William Eugene Britt

POCAHONTAS — William Eugene “Bill” Britt of Pocahontas, son of the late Howard Britt and Margaret (Twomommy) Herring Britt, was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Canton, Miss. He died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at his home. He was 65 years, one month and six days old.

He was united in marriage to Pamula Ann Moore. He was employed as an engineer for Waterloo Industrial of Pocahontas for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Bryan Britt of Conway and David Britt of Waynesboro, Va.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Britt of Arcadia, Mo., and Jackson Britt of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his brother, Howard (Sonny) Britt Jr.; and his father and mother.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. in Cox-Waymon Chapel under the direction of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parkway Cemetery at Kosciusko, Miss.

Freddie Mae Broadaway

MENA — Freddie Mae Broadaway, age 82, of Mena passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Mena Regional Health Center.

She was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Philadelphia, Miss., to W.A. and Lena Daws Echols. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Broadaway on Feb. 28, 1941, in Trumann.

She was a homemaker, owned a fabric-sewing center at Trumann and Jonesboro and was employed at Harrisburg by American Greetings Card Co. She lived at Trumann, Blytheville, Marked Tree and Jonesboro before moving to Mena in February 2004.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Jo and Dr. Wally Liles of Mena and Van Buren; grandchildren, Kerri Liles Moehlenpah and husband Sam of San Diego, Ashlea Liles Ison and husband John of North Little Rock, Wally Liles III and wife Sarah of Marion and Kenny Liles of San Diego; and great-grandchildren, Joshlyn Kate and Atalie Anne Moehlenpah of San Diego and Conner Wallace Ison of North Little Rock.

She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, W.A. and Nettie Bee Echols of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Broadaway; her daughter, Mary Frances Broadaway; three sisters; and a brother.

Funeral services are under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in the funeral home.

The service will be in Calvary Pentecostal Church of Jonesboro on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Chance and Kenny Liles officiating. Interment will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Shirley Coleman

Jonesboro — Shirley Coleman, 60, of Jonesboro left this world to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her residence.

Born in Jonesboro, she was a member of Brookland Baptist Church and was employed at Quebecor World Press. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed every moment she had with her grandchildren and her church family. She also enjoyed trout fishing on the White River and other outdoor family activities.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Coleman of the home; two sons, Lamon Kaiser and Nathan Coleman, both of Jonesboro; one daughter, Niki Coleman of Paragould; her mother, Cora Kelley of Jonesboro; one brother, Walton Kelley of Winchester, W.Va.; and her grandchildren, Joshua Kaiser of Jonesboro and Emma Howell and Landon Howell, both of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James Kelley.

A celebration of her life will be held in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Visitation will held at the funeral home tonight from 6-8.

Family requests lasting memorials to Pine Log Cemetery c/o Teddy Foster, 11656 Highway 49 North, Brookland; St. Bernards Hospice, 2813 Forrest Home Road, Jonesboro; the Craighead County chapter of the American Cancer Society, 1205 South Madison St., Jonesboro; and Brookland Baptist Church, 200 North Oak St., Brookland.

Gean ‘Buddy’ Davis

BLYTHEVILLE — Gean “Buddy” Davis, 50, of Manila died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in Blytheville.

Wife, Darlene Webster Davis; children, Valerie Davis, Robert Davis, Michael Davis, all of the home, and Ashley Marie Snyder of Cleveland, Miss.; parents, Faye O. and Juanita Larkin Davis of Collierville, Tenn.; brothers, Ray Davis of Alexandria, Ala., Brent Davis of Rogers, Dr. Benny Davis of Simpsonville, S.C.; and sisters, Susan Arimura of Lake Charles, La., and Cynthia Davis of Collierville survive him.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until service time in the funeral home.

David E. Dobbins

PEACH ORCHARD — David E. Dobbins, 69, of Peach Orch­ard died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Dobbins, Bill Dobbins and Allen Walley; and four sisters, Rozetta Thompson, Loretta Shields, Carol Blanton and Marie Malott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Bulah Dobbins; two nephews; and one brother-in-law.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 in Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Redenbo Cemetery of Corning.

Herman Ezell

WALNUT RIDGE — Herman Ez­ell, 56, of Walnut Ridge passed away Saturday, Sept. 22.

Born Aug. 4, 1951, in Jonesboro, son of Slyvester and Effie Mae Thomas Ezell, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army, sergeant first class, a truck driver and a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church at Eaton.

He was united in marriage to Sherry Strickland on May 12, 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Ezell of the home; four sons, Jeremy Ezell of Little Rock, Justin and Jonathan Ezell of the home and Jason Ezell of Hoxie; a sister, Jewel “Dink” Rhodes of Caraway; a brother, Paul Ezell of Ravenden; three grandchildren; a nephew, Mike Rhodes; and a great-nephew, Austin Rhodes, both of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Bryan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Maynard under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8.

Bonnie Fender

WALNUT RIDGE — Bonnie Fen­der, 82, of Walnut Ridge died Saturday, Sept. 22.

Survivors are her husband, John Fender of the home; children, John Allen Fender Jr., Greg Fender and Bonita Hoss, all of Walnut Ridge, and Diana “Dink” Morgan of Bono; siblings, Henriett Stone of Walnut Ridge and Delmar Massey of Walcott; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bryan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park with Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie in charge.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Tinnie Ann Gallion

TYRONZA — Tinnie Ann Gallion, 85, of Tyronza died on Saturday, Sept. 22, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was a member of Neiswander Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glendell Gallion; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Gill.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Gallion of Marked Tree and John Gallion of Henderson, Tenn.; four daughters, Patsy Gallion of Mountain View, Shirley Parrish of West Memphis, Linda Lewis of Horseshoe Lake and Tammy Higgins of Tyronza; one brother, Ulus Alfred Keeling of California; one sister, Nellie Kimery of Marked Tree; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in Murphy Funeral Home.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Murphy Funeral Home. Phillip Rogers and Rick Kimery will officiate.

Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Lollis W. ‘Butch’ Hendrix

June 10, 1942 - Sept. 21, 2007

EVENING SHADE — Lollis W. “Butch” Hendrix, 65, of Evening Shade died Friday at his home.

Born at Flint, Mich., he was a self-employed carpenter and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lollis Wayne Hendrix.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; mother, Juanita Herling; and five sisters, Nadra Mitchell, Laura Addis, Kim Morgan, Tierney Garrett and Bronwyn Springland.

Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City with Larry Loggins officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Zell Jaynes

TRUMANN — Mr. Zell Jaynes, 85, of Trumann passed away Sunday afternoon at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.

James C. ‘J.C.’ Peppers

JONESBORO — James C. “J.C.” Peppers, 71, of rural Jonesboro died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Barton, Mr. Peppers lived at Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1971. He was a retired elevator mechanic and a life member of International Union of Elevator Constructors. He served in the elevator industry from 1963-1991.

J.C. was a Christian and attended New Life Christian Church in Bono, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Rossie Mae Evans Peppers; three sisters, Orela Thompson, Lonie Peppers and Brenda Nichols; and three brothers, Willie Peppers, Arnie Peppers and Curtiss Peppers.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Catherine Tilley Peppers of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lola Beavers, Lela and Terry Smith and Donna Peppers, all of Jonesboro, and Laura and Wayne Gramling of Brookland; three sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Wendy Peppers of Bay, Steve Peppers and Judy Vaughn of Memphis and Dale Peppers of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Maedreau Staggs of Rosemark, Tenn., and Glenda Boese of Walla Walla, Wash.; two brothers, R.V. Peppers and Junior Peppers, both of Memphis; 14 grandchildren, Catherine Willis, Candace Weeks, Jared Simpkins, Bryan Peppers, Lasha Simpkins, Cody Willoughby, Tasha Allen, Drace Boon, Conner Boon, Caleb Penland, Landon Finnegan, Tiffanie Mills, Amy Jones and Jonathan Gramling; and 15 great-grandchildren, Kaley Russell, Lexi Willis, Kaitlyn Simpkins, Chase Weeks, Ethan Willis, Clayton Peppers, Lauren Weeks, Cade Simpkins, Kyra Reece, Jazzmyne Mills, Hannah Bartsch, Kyler Bartsch, Noah Bartsch, Carter Gramling and Katie Jones.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 10 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Melvan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Gibson Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Jared Simpkins, Bryan Peppers, Cody Willoughby, Wayne Gramling, Terry Smith and Mark Willis.

Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. Danny Grubbs, Bill French, Brian French, Perry Isbell, George Dulin, Jim Vinson, Larry Kious, Danny Haney and Shawn Cook.

Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Emerson Funeral Home.
