, knitting and reading her Bible every night. Her grandmother, Maude Hurst, raised her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Valeria Skinner; husband, Billy Russell Chapman; daughter, Sandra Kay Chapman; and five brothers, Vernon Skinner, Henry Skinner, Bobby Skinner, Jimmy Skinner and John Skinner.

She is survived by two sons, Stan Patterson and his wife Nancy of Cash and William R. Chapman and his wife Pamela of Ozark, Mo.; one daughter, Ruth Patterson Kirkley of Jonesboro; two brothers, William Skinner of Stevensville, Mont., and Walter Skinner and his wife Diane of Alexandria, La.; six sisters, Dora Bailey and Erlene Booker and her husband Milton, all of Clarendon, Virginia Rhoads and her husband Bo of Cabot; Betty Ruth George of Jonesboro, Shirley Parker and her husband Jim of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Joyce Dunavan of Sherwood; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Clarendon with Jim Parker officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home of Clarendon.

Bill N. Coble Sr.

JONESBORO -- Bill N. Coble Sr., 71, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Feb. 22, at his residence.

He was the owner and operator of Bilco Tile Co. and the Brookland Bearcat Drive Inn. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and Jonesboro Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and hunt.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Coble of the home; a son and his wife, Bill and Debbie Coble Jr. of Russellville; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and David Head of Brookland; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Adams Coble Parish of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister and her husband, Rita and Jay Foster of Bethany, Okla.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Head Paslay and her husband Chris, Bobbi Head Green and her husband Jake, Billy Coble III, Melanie Coble, Eric Coble and Kacy Coble; and two great-grandchildren, Jesse Paslay and Lilyan Paslay.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Coble.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Coble, Eric Coble, Jake Green, Chris Paslay, Curt Parish, and Gerald Cheshier.

Honorary bearers will include the men of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and fishing, hunting, and coffee drinking friends.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Grove Methodist Church building fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

Donald DeMent

JONESBORO -- Donald DeMent, 85 of Jonesboro died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born in Wynne and lived in Jonesboro his lifetime. He was a member of First Baptist Church and owner-operator of DeMent Sundries in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas DeMent and Lillie Mae Catlett DeMent; five brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his former wife, Shirley M. DeMent of Jonesboro; two daughters, Donna Anne Raney and her husband Jimmy of North Little Rock and Angela Dawn Williams Jumper and her husband Mark of Jonesboro; one sister, Bonnie Mae King of Bono; four grandchildren, Traci Anne Smith, Ryann Catherine Williams, Brett Ellis Williams and Allan Lee Williams; and two great grandchildren, Taylor Anne Harrington and John Russell Smith.

Graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Philadelphia Cemetery with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Y. Dunham

JONESBORO -- Wanda Y. Dunham, 65, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born in Lake City and spent most of her life in the Jonesboro area. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Dunham; a daughter, Sherl Yvonne Dunham; and a son, Jerry Dunham.

Survivors include sons, Kevin Dunham and his wife Ann Marie of Jonesboro; David Dunham and his wife Terri of Trumann; Greg Dunham of Hampton, Va., and Mark Dunham; her fiancé, Loid Lassiter of Jonesboro; three stepsons, Justin Lassiter, John Lassiter and Junior Lassiter; eight grandchildren; and many friends and family.

A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Apt Church with Donnie Churchwell officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation, and burial will be private.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests you please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.

Eunice Gilbert

LAKE CITY -- Graveside services for Eunice Gilbert will be held today at 1 p.m. in Monette Memorial Cemetery in Monette.

Lucille Jones

POCAHONTAS -- Lucille Jones, daughter of Burgess and Melissa Johnson James, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in the Surridge community in Randolph County.

A former resident of Pocahontas, she was living in Mississippi, Texas and Missouri with her daughters and families. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Her husband of 62 years, Howard E. Jones; a son, Danny H. Jones; and a great-grandson, Nelson Duncan, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Pat Bly of Jefferson City, Barbara Duncan of Booneville, Miss., and Shelby Fletcher of Clebrun, Texas; a brother, Preston Parten and a sister, Wanda Bass, both of Pocahontas; a daughter-in-law, Doylene Jones of Cabot; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 Sunday afternoon in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Stan Little and Larry Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.

Ray Bly, Mark Bly, Andrew Duncan, Richard Duncan, Brit Jones, Mack Spakes, Wayland Barbour and Scott Pacheco will serve as pallbearers.

Coy Earl Martin

BLACK ROCK -- Coy Earl Martin, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 22.

He is survived by three sons, Jamie Martin of Arkansas, Terry Ford and Coy Ford, both of Philadelphia; four daughters, Sherry Martin of Ohio, Treva Durham of Barling, Reva Peterson of Larose, Ill., and Debbie Farrell of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, Paul Leroy Martin of Black Rock, Coy Martin of Maynard and Eugene Martin of Machesney Park, Ill.; one sister, Charlene Watkins of West Memphis; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Patrick Hovis officiating. Services are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.

P.D. Cain

PARAGOULD -- P.D. Cain, 86, of Paragould died Friday, March 2, in Jonesboro.

He was an Army veteran, VFW member, retired operating engineer for Western Construction and a Seed of Faith Pentecostal Church member.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Carter Cain; son, Stephen Wayne Cain; daughter, Inez Murray, both of Little Rock; two sisters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Heath Colonial Chapel with burial following in Pine Knot Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home.
