PAUL VINCENT RILEY

Paul Vincent Riley, the infant son of Jamie Lee Riley Sr. and Susan Renah Jackson Riley of Manila, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

In addition to his parents, he leaves two brothers, Jamie Lee Riley Jr. and Shawn Wesley Allen Riley, both of the home;

His paternal grandparents, Billy Criswell of Blytheville and Linda Parks Cogburn of Leachville; and

His maternal grandparents, Henry W. Jackson and Joyce B.J. Merriman Jackson, both of Manila.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Leachville Cemetery, under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

WALTERINE AUSTIN FORSHEE

Mrs. Walterine Austin Forshee, 83, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Blytheville, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home. Born July 15, 1918, in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Hamp and Lela Finn Austin. She was a retired shoe store manager and affiliated with the Nazarene Church. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework and crafts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Herbert Forshee.

Mrs. Forshee leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Connie Forshee of Arlington, Texas;

One daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Bob N. White of Russellville;

One brother, Leon Austin of Utica, Miss.;

Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorene and Jim Sykes of Gilbertown, Ala., and Mildred and Solon Lott of Jonesboro; and

Six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. Mr. Eugene Huntington officiated, and burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

YVONNE HOWELL

Ms. Yvonne Howell, 44, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Blytheville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Born Nov. 2, 1957, in Saginaw, Mich., she had been a nurse's aid.

Ms. Howell leaves her father, David Ray of Argo, Ill.;

Three sons, John Franklin, Frank Goodman and Darius Goodman, all of Blytheville;

One daughter, Latasha Goodman of Blytheville;

Ten sisters, Marilyn Bailey, Deborah Ray and Gail Ray, all of Argo, Ill., Erica Ray of Palos Hills, Ill., Brenda Goodman and Janice Williams, both of Blytheville, Marilyn Goodman, Gwen Hill, Luther Mae Studivent and Sue Goodman, all of Saginaw; and

Twelve grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville, with Elder John Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

ADELLE METHENY

Mrs. Adelle Metheny, 90, of Blytheville, died this morning at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Blytheville. Born Dec. 27, 1911, in Waverley, Tenn., the daughter of Joe and Ethel Hensley Bledsoe, she was a lifelong Blytheville resident and affiliated with the Church of God. Mrs. Metheny was a homemaker and devoted mother who, according to family members, enjoyed crocheting, sewing and needlework.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Metheny, and one son, Gene Metheny.

Mrs. Metheny leaves four sons, Jack Metheny of Michigan City, Ind., Lewis Metheny of Dallas, and Waymon and Clayton Metheny, both of Blytheville;

Two daughters, Betty Huffman and Barbara Fannin, both of Blytheville;

One sister, Velda Espinoza of West Memphis; and

Eighteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JESSIE LEE THOMAS

Mrs. Jessie Lee Thomas, 73, of Marked Tree, formerly of Turrell, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Marked Tree. Born in Schlater, Miss., she had been a driver for the Area Agency of Aging. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Turrell and the Order of Eastern Star.

She leaves one daughter, Ruby Thomas of Newport;

Nine sons, Freeman Wiseman and Larry Thomas, both of Chicago, John Thomas, Ray Thomas and Henry Thomas, all of Marked Tree, Peter Thomas and Willie Thomas, both of West Palm Beach, Fla., Frank Thomas of Milwaukee and Jay Thomas of Blytheville;

Three sisters, Lottie Thomas of Chicago and Birdia Polk and Ann Washington, both of Gary, Ind.;

One brother of Greenville, Miss.;

One brother-in-law, Ted Polk;

Six daughters-in-law and one son-in-law; and

Twenty-one grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 42, in Turrell. Burial will take place at River View Cemetery in Marked Tree.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the W.H. Johnson Funeral Home in Earle.

ALFONZO WARREN

Mr. Alfonzo Warren, 67, of West Memphis, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Mattie Mae Warren of West Memphis;

Eight daughters, Jacqueline Macklin of Memphis, Shirley Washington, Erma Jean Warren, Sharon Warren, Debra Ann Warren, Denise Warren and Brenda Howard, all of West Memphis, and Joann Coburn of East St. Louis, Ill.;

Five sons, Phillip Brooks of East St. Louis, Sonny Ray Warren, Nathaniel Warren and Reginald Warren, all of West Memphis, and James Brown of Parkin;

Three sisters, Theresa Barber of West Memphis, Clara Warren of Blytheville and Edna Mae Gordon of Dallas;

Two brothers, Isaac Warren of Little Rock and Dave Warren of Earle; and

Seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Anthony Funeral Home Chapel South. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery in Earle.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JANET LYNN BAILEY WILLIAMS

Ms. Janet Lynn Bailey Williams, 46, of Leachville, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in South Bend, Ind., she had lived most of her life in Panama City, Fla., and Louisiana. She was a retired employee of the state of Louisiana, working at the Hammond Developmental Center for the mentally and physically handicapped. She had been a Leachville resident for the past seven years.

Ms. Williams leaves her parents, Jim and Rita Bailey of Leachville.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James Bailey Jr., and one sister, Jane Bailey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville. The Rev. Don Wilson will officiate, and burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JERRY WAYNE HICKS

Mr. Jerry Wayne Hicks, 30, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Blytheville. Born Feb. 12, 1972, in Rolla, Mo., the son of John C. Hicks and Sharon Arnold Hicks, he was a graduate of Malden High School in Malden, Mo.

He was united in marriage to Jamie Pendergrass May 15, 2002, in Dyersburg, Tenn.

Mr. Hicks was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed at Nucor Steel Arkansas in Hickman and a member of the Ely Baptist Church of Kennett, Mo.

According to family members, he was active in youth baseball and loved umpiring.

He leaves his wife, Jamie Hicks of the home;

His parents, John C. and Sharon G. Hicks of Kennett;

One daughter, Caroline Parker Hicks of Caruthersville;

One stepdaughter, Statyn Elise Coppage of Caruthersville;

One brother, Terry E. Hicks of Kennett;

One nephew, Johnny Jack Hicks of Kennett; and

A number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with Bro. Dale Rickman and Dr. Paul Currie officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Martin, Ryan Braswell, Kevin Faulkner, Shawn Wiley, Tony Jones and Derek Callens.

MATTIE MILLER

Ms. Mattie Miller, 98, of Luxora, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Osceola. She had been a homemaker, a member of Gospel Temple in Luxora and a member of the Mother Board at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Luxora.

Ms. Miller leaves three sons, Linzell Miller and Billy Miller, both of Luxora, and Robert Miller of Erie, Pa.;

Three daughters, Stephanie Williford of Chicago, Charles Etta Freeman of Kansas City, Mo., and Jettie Miller of Luxora; and

Twenty-four grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Luxora, with the Rev. Michael McKinnie officiating. Burial will follow in Luxora Cemetery. Family members will be active pallbearers.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
