Patty Sue Hubbard

GRUBBS — Mrs. Patty Sue Woodruff Hubbard, 77, of Grubbs died Friday, Sept. 7.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Dean Hubbard; one son, Mike Hubbard of Grubbs; two daughters, Chris Sutherland of Grubbs and Sandy Higgins of Campbell Station; brother, Junior Woodruff; sister, Emma Lee Victory; six grandchildren, Karie Lewis, Don Hubbard, Deavan Hughes, Matthew McCoy, Megan Manning and Dustin Higgins; six great-grandchildren; and one uncle, Virgil Bennett of Morrilton.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Grubbs Church of Christ with interment in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6-9.

Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Virginia Irene Michael

Paragould — Virginia Irene Michael, 86, of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Paragould.

She was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Portageville, Mo., the daughter of the late Adolphus and Dinkie McGath Stokes.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stearl Michael; her brothers, Monroe, Clyde and Wayne Stokes; and her sister, Euronah Dunn.

She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was saved in her apartment in 1992.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Don Clark of Paragould and Linda and Rick Jones of Buffalo, Mo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Arlene Michael of Paola, Kan., Edmond and Betty Michael of Dixie, Otto D. “Wayne” and Diana Michael of Kansas City, Kan., and Melvin Ray and Ginger Michael of Olathe, Kan.; sisters, Helen Dunn of California and Deloris Shepard of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers: Rudolph Stokes of Maine and Connie Doyle Stokes of Overland Park, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight in Heath Funeral Home.

Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday with Rick Jones and Matt Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Chapel Cemetery at Paragould. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, Arthritis Foundation of Arkansas or Greene Acres Nursing Home. Special thanks to the Greene Acres Nursing Home staff for the love and care they showed.

Ray Wesley Palmer

MANILA — Ray Wesley Palmer, 75, of Manila died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Manila.

He was born to Ledger and Annie Thomas Palmer and was retired from Randall Company.

Children, Donna Cole, Debrah Campbell, Linda Salomon, Jannette Spain, Annette Rardon, Johnny Palmer, Billy Palmer, Jimmy Palmer, Kenneth Palmer; brother, Larry Palmer; sisters, Shirley Isabell, Velma Formica, Kathryn Elmore; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren survive him.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Manila Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in Cobb Funeral Home.

Marie Annlee Powers

Paragould — Marie Annlee Turner Powers, 73, of Paragould died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in Paragould.

She was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Burnt Hill, the daughter of the late Willie Alfred and Ruby Annlee Roger Turner.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.

She was retired from Ely and Walker shirt factory and a member of the Newton Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Powers of the home; sons, Mike McDaniel of Jonesboro and Kevin McDaniel of Paragould; stepdaughters, Debbie Powers and Brenda Powers; stepsons, Ricky Powers, Roger Powers and Gary Powers, all of Corning, Calif.; sister, Lou Ella Tedder of Paragould; brother, James Turner of Ninilchik, Alaska; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in Heath Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at Pine Knot Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Monday with L.R. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Knot Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Newton Street Church of Christ.

Robert Taylor Stuckey

ATLANTA — Robert Taylor Stuckey, 49, of Atlanta died Thursday night, Sept. 6, at Hernando, Miss.

Born in Memphis, Taylor had lived in Atlanta since 1976 and was formerly of Trumann. He was a principal partner with Insight Design Architecture Firm in Atlanta, graduate of Georgia Tech University and Trumann High School, board member of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Comraderie de Bordeaux and a member of St. Mark Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Mr. Stuckey was preceded in death by his father, J.C. “Jake” Stuckey, in 1986.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Natalie Taylor Stuckey of Little Rock; one sister, Cecile Stuckey Rose and her husband Tom of Little Rock; one brother, John C. Stuckey and his wife Amy of Trumann; one niece, Natalie Marie Stuckey of Trumann; and two nephews, Thomas Rose of Little Rock and J.C. “Jake” Stuckey II of Trumann.

Memorial services will be Monday morning at 11 in First Baptist Church of Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will be private in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be today from 4-6 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the High Museum of Art, 1280 Peachtree St. Northeast, Atlanta 30309.

Jennye Mae Tarpley

OIL TROUGH — Mrs. Jennye Mae Edwards Tarpley, 83, of Oil Trough died Thursday, Sept. 6.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie Tarpley; one son, Gary Tarpley; three brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Crutcher of Oil Trough; four grandchildren, Kathy Sexton, Michael Crutcher, Blake Tarpley and Tiffany Robertson; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Sexton, Andrew Sexton, Whitney Crutcher, Alex Tarpley and Hunter Hobby.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Oil Trough United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maple Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 3-6 p.m.

Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Janice Lea Whaley

WEINER — Janice Lea Whaley, 37, of Weiner died Friday, Sept. 7, in an auto accident on Highway 18 in Grubbs.

Born in Jonesboro on Sept. 22, 1969, to Larry Whaley and Judy Ashcraft Nichols of Weiner. She was a graduate of Weiner High School.

Survivors include her mother, Judy Ashcraft Nichols, and stepfather, Bill Nichols, both of Weiner; her father, Larry Whaley of Idabell, Okla.; grandmother, Maunee Ashcraft of Weiner; and two stepbrothers, Robert Nichols of Jonesboro and B.J. Nichols of Des Arc.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rommie Ashcraft.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Weiner Oak Grove Cemetery with David Howard officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Riceland International.

Lasting memorials may be made to Weiner Fire Department.

John Willard Deatherage

GASSVILLE — John Willard Deatherage, 75, of Gassville passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in Gassville Nursing Center.

He was born March 21, 1932, in Cotter to the late John Albert and Willie Bernice Trimble Deatherage. He was a retired automotive mechanic.

Mr. Deatherage married Cora Lee Kirkland on Dec. 7, 1954, at Mountain Home. She preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a stepmother, Regina Deatherage.

Mr. Deatherage is survived by two sons, Dennis Deatherage of Ozark and Grant Deatherage of Marshall; two daughters, Darlene Clark of Flippin and Susan Armstrong of Paragould; one sister, Laverne Allen of Gassville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in Roller Funeral Home Chapel of Mountain Home. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.

Judy D. Duck

Whitton — Judy D. Duck, 61, of Whitton, passed away at her residence Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.

She taught at Wilson Middle School and was retired after 28 years. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in Roller-Citizens Fu­neral Home at West Memphis.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment in Crittenden Memorial Park of Marion.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey Duck of Whitton; two sons, Lance A. Duck (Kristie) of Harrison and Brian K. Duck of Whitton; one sister, Jane Terry of Whitton; two brothers, Lindsay Chandler of Whitton and Wallace Chandler of West Memphis; a grandchild, Halie Duck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, David Chandler.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
