James C. Prince

HORNERSVILLE, Mo. — James C. Prince, 78, of Hornersville, formerly of Rector, was born Aug. 18, 1929, and passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Twin Rivers Hospital in Kennett, Mo.

Funeral services will be Thursday in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel of Rector at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Vincent

BAY — Peggy Vincent, 69, of Bay died Monday morning, Sept. 24, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

A native and lifelong resident of Bay, Peggy was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Bay where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shanley Vincent; her parents, Cecil and Oda Gibson Ashlock; a sister, Joyce Sims; and two brothers, Ernie Ashlock and Jerry Ashlock.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Vincent of Decatur, Ala., Greg Vincent of Jonesboro and Allen Vincent of Benton; three sisters, Betty Rogers and Janette Richie, both of Bay, and Shirley Glover of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren, Shelby, Tori, Jake, Meredith and Luke Vincent.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in First Baptist Church at Bay with Bill Passmore and Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers include Michael Ashlock, Jeremy Ashlock, Mark Richie, Randy Mink, Billy Stanley and David Hundley.

Honorary pallbearers include Doug Richie, Tommy Glover, Wilford McMasters and Randy Bowers.

Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Emerson Funeral Home at Jonesboro.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, P.O. Box 190, Bay 72411.

Bobby H. Caldwell

POCAHONTAS — Bobby H. Caldwell, 78, of Pocahontas passed away Thursday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Caldwell of the home; a daughter, Susan Brown of Lilburn, Ga.; a brother, Gene Caldwell of St. Louis; a sister, Betty Gray of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Shay Caldwell officiating. Interment will be in Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8.

Clara Stotts Heathcock

TRUMANN — Mrs. Clara Lucille “Curt” Stotts Heathcock, 92, of Trumann died Thursday morning at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Elm Grove, she had lived in Trumann for the past 87 years and was formerly of New Mexico.

She was a retired teacher for the Trumann Public Schools, worked for the Trumann Museum for 17 years, was a member of the Ladies 70 and up Sunday School class, Maple Grove Extension Homemakers Club, Arkansas Retired Teachers and Maple Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Omer H. Stotts, and her second husband, J.W. Heathcock; three sisters; one brother; and her parents, Yeuin and Mattie Chambliss.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hoelscher (Jack) of Memphis and Wanda Stephens (Ron) of Trumann; two sons, Bobby Stotts (Bonnie) and Jimmy Stotts (Mickey), all of Trumann; one stepson, Kenneth Heathcock of Fayetteville, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Maple Grove Baptist Church at Trumann with Dr. Jim Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies 70 and up Sunday School class.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Maple Grove Baptist Church, 13509 Maple Grove Lane, Trumann 72472.

Freddie Lee LaMunion

CARROLLTON, Mo. — Freddie Lee LaMunion, 75, of Carrollton, Mo., passed away Sept. 26, 2007, at Harry S. Truman Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

Freddie was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Brosley, Mo., the son of Walter Lee and Josie Bell Irving LaMunion. He attended school in Southeast Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army and was a farmer.

Freddie is survived by his children, Deborah Lack of Smithville, Mo., Robert LaMunion of Missouri, Freddie LaMunion Jr. of Wacapella, Mo., and David LaMunion and Rachel, both of Little Rock; sisters, Anna Bell Davis, of Campbell, Mo., Mary Price of Jonesboro, Margie Looney and Sue Bennett, both of Carrollton, Nola Robb and Barbara Gerke, both of Booneville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lora Genell LaMunion, Jeniva Alls, Feda Davis and Melba Jean Estes.

Graveside services will today at 2:30 p.m. in Miami Cemetery, Miami, Mo., conducted by the Rev. Bert Hughes. military services will be conducted by Pence-Lovell-England V.F.W. Post 1773. Arrangements are with Gibson Funeral Home of Carrollton.

C. Scott Moyers

LAS VEGAS — C. Scott Moyers born April 18, 1914, in Weiner, died on Sept. 21, 2007, in Las Vegas at the age of 93.

He was the second son of W.R. and Nannie Scott Moyers. His early school days were in Jonesboro, and he attended Arkansas State College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings and one grandson, John Scott Portera.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a partner with his father in rice farming for several years. After 25 years with River Brand Rice and Riviana Foods he resigned to be a principal in the forming of Intermedco Inc., where he served as CEO and chairman.

When that company was acquired by Thomas Tilling, a British company, he served as president and CEO of the holding company. He was appointed to the board of directors of the British company, traveling extensively, serving until retirement in 1983.

Houston was his home from 1961 until relocating to Las Vegas in 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Puryear Moyers; daughters, Ann M. Syfert and Mary Scott Ellis; grandchildren, Mary Margaret Phillips and Mike B. Phillips; great-grandchildren, Maya Phillips and Dominic Joseph Scott Rossi; niece, Nan Chapman; and nephews, Bud Langford and Mike Moyers.

Scott was a longtime member of Memorial Drive Methodist Church, Houston, serving on the board and in various other capacities in the early formation of the church.

A memorial service was held at Las Ventanas Retirement Community.

Charles “Chili” McDaniel

TYRONZA — Charles G. “Chili” McDaniel Sr., 80, of Tyronza passed away Sept. 28, 2007, at his residence.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Tyronza First Baptist Church and graveside services 11 a.m. Monday in Tyronza Cemetery with interment following.

Mr. McDaniel was a member of Tyronza First Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran, retired founder and firefighter for Tyronza Fire Department and charter member of the Tyronza Hunting Club

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Mc Daniel, and a daughter, Sandra McDaniel.

He is survived by a son, Mark McDaniel and wife Melody of Tyronza; five grandchildren, Stacey Andres and Stephanie Koch, both of Floyds Knob, Ind., Greg McDaniel of Marked Tree, Matt McDaniel of Tifton, Ga., and Justus McDaniel of Tyronza; and one great-grandchild, Alyssa McDaniel of Marked Tree.

Caregivers were Sandy Aker, Janis Drace, Carolyn Birdsong, Cathy Ford and Cathy Cox.

Pallbearers will be Don Barton, Hank Emrich, Lonnie Wyatt, Vance McDaniel, Mike Hood and Billy Hood. Honorary Pallbearers will be R.D. Gill and Sonny Justus.

Memorials may be made to Tyronza First Baptist Church, Oak St. Tyronza 72386.

Ella Mae Miller

OSCEOLA — Ella Mae Miller, 58, of Osceola died Sept. 26, 2007.

She was an interior decorator and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her parents, Richard Jr. and Mattie Garth of Blytheville; daughter, Marion Gaines of Osceola; grandson, Jimmy Jones Jr. of Osceola; sisters, Mattie Henton of Blytheville and Sophie Meredith of Chicago; and brothers, Charles Garth of Osceola and Walter Evans of Chicago.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Bethlehem M.B. Church with burial in Whiteside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Ruby Willene Riggs

BLYTHEVILLE — Mrs. Ruby Willene Riggs, 91, of Blytheville died Thursday, Sept. 27, at her home.

She was a longtime resident of Blytheville and a retired employee of Montgomery Ward.

She leaves her son, Larry Riggs of Yakima, Wash.; two daughters, Shirley Andrews of Blytheville and Willene Willis of Winder, Ga.; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
