James Lee Thomas

Dec. 28, 1970 - Sept. 16, 2007

WYNNE — James Lee Thomas, 36, of Wynne died Sunday.

Born at Wynne to Charlie and Jeanie Webb, he married Kelley Gray on June 1, 1991.

He was a volunteer firefighter, constable of Colt and pastor’s assistant at House of Prayer. Mr. Thomas worked as a refrigeration service technician.

Survivors include his wife, Kelley; parents; children, Samuel and Mary Catherine; and three sisters, Norma Jean, Mary and Amanda.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel at Wynne with interment in Hughes Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Vaughn

BROOKLAND — Mary Ellen Vaughn, 65, of Brookland died Monday, Sept. 17, in St. Bernards Medical Center of Jonesboro.

Born in Jonesboro on Feb. 24, 1942, to William and Gladys Kelley Gregson. She retired from General Electric and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved watching them every opportunity that she had. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Vaughn of the home; one son, Scott Vaughn of Jonesboro; two daughters, Tammy Harmon of Bella Vista and Kelly Stevens of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Gregson and Perry Gregson, both of Flint, Mich.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery with Bill Thornton Officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Luke Vaughn, Adam Harmon, Chad Harmon, David Vaughn, Jeff Stevens and Scotty Stevens.

Ima Glendean Daggett

LITTLE ROCK — Ima Glendean Daggett, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Medical Center in Little Rock.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Lillian Francis Hackworth

IMBODEN — Lillian Francis Hackworth, 90, died Friday in Randolph Home.

Her husband, Lehman “Hack” Hackworth; a son, Charles Hackworth; and brother, Charles Starr preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Robert Hackworth of The Colony, Texas; three brothers, Rhea Starr Jr. of Jonesboro, Everett Starr of North Little Rock and Hubert Starr of Paragould; four sisters, Virginia Castleman and Ruth Potter of Pocahontas, Roberta Stephens of Imboden and Mary Pope of Mountain Home; four grandchildren, Heather Hanson of Arcadia, Okla., Ryan Hackworth of Olathe, Kan., Clyde Hackworth and Lynn Throesch, both of Pocahontas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Assembly of God Church of Imboden with Michael Abel officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 this evening at McNabb Funeral Home.

Christine Laverta Hensley

HICKORY RIDGE — Christine Laverta Hensley, 75, of Hickory Ridge passed away Sept. 20, 2007, with family members at her bedside.

She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.

She was born April 5, 1932, in Wilson, the daughter of the late Herbert and Belle Brownderville of Tilton.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing and taking care of her flowers as hobbies.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alta Motes.

Survivors include her daughter, Joy Sue Clarkson of Arcadia, Mo.; two sons, Bobby Houston of Winnie, Texas, and Donnie Houston of Walnut Hill, Fla.; five brothers, Leon and Boyce Brownderville of Jonesboro, Carlos Brownderville of Weiner and Alton and Jerry Brownderville of McCrory; two sisters, Charlene Willis of Harrisburg and Mittie Robinson of Memphis; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Leon, Carlos, Boyce, Alton and Jerry Brownderville and Bobby Houston.

Visitation was held Friday at Heber Springs Funeral Home in Heber Springs.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Lewis Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Willis officiating.

Arrangements are by Heber Springs Funeral Home, (501) 887-9152.

Janice D. Hollands

LAKE CITY — Janice D. Hollands, 60, passed away Thursday Sept. 20, 2007, as the result of an auto accident near Lake City.

She was born in Caraway and had lived there most of her life. She was a dietary cook for Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City and also a homemaker. She was a member of the Black Oak Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bond McCowen; one brother, Kenneth Allen McCowen; and one son, Floyd Douglas Hollands.

Survivors include her loving husband, Roy Lee Hollands of the home; two sons, Timothy Lee Hollands and Mitchell Scott Hollands, both of Caraway; mother, Opal McCowen of Rivervale; three sisters, Barbara Hanner of Evening Shade, Susie Anderson and Diane Davis, both of Caraway; and six grandchildren, Joshua Lee Hollands, Mary Elizabeth Hollands, Eric Douglas Hollands, Bethany Hollands, Gabriel Hollands and Caleb Hollands.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Black Oak Assembly of God Church at Black Oak with the Rev. Billy Moore and the Rev. Glen Strawn officiating. Burial will follow in Caraway Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6–9 this evening in the church.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Hollands, Rickey Hollands, Floyd Hollands, Frank Towery, Roy Towery, Jeremy Towery and Greg Towery.

Honorary pallbearers will include Odis Gilbee and Michael Hollands.

Lucy Mae Jones

BRADFORD — Mrs. Lucy Mae Jones, 73, of Bradford died Thursday.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anthony Jones; son, Milas Anthony Jones; grandson, Jeremy Jones; and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Kay Lawrence and Dovie Hicks; brothers, Elzia Lee James and Ed James Jr.; sisters, Malla Lou Story and Hester Smith; grandchildren, Ladonna Fulks, Ashley Fulks and Danny Hicks Jr.; and great-grandchild, Gavin Hicks.

Services will be today at 10 a.m. in Bradford Assembly of God. Interment will be in Coffeyville Cemetery.

Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Weldon Sandberg

JONESBORO — Weldon Sandberg, 62, of Jonesboro died Friday afternoon at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Retha Street

CALAMINE — Retha Fulbright Street, 91, of Calamine died Thursday in White River Medical Center, Batesville.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Evonne Baxter of Calamine; stepson, James E. Street of Batesville; stepdaughters, Margie Peterson of Cave City and Betty Kimmer of Little Rock; grandchildren, Zack Baxter and Keeli Gay, both of Calamine; 11 stepgrandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie Church of Christ with burial in Lebanon Cemetery north of Nelsonville.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 in Qualls Funeral Home, Cave City.

Velores Barber

JONESBORO — Velores Barber, 87, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Barber.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

William Eugene Britt

POCAHONTAS — William Eugene (Bill) Britt of Pocahontas, son of the late Howard Britt and Margaret (Twomommy) Herring Britt, was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Canton, Miss. He died Sept. 20, 2007, at his home at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 6 days.

He was united in marriage to Pamula Ann Moore. He was employed as an engineer for Waterloo Industrial in Pocahontas for many years.

Graveside services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, Miss.

Shirley Coleman

JONESBORO — Shirley Coleman, 60, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and have been entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
