Maggie Coleman
BLYTHEVILLE — Mrs. Maggie “Maenette” Coleman, 79, of Blytheville died Monday.
She leaves her children, James Edward Coleman (Glenda) of Tyronza, Barbara Muller (George) of Rochelle, Ill., Kenneth Coleman (Nina) of Tomball, Texas, Brenda Hardy (Peyton) of Arlington, Tenn., James Ronald Coleman and Shirley Ann Coleman, both of Blytheville; sisters, Stella May of Manila and Patsy Skelton of Sikeston, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Frieda Janette Felts
PARAGOULD — Frieda Janette Felts, 75, of Paragould died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1933, in Manila, she was a retired receptionist for the Family Practice Clinic. Mrs. Felts was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Dana Felts of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Lou Leventhal of Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, and Felton and Tony Magby of Benton. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Linda Shedd of Manila, and Dr. L.L. and Marcia Shedd of Paragould; and by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Scroggins, Cameron Magby, April and Kayci Felts, Joshua, Hannah and Sarah Leventhal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira D. and Lorette Alston Shedd; her husband, James V. Felts; and by one sister, Martha Donner.
Visitation will be at Mitchell Funeral Home today from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at East Side Baptist Church in Paragould with Steven Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Cameron Magby, Joshua Leventhal, Gerry Donner, Allen Donner, Omer Shedd and David Shedd will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials to the Martha Donner Scholarship Foundation or Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home would be appreciated.
Shawn King
NEWPORT — Shawn King, 36, of Newport died Monday.
He is survived by his father, Larry King; mother, Nelda King; and grandmother, Esther Bearden, all of Newport; brother, James Gregory King and his wife, Debra; and nephew, Christopher King, all of Alexander.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Angela LaGrone
JONESBORO — Angela LaGrone, 44, of Jonesboro died Feb. 28 at home.
Angela was a lifetime resident. She was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include her husband, Robert LaGrone of Little Rock; sons, Gentry Stevenson of Jonesboro and Robert LaGrone Jr. of Little Rock; daughters, Stephanie and Tamala LaGrone, both of Little Rock; sisters, Eula Anderson, Alice Hill and Pamela Lewis, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Jerry, Leroy, Clarence, Aron and Sylvester Stevenson and Otis Hill, all of Jonesboro and Robert Stevenson of Orlando, Fla.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday in Grace Chapel of Woodard Funeral Services in Jonesboro with Rev. Ray Scales officiating.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Final disposition will be by cremation.
Emma Lee Lawson
JONESBORO — Emma Lee Lawson, 88, of Jonesboro, died Monday evening, March 3, 2008, at her home.
She was born in Blackville and lived in Jonesboro for 35 years, moving here from Bay. She was a homemaker and member of Alsup Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Alvord Lawson; her parents, James Columbus Minick and Clara Lawrence Minick; one sister, Georgia Veteto; and two brothers, Orphas and Lavon Minick.
Survivors include her son, Earl J. Lawson and his wife, Lora of Jonesboro; one daughter; Roma Adams and her husband, Terry of Jonesboro; two brothers, the Rev. Leon Minick of Egypt and Oneal Minick of Bay; one sister, Kathryn Minick of Bay; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Kenneth Fields and LuAnn Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Log Cemetery
with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.
Visitation will be from 5-7 this evening at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Steven Lawson, Michael Hattenhauer, Mark Lawson, Anthony Watson, John Meads and Terry Adams Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Gandy, Herbert Smith, Eddie Meads and James Garrett.
Sarah Faye Lewis
NEWPORT — Mrs. Sarah Faye (Jackson) Lewis, 85, of Newport died Tuesday.
She was born June 14, 1922, at Balch, the daughter of W.A. “Andy” and Minnie (Camp) Jackson.
Mrs. Lewis was deputy tax collector of Jackson County under her father and then Jackson County tax collector, for a total of 47 years of service at her retirement in 1983. She loved her job and the people of Jackson County. It has been said that if her health had permitted she would still be serving the people of Jackson County to this day.
Mrs. Lewis was a 1939 graduate of Newport High School and a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and canasta and was an excellent bowler in her younger years.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lewis; an infant son; her parents; and one brother, Vaughn Jackson.
She is survived by one son, William A. “Bill” Lewis and wife Donna of Newport; her twin sister, Raye Rogers, and husband Doyle of Batesville; two grandchildren, William A. “Bill” Lewis Jr. of Newport and Rhonda Bell of Newport; five great-grandchildren, Natalie Hutchinson, Bubba Hutchinson, John Lewis Hutchinson, Bill Lewis III and Jennifer Lewis; one niece, Barbara Hoover; and one nephew, Doyle Rogers Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 p.m .
Arrangements are by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
Virginia Pauline Simmons
ROCKFORD, Ill. — Virginia Pauline Simmons, 88, of Rockford, Ill, died Sunday.
She was born at Swifton, the daughter of Tom and Jennie Hawkins.
She was preceded by her husband, Herschel Simmons; one brother, Boyce Hawkins; and sisters, Ruby Pittman and Helen Hawkins.
Survivors include her son, Douglas Simmons and wife Shirley; daughters, Phyllis Hire and husband Don and Patricia Eickman and husband Alan; her grandchildren, Debbie, Theresa, Geofrey, Carl, Paula, William and Melissa; and several loving great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Swifton Church of Christ. Interment will be in Swifton Cemetery.

Violet Garnette Smith
MARMADUKE — Violet Garnette Smith, 85, of Marmaduke was born Feb. 20, 1923, and passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center of Paragould.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel at Rector with Marston Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery
with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
Elexia ‘Lexi’ Taylor
WYNNE — Elexia Rose “Lexi” Taylor, 16 months, of Wynne died Friday, Feb. 29, at CrossRidge Community Hospital at Wynne.
She was born Oct. 2, 2006, at Forrest City, the daughter of Kurtis Carter and Camillia Taylor.
Survivors include her parents, brother, Christopher Carter; grandparents, George and Emily Taylor, Clyde and Bonnie Carter, all of Wynne; godmother, LaDonna Smith; six great-grandparents and two great-great-grandparents.
Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. in Halk Cemetery
at Wynne. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time at Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home, 238-9400.
Dorothy Mae Walker
PARAGOULD — Dorothy Mae Stanfill Smith Walker, 85, of Paragould died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
She retired from Southland Bottling Co. and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Smith and Jim Smith, both of Paragould, and a daughter, Shirley Molock of Tennessee.
Visitation will be this evening from 6-9 at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
