David Wayne Smith
GRANITE BAY, Calif. — David Wayne Smith, 50, of Granite Bay, Calif., passed away suddenly on Sept. 23, 2007.
He was born in Newport on Oct. 1, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Bisges Smith; son, Austin, 13; daughter, Amy, 11; parents, Bill and Doralea Smith of Jonesboro; sisters, Vickie Stanley of Jonesboro and Christie Wallace of Plano, Texas; brother, Perry Smith of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was a loving father and supportive husband. His zest for life and his love of people will be missed by many.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, (501) 224-8300.

Wayne Dunham
BOLIVAR, Mo. — Wayne Dunham, 62, of Bolivar passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, in CHMCF after a brief illness.
He was born April 15, 1945, in Bono to Winfred and Nellie Marie Holland Dunham. He was united in marriage to Sylvia “Sweetie Pie” Morris Hood on June 18, 1995.
He was a member of Bolivar First Assembly of God.
His parents; wife, Sylvia “Sweetie Pie”; three brothers, Charles, Donald and Winfred Dunham Jr.; sister, Julia Deems; and infant sister, Evelyn Dunham precede him in death.
He is survived by five sisters, Wilma Hughey of West Memphis, Anna Sparkman of Rock Island, Ill., Vera Mitchell of Paragould, Ruth Ward and husband Glen of Paragould and Leota Friend and husband Jim of Bolivar; two aunts; several nieces and nephews, including a special caregiver, niece Libby Friend; a host of church family; and friends at US Bank.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pitts Chapel with Gary Ankrom officiating. Burial will follow in Schofield Cemetery
at Halfway. The Ankrom family will be singing “Amazing Grace,” “What a Day That Will Be” and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be.”
Visitation will be held tonight from 4-6 in the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pitts Chapel of Bolivar.
Claire Arlene Russell Duty
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Claire Arlene Russell Duty, 61, of North Little Rock died on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 1, 1946, at Jonesboro to Luther Eddie and Mary Helen Abeyta Russell. She was a 1964 graduate of Greene County Tech. In February of that same year, she was named Queen of Hearts by the Paragould Daily Press.
Mrs. Duty was employed by Watts, Donovan & Tilley PA in Little Rock. She loved working with special needs children, watching movies and loved art and horses. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include one son, Andrew R. Duty of Cranberry Township, Pa.; one daughter, Kelly Duty of Charleston, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Rivers Chelsea Duty and Victoria Anne Duty; brother, Patricio Reyes Herrera of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters and their husbands, Mildred Ann Twiner and Daniel of Hazlehurst, Miss., and Daley Amber Ellis and Rayburn of Jonesboro; five nephews; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Eddie and Mary Helen Russell.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Jimmy Lynn Hall
MARION — Jimmy Lynn Hall, 63, of Marion died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Biscoe.
He was a retired shop supervisor for FedEx National in Marion, a member of Trinity M.B. Church in West Memphis and umpire of West Memphis-Marion girls’ softball league. He loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda Cook Hall; daughters, Jan Barns of Jonesboro and Karen Harlow of Olive Branch, Miss.; mother, Florence Roberts of DeValls Bluff; brother, George Roberts Jr. of Dallas; and grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Gary Brown Jr., USMC, and wife Daniell of Mermar, Calif., and Jared Barnes and Garrett Barnes, both of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hall and stepfather, Buddy Roberts.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis with graveside services at 1 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery
at De Valls Bluff.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
Frankie Hathaway
HARRISBURG — Frankie Hathaway, 72, of Harrisburg died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Hathaway was born in Searcy, the daughter of the late Frank and Lola Banks Brooks and had lived in Harrisburg five years. She was formerly of Trumann.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Trumann and attended Hillside United Pentecostal Church of Harrisburg.
Mrs. Hathaway was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Delilah Spillman and Jo Della Harrison, both of Harrisburg; one sister, Mary Jane Soles of Joplin, Mo.; three grandchildren, Shayne Grimes, Amy Williams and Donnie Hathaway; five great-grandchildren, Josie Grimes, Tyler Williams, Emily Grimes, Scott Hathaway and Audrey Hathaway.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Trumann with the Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in McDaniel Cemetery
at Jonesboro with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Shayne Grimes, Donnie Hathaway, Billy Williams, Jonathan Skaggs, Edwin “Bubba” Harrison and Mike Champlain.
Jimmie L. Higgins
HOT SPRINGS — Jimmie L. Higgins, 71, of Hot Springs died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, in a Little Rock hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1936, in Vilonia to Otis and Catherine Hoffman Higgins, he was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, an active member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and choir, participant of the Emmaus Walk and a regular blood donor.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Victor Higgins; granddaughter, Maggie Joelle Higgins; and great-grandson, Danny Allen Bell.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Charlotte Higgins of Wilson, Jackie and Dianna Higgins of Maumelle and Leonard and Rhonda Higgins of North Little Rock.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, James, David, Graeme, Matthew and Kelly Jo Higgins, Katie Fowler, and Leigh Ann Bell; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bell, Abigail Bell, Cecilia Higgins, Andrew Higgins, Gabriella Higgins and William Bell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Geraldine Higgins and Gordon and Brenda Higgins; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Melton Clark; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2963 Airport Road, Hot Springs 71913, with the Rev. David Jones and Pastor Emeritus Larry Ferguson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
Brinda Swan
ARKABUTLA, Miss. — Brinda Joyce Cantrell Swan, 54, died Friday, Oct. 5.
She leaves her husband, Hal Swan of Arkabutla; daughter, Miki Lockman of Arkabutla; and sons, Jeremiah Swan of Coldwater, Miss., and Benjamin Swan of Horn Lake, Miss.; two sisters, Mary Carolyn Cantrell of Payneway and Diane Grant of Liola, Miss.; brothers, James Cantrell of Harrisburg, Bobby Cantrell, Charles Cantrell and Dennis Cantrell, all of Payneway and Doyle Cantrell of Yazoo City, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pate- Jones Funeral Home with burial in Surrette Cemetery, Arkabutla.
Pate- Jones Funeral Home, Senatobia, Miss., is in charge.
Leroy Franklin Williams
ALICIA — Leroy Franklin Williams, 84, of Alicia passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, in Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.
Born April 28, 1923, at Pleasant Plains, Mr. Williams is the son of Grover and Myrtle Webster Williams. He was a factory worker at Victor Metal for 33 years and a member of Alicia Baptist Church.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, where he was a tech 5 signal corporal serving in the Pacific Theatre, receiving the AP Theatre Ribbon and Bronze Star, Good Conduct Metal and WWII Victory ribbon.
Mr. Williams was united in marriage to Virginia Carolyn Watson on Jan. 5, 1946.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Monetta Corbett; his parents; brothers, Gene, Howard, Allen and Charles; and a sister, Ruby Warren.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Williams of the home; three sons, Ronnie and wife Pam of Bono, Stanley and wife Henrietta of Walnut Ridge and Dennis of the home; a daughter, Loretta Corbett and husband Larry of Alicia; four grandsons, David Corbett of Marion, Kris Williams and wife Tonya of Manila, and Joey Williams and Andy Williams, both of Walnut Ridge; two granddaughters, Rohni West and husband Daniel of Jonesboro and Michelle Sheets and husband Bret of Walnut Ridge; four great-grandsons, River Guthrie, Colbey and Kyler Williams and Dylan Sheets; a great-granddaughter, Lydia Sheets; a brother, Richard Williams of Heber Springs; a sister, Beatrice Cocheran of Wilburn; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. with Monroe Baldwin officiating. Interment will be in Strangers Home Cemetery
under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie. 
military honors will be at graveside by American Legion Picket Post No. 21 of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be tonight from 6-8.
William ‘Frank’ Wood
ST. LOUIS — William “Frank” Wood, 71, of St. Louis died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.
Born in Paragould, Frank worked long and hard for his trucking business. Some of his favorite hobbies included growing different things, old cars and farm tractors. His favorite saying was “we should accomplish something every day.”
He was the beloved husband of Betty J. Wood, née Kampe; loving father of Michael (Suzanne) Wood, Glenn (Susan) Beffa, Brad (Elaine) Beffa and Lori (Steve) Unger; grandfather of Elizabeth, Paige, Austin, Brittany, Christina, Tony, Drew, Kurt, Callie and Nick; brother of Marie, Hilrie, Betty, Barbara, Gerald, Faye, John, Carolyn, David, Marjorie and the late Mildred and Helen; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Visitation will be held on Sunday at Roller-Farmers Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held for Frank at 10 a.m. Monday in Pine Log Cemetery.
