Betty Tunstall

NEWPORT — Mrs. Betty Tunstall, 73, of Newport died Monday.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Lee Purcell; second husband, Richard Sturch Jr.; third husband, Fisher Tunstall; parents; and brother, Harry Franklin Ford.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Purcell Slade of Newport and Wendy Purcell Herrscher of Wichita; brother, Doyle James Ford of Hickory Ridge; sisters, Ann Ford Johnson of Tennessee and Joyce Ford Komprood of Russellville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Lewis Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8.

Tracie Lea Waddell

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Tracie Lea Waddell, 46, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Imboden, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008.

She is survived by her husband, L. Van Waddell of Murfreesboro; daughter, Taylor Waddell of Murfreesboro; son, Lance Waddell of Murfreesboro; parents, Richard and Mary Lou Livingston of Waller, Texas; brothers, Rick Livingston of Conroe, Texas, and Chris Livingston of Galveston, Texas; sister, Jayme Case of Brevard, N.C.

Visitation will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Imboden United Methodist Church. Service will follow at the church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Margaret Whitman

TRUMANN — Margaret Whitman, 79, of Trumann died Monday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Whitman had lived most of her life in Trumann. She was a retired nurse and of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Whitman; a son, H.L. Whitman Jr.; and her parents, William Curtis and Annie Skaggs Harrell.

Survivors include two sons, William Whitman of Paragould and Stephen Whitman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Pierce Harrell of Modesto, Calif., and Robert Harrell of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday afternoon at 2 at the Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree with the Rev. Mike Sutton officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.

Pallbearers will be Keith Whitman, Brett Whitman, Mike Sullivan, Gary Burgess, Barney Whitman and Fred Whitman.

Visitation will be Thursday from noon-1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Linda Kay Cupp

PARAGOULD — Linda Kay Cupp, 60, of Paragould, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Baptist-East Hospital at Memphis.

She was a schoolteacher for 26 years and enjoyed every minute of it. She sang and played the piano for 43 years and was a member of Grace United Baptist Church.

Linda was born Jan. 10, 1948, at Kennett, Mo., to the late Adolph and Mae Lillie McClearn Cupp.

She is survived by her daughter, Tamara Baughn; grandson, Jake French; granddaughter, Isabella Baughn, all of Jonesboro; and a dog-friend, Buttercup.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. in Heath Funeral Home today.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Royce Schanda officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Heaths.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Cupp, Craig Cupp, Gary Cupp, Chris McMinn, Doug Kennett and Stephen Holt. Honorary pallbearer is Jake French.

Memorials may be made to the Ridgefield Christian Baseball Field Fund or to the library of giver’s choice.

Deloris Dunn

ASH FLAT — Deloris Dunn, 86, of Ash Flat died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital at Salem.

Mrs. Dunn was born Oct. 30, 1921, at Kansas City, Mo. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Val Dunn of Pleasant Plains; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Shilvock of Saddle; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, one daughter and one granddaughter.

Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. in Flint Cemetery near Wirth with arrangements under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 in the funeral home.

Beulah M. Miller Durham

MOUNTAIN HOME — A celebration of life for Beulah M. Miller Durham of Mountain Home will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Strawberry Church of Christ with Don House and Ken Burton officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7 this evening in Kirby and Family Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday in the church.

Beulah Durham entered into eternal peace Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Care Manor at the age of 95. Beulah was born Thursday, Nov. 7, 1912, at Strawberry, the daughter of George and Lena Sneed Miller. She married Everett Gordon Durham on Aug. 25, 1935, at Strawberry and was a homemaker.

Beulah lived at Mountain Home for 21 years, moving from Strawberry. She was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame at Batesville and also enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Beulah is survived by one son, Max (Regina) Durham of Lynn; two daughters, Betty Koogler of Hinkley, Ill., and Louann (Rich) Biehler of Mountain Home; six grandchildren, Tammy (Gene) Griffey of Lynn, Jerry (Sherry) Koogler of Illinois, Chauna (Chris) Taylor of Mountain Home, Chad (Nicole) Taylor of Marietta, Ga., Chrissy Biehler of Irving, Texas, and Brian Biehler of Fayetteville; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and five sisters.

Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery at Strawberry with Denny, Jimmy Terry, Sloan, Tal, Todd, Eddie and Scott Durham, Mitch and Perry Bell as pallbearers and Joe and Lowell Turner, Carl Miller, Noel, Edward, Carl, Charles, Billy Dean, Mike and Terry Durham, David Gardner and Larry Sisk as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Care Manor Nursing Home.

Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.

Barbara Edwards

CHERRY VALLEY — Barbara Edwards, 60, of Cherry Valley died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at CrossRidge Hospital at Wynne.

She was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Cross County, the daughter of Cecil and Myrtle Scott Hall. She married Jimmy Dale Edwards April 12, 1968.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Edwards; mother, Myrtle Hall of Vanndale; two sons, Barry and Perry Edwards; daughter, Tracy Duncan; three brothers; five sisters; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral chapel. Interment will be in Akin Cemetery at Vanndale.

Martha Freeman

FORT SMITH — Martha Freeman, 84, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at River Valley Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 2, 1923, at Marmaduke, the daughter of the late Truman Harrison Freeman Sr. and Clara Ruth Starnes Freeman. She was a homemaker and member of Harvest Time Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include her sisters, Glenda Harris and Carolyn Bigham, both of Fort Smith; and brother, Grover Freeman of Jonesboro.

A viewing will be held from 2-7 p.m. Sunday in Heath Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating.

Robert Gerald Harris

POCAHONTAS — Robert Gerald “Bob” Harris, 67, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at NEA Baptist Hospital at Jonesboro.

A resident of Paragould before moving to Pocahontas in 1980, Harris was a retired salesman for Hardin’s-Sysco Food Service.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda; daughter, Robyn (Hank) McNabb of Pocahontas; two stepsons, Chris (Melissa) Griffin of Brickeys and Sam (Jackie) Griffin of Maumelle; adopted son, Drew Harris of the home; two grandchildren, Hannah and Henry McNabb of Pocahontas; three stepgrandchildren, Hunter Griffin and Milon Mitchell of Brickeys and Devyenne Diaz of Maumelle; brother, Bill Harris of Jonesboro; and sister, Gladys Mercer of Knightsen, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with the Revs. Fred Hunter, Glenn Pettis and Eddie Harris officiating. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-7 tonight in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 400 Thomasville Ave., Pocahontas 72455.

James Hayes

MAYNARD — James Hayes, 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hayes of the home; three sons, one daughter, three stepdaughters, two granddaughters, one grandson and two stepgrandchildren.

The body will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
