William Hibbs

CAVE CITY — William Hibbs, 85 of Cave City died Tuesday at his home.

Born Oct. 4, 1921, to William and Icadora Hibbs, he was an Army veteran of WW II and retired.

Survivors include his sons, LeRoy Van Dusen of Argos, Ind., and Raymond Van Dusen of Wheatland, Colo.; daughters, Dorothy Poledna of Niles, Mich., Lillian Cotton and Pamela Stice, both of Cave City, and Sandra Norris of Batesville; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date in Walkerton Cemetery at Walkerton, Ind.

Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home.

Jerry A. Hinton

VANNDALE — Jerry A. Hinton, 66, of Vanndale died Monday.

Survivors include his children, Anthony Hinton of Little Rock, Bryan Hinton and Rhonda Robertson, both of Hindsville, Ga., and Sheril Pearson of Wynne; sisters, Era Eggleston of Jacksonville, Yvonne Bailey of Wynne, Gertrude Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Rosemary Isreal of Paramount, Calif.; brother, Leroy Hinton of Mineral Springs; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. in Caldwell M.B. Church at Vanndale with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5-7 in Woodard Funeral Service Chapel at Wynne.

Fred Johnson

NAPLES, Fla. — Frederick L. Johnson, 90, of Naples died Sept. 7, 2007.

He was born March 6, 1917, in Detroit, the son of Lawrence and Charlotte Blunke Johnson. He retired from the corrections department of Detroit in 1977.

Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Naval Submarine Service.

He was also a life member of the American Legion and VFW posts of Plymouth, Mich., life member of Elks Lodge, 2010 of Naples, and a Shriner for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Johnson; daughter, Madolyn and husband John Paroske of Centennial, Colo.; son, Donald and wife Kathleen Johnson of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Bressler of Monroe, Mich., and Barbara Ulrey of Kewaden, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Andrea and Ellie Johnson and Marcus and Darren Paroske; four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Emma, Laurel and Colton; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be in Snow Cemetery, Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Debbie Spangler officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home.

Mary Ruth Johnson

LEACHVILLE — Mrs. Mary Ruth Johnson, 90, of Leachville, died Tuesday at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.

Born in Hornersville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William and Leona Ragsdale Marshall and had lived most of her life in Leachville.

The widow of Mr. Virgil S. Johnson, she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and served many years as church librarian. She taught in Leachville Public Schools and was later employed as librarian for the Leachville branch of the Mississippi County Library System.

Mrs. Johnson was a former member of the Mississippi County Hospital Board and Leachville Chapter AC, P.E.O. sisterhood.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Max Johnson.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Myrna Johnson of Sikeston, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Ronnie Kennett of Leachville and Sherry and Joe Masner of Jonesboro.

She leaves six grandchildren and their spouses, Tommy John and Penny Kennett of Jonesboro, Ron and Kelly Kennett of Jefferson, Ga., Jeff and Paula Johnson and Jennifer and Murray Wells, all of Memphis, and Nathan Sanders and Marshall and Nikki Wildy, all of Leachville. She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church at Leachville with the Rev. Rudy Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy John Kennett, Ron Kennett, Jeff Johnson, Marshall Wildy, Tommy Kennett, Chris Kennett, Murray Wells and Nathan Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers will include Keith Kennett, Jacob Sanders, Evan Sanders, Jeb Wells, John Parker Johnson and Jack Johnson.

Serving as flower girls will be Samantha Kennett, Sydney Wildy, Emma Johnson, Lily Ruth Wells and Kathryn Wildy.

John J. Lee Jr.

LOMBARD, Ill. — John J. “Jack” Lee Jr., 83, of Lombard died Thursday, Sept. 6, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill.

He had lived in Lombard since 1957 and retired from Service Web Offset in 1989 where he was a printer for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mardell Hulen Lee, formerly of Swifton, a son, William Lee and wife Janet; daughter, Pamela Capezio and husband Joseph; sister, Dorothy Beard; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Swifton Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Worm officiating.

Arrangements are by House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Kina V. McDonald

JONESBORO — Kina V. McDonald, 41, of Jonesboro died Sept. 9, 2007.

Survivors include her husband, Lonnie E. McDonald of Jonesboro; daughters, Desirae Anderson and Anastasia Anderson, both of Jonesboro; mother, Eddie Mae Anderson of Jonesboro; sisters, Tina Hester, Robbie Anderson, and Malishawndae Anderson, all of Jonesboro, and Zina Walker of Memphis; and one grandchild.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church at Jonesboro. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Anthony Funeral Home of West Memphis.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.

Margaret Alison McDonald

March 13, 1964 - Sept. 11, 2007

LITTLE ROCK — Margaret Alison McDonald, 43, died at her home in Little Rock early Tuesday, of an apparent heart attack.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist Church Chapel at Jonesboro with the Rev. John Miles officiating.

Visitation will follow in the church’s fellowship hall.

Langford-Bookout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Lyden of Little Rock; a daughter, Julian Lyden of Little Rock; her parents, Tom and Jo Alice McDonald of Jonesboro; her grandfather, Gene McGuire of Blytheville; and her brother, Mark McDonald of Keller, Texas.

Her brother, Michael McDonald preceded her in death along with grandparents, Harry and Wilma McDonald and Vivian McGuire.

A graduate of Hendrix College and Pittsburg State University, Kan., Alison attended South School, MacArthur Junior High and Jonesboro High School. She was a member of the JHS volleyball team and Hendrix swim team.

An accomplished artist, she had works exhibited at many Little Rock venues and also earned a certified professional photographer degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA). She won honors for her work from both PPA and Arkansas Professional Photographers Association.

She had worked in parent activities at Anthony School in Little Rock where her daughter is an 8th-grader.

In recent years she had been in poor health after complications from back surgery.

Hettie Ogles

PARAGOULD — Hettie Ogles, 79, of Paragould died Wednesday.

She retired from Emerson Electric, was an Avon representative and member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

Survivors include children, Wayne Ogles, Dwight Ogles, Rita Greer, Sheila Erby and Vickie Ogles; brother, Billy Stanfill; sister, Dorothy Mason; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-9 in Mitchell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with James A. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Carl Perrin

JONESBORO — Carl Perrin, 89, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday afternoon at NEA Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Pauline Pickett

PARAGOULD — Pauline Pickett, 90, of Paragould, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born August 18, 1917, in Greene County, she was a retired cook. Miss Pickett was a member of First Baptist Church of Paragould.

She is survived by one brother, Billy Pickett of El Paso, Texas.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday in Paragould Mini-Rise with Joe Marsden officiating.
