Deanna Jean Evans

WEINER -- Mrs. Deanna Jean Lawrence Evans, 63, of Weiner, died Sunday, March 11, at the family residence.

Born in Manila, she had lived in Weiner for the past 31 years and was formerly of Aurora, Ill. She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Paul Lawrence; son-in-law, Jerry Cunningham; and was the daughter of the late Paul Albert and Jessie Lee Jenkins Lawrence.

Survivors include her husband, Delbert Evans; three daughters, Regina Hudgens of Jonesboro, Rhonda Poff of Harrisburg and Devonda Pillow of Marmaduke; two sons, Allen Gaskins and Randall Evans, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Linda Pipkin of Trumann and Sheila Carter of Vanndale; one brother, Bobby Lawrence of Trumann; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with the Rev. John Threat Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg.

Pallbearers will be Harrell Poff, Todd Pillow, Mike Hudgens, Jayson Cunningham, Daniel Poff, Scott Carter and Corey Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Evans and Garry Carter.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 at Thompson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sonja Gammill

MONETTE -- Sonja Jeannine Gammill, 66, of Monette died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralf Gammill; parents, Hezekiah and Lennie Kirkman Shultz.

Survivors include sisters, Mareda Dortch of Rock Falls, Ill., Janice Reddick and Lamona Hatton, Paragould; brother, Darrell Shultz, West Covina, Calif.; nephews, Keith and Jeff Shultz; nieces, Terry Albert, Theresa Walden and Dana Patraw.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in New Liberty Cemetery with Revs. Captain Lovell and Marc Reeves officiating.

Memorials may be made to Monette First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ilene Grimes

HOXIE -- Ilene Mae Grimes, 78, of Hoxie passed away Saturday, March 10.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Rhea, Bonnie Becker and Linda Blazer, all of Hoxie, Sheron Swift of Pocahontas and Julie Walker of Robinsonville, Miss.; a sister, Nadine White of Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Junior Meeker officiating. Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m.

Lloyd 'Bud' Hunt

ASH FLAT -- Lloyd "Bud" Hunt, 80, of Ash Flat died Friday, March 9, in Missouri.

He served two years in the Korean War and was a member of the VFW in Arcadia, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hunt; sister, Maxine Launius; brother, Larry Hunt; sons, Richard Hunt, Tracey Leach and Steve Tharp; three daughters, Clara Rector, Donna Woodfin and Carmen Jackson; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pioneer Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Turkey Pen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 tonight in Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland.

Essie Mae Rodgers

PARAGOULD -- Essie Mae Rogers, 64, of Paragould died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Moro, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mae Rogers.

She was employed at Abilities Unlimited in Jonesboro and Paragould and attended the New Covenant Worship Center in Paragould.

Essie was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Grover Miller; sisters, Jo Powell and Kathy Rogers; and a brother, Roy Rogers.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Cross of Paragould and Mary Whitlock of Zion, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at Abilities Unlimited.

Visitation will be held today from 6-9 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday in Congdon Funeral Home at Zion. Burial will follow at Mount Olevet Cemetery, Zion.

Nellie Beryl Townsend

MANILA -- Mrs. Nellie Beryl Fleeman Townsend, 93, of Manila, the widow of Mr. Lewis E. Townsend, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007, at her home.

Born at Manila, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Ollie Burton Fleeman and was a lifelong Manila resident. She was a graduate of Manila High School and a lifelong member of Manila First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Woody M. and Nena Townsend of Manila; her brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Beverly Fleeman of Monroe, La.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Tori Berry and husband Chriss, Tod Townsend and wife Mary, all of Jonesboro, and Trey L. Townsend of Manila; and her great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

There will be no visitation.

The family has requested any memorials be made to Manila Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 6, Manila 72442 or First United Methodist Church, 209 North Baltimore, Manila 72442.

Harold C. Treadway and Vicki Treadway

PLATO, Mo. -- Harold C. "Butch" Treadway, 63, and his wife, Vicki, 65, of Plato died Friday, March 9, 2007, in a car accident three miles south of Roby, Mo.

Butch and Vicki were married on Feb. 5, 1982, in Light. During their marriage, they had lived in Arkansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Texas and Missouri. They had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Branson, Mo., this past February with family and friends. They were members of the Church of Christ in Houston, Mo.

Butch was retired from the Army after 28 years of military service. Butch was born in Jonesboro on Aug. 7, 1943, and grew up in Jonesboro. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1961, then joined the Air Force and served several tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 469 in Plato, a Shriner, a member of the York Rite in Rolla, a member of the Scottish Rite in Joplin and an at-large member of DAV No. 49 in Missouri.

Vicki was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was born in Walnut Corner on Jan. 22, 1942.

Vicki attended Greene County Tech schools in the late 1950s and later worked as a certified nurses' assistant in several area nursing homes.

Both are survived by their two sons, Steve Boren of Green Forest, Vince Boren of Lebanon, Mo.; a daughter, Kathy Boren of Green Forest; and four grandchildren, Jason Boren, Amanda Boren, Cody Boren and Brock Boren.

Butch is also survived by his mother, Mary L. "Molly" Davis; a brother, Doug Davis; a sister, Patricia Cockrell, all of Jonesboro; and several nephews. His father, Buck Davis, preceded him in death.

Vicki is survived by her sister, Rachel Hefner of Plato, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, Wendell Romans, preceded her in death.

Joint funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Don Pruitt and Dr. Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Herndon Cemetery north of Jonesboro. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers for Butch are Mark Cornish, Stephen Cornish, John Cornish, Philip Cornish, Douglas Davis, Jeremiah Davis, Blake Davis.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers for Vicki will be Vince Boren, Steve Boren, Cody Boren, Brock Boren, Barry Romans, Terry Romans.

They will receive friends and family from 5-7 p.m. today at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington, Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1910 Scenic Road, Jonesboro 72401, or the Church of Christ, 1126 State Highway 17, Houston, Mo. 65483.

Imogene M. Ballew

WEST MONROE, La. -- Mrs. Imogene Ballew, age 95, of West Monroe, La., formerly of Leachville, died Sunday at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe.

She was the widow of Mr. Zeb Ballew, who preceded her in death in 1981. Born in Ridgley, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Wyatt and Birdie Smith Mooring and had moved to Leachville in 1984.

She had been a buyer and saleswoman for Franklin Hardware Manufacturing and was a member of Leachville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph Z. Ballew of Oden and Kent M. Ballew of Little Rock; one daughter, Gelene Malmstrom of Monroe, La.; two brothers, Wyatt H. Mooring of Leesburg, Ala., and Horace Mooring of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Leachville Cemetery with Howard Funeral Service of Leachville in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Doris J. Barkley

JONESBORO -- Doris J. Barkley, 79, of Jonesboro died at St. Elizabeth Place on Sunday, March 18, 2007.

She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant United Methodist Church and Extension Homemaker Club. Doris was born in Jonesboro on Oct. 12, 1927, to Robert and Ida Pearl Kirby Pyle.

Those left to honor her memory are two sons, William Gary Barkley and Michael Barkley, both of Jonesboro; a brother James Pyle of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Snookie" Barkley, in 1981; her parents, Robert Grey and Ida Pearl Pyle; and a brother, R.G. Pyle.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Those honored to serve as her pallbearers will be David Wayne Barkley, Charles Edward Barkley, Michael Lynn Barkley, Bill Humphrey, Wayne Tillman and Jim Pyle.

They will be receiving friends this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
