Euna Smith

OFALLON, Mo. — Euna Belle Rawls Smith, 96, of Ofallon, Mo., formerly of Paragould, died Sunday, July 6, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Beech Grove to the late Will and Lucy Russom Rawls.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Oatis Smith; daughter, Genelda Mae Smith; son, James Weldon Smith; and siblings, Clora Manzo, Harvey Rawls, Ernie Rawls, D.W. Rawls and Bessie Wren.

She was a homemaker and a member of Newton Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eldon Edward and Betty Jean Smith of Paragould; daughter-in-law, Julie Bemus Smith of St. Louis; sister, Vernie Dowdy; brother, Joe Rawls, both of Paragould; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Akimi Thompson of Ramsey, N.J., William “Bill” Smith, Richard “Scott” Smith, both of O’Fallon; James “Jim” and Michelle Smith of Maricopa, Ariz., Matthew and Melissa Smith of San Jose, Calif., Sharon Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Kathleen “Kathy” Collins of St. Peters, Mo., Cynthia “Cyndy” and Bill Bradford of St. Charles, Mo., Jamie and Steve VanValin of O’Fallon, and Deanna Smith of Springfield, Mo.; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home.

Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery at Beech Grove. Nephews will be pallbearers and nieces will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Children’s Home of Paragould, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould 72450.

Catherine Stewart

March 23, 1945-July 3, 2008

OSCEOLA — Catherine Shirley Mae Stewart, 63, of Osceola died Thursday.

She was a retired cook and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her children, Kelia Caruthers and Eric Jones, both of Osceola, Val Jones and Bal Shelia Marion, both of Tulsa, Okla., Aparica Robinson, Arch, Antonio and Andre Jones, all of Memphis, Chris Jones of Lithia Springs, Ga.; siblings, Chris Jones, Celia Mae Scurry, Shirlena Lewis, Samuel and Kenneth Jones; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Bethel Church of Lord Jesus Christ with burial in Whiteside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home.

Dayton Lynville Thomas

JACKSONVILLE — Dayton Lynville Thomas, age 84, of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his home.

He was born on July 14, 1923, in Hickory Plains to the late Lealon and Ella Mae Colclasure Thomas. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Dewey and Emmitt Thomas and sister Lee Ella Wall.

Mr. Thomas was a member of McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, 10 years with Missouri Pacific Railroad and also as a boiler inspector with the state of Arkansas. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Jacinto Masonic Lodge 216 and the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Margurite Thomas; two children, Donald (Becky) Thomas of Jacksonville and Peggy (Jim) Burton of Jacksonville; sisters, Ada Mae (Pete) Vann of Sherwood, Modean Gertsch of North Little Rock, Judith (Charlie) Pugh of Hernando, Miss., Linda (David) Johnston of North Little Rock and Evelyn Wofford of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Thomas, Dusty (Marti) Thomas, John (Heather) Burton, Brian Burton and Jenny (J.B.) Halliburton; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dillon Thomas, Halleigh, Jayce and Hattie Burton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel followed by entombment in Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.

Arrangements are by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.

James Willie Williams

OSCEOLA — James Willie “Jake” Williams, 80, of Osceola died July 1, 2008, at SMC Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 10, 1927, at Shaw, Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Williams of Osceola; children, Mattie Smith of Chicago, Eddie Thomas of Key Largo, Fla., Louis Baker, Cathy Baker and Mae James, all of Osceola; godson, Andrea Lockhart; 34 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Whiteside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home.

Luvena Baldridge

RAVENDEN SPRINGS — Luvena Baldridge, 90, died Tuesday, July 8, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Yadkin to the late Samuel Franklin Dalton and Gertie Claninda Ehrhardt Dalton and was a member of Ravenden Springs Church of Christ since 1949.

She was married to Dan Baldridge Dec. 26, 1937. He died May 27, 1947.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelba Jean Inness and husband James L. Inness, and Shirley Fortner and husband Charley Fortner, all of Ravenden Springs; a son, Cameron Ray Baldridge and wife Helen of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, James Mark Inness, Cynthia Ann Markum, Allen Inness, Charlotte Prunty, Greg Fortner and Brendan Baldridge; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with James L. Inness, Mark Inness and Neil Inness officiating. Burial will follow in Bellah Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 tonight in the funeral home.

Harriet Elouise Cox

MCCRORY — Harriet Elouise Cox, 91, of McCrory died Tuesday, July 8, at McCrory.

Survivors are son, William Cox of Indianapolis; daughter, Sherry Melton of Greenfield, Ind.; brothers, J.C. Dickerson and Marion H. Dickerson; sisters, Winnie Lee McNeely, Edrie Woodall and Iva Reed; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fair Oaks Baptist Church with burial in Crosslawn Cemetery at Wynne.

Visitation is Friday night from 6-8 in Kernodle Funeral Home at Wynne.

Memorials may be made to Fair Oaks Baptist Church, 483 Highway 49, McCrory 72101.

Tressie Durham

NEWPORT — Tressie Durham, 75, of Newport died Wednesday, July 9.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Emma Lou Helms Oliver; daughter, Janet Holt Sylar; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Durham of Newport; son, Scottie R. Holt of Newark; stepsons, Frankie Durham of Fort Smith and Bill Durham of Jacksonport; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dillinger Chapel with burial in Coffeyville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening in Dillinger Funeral Home.

Perry Randell Goodman

MINTURN — Perry Goodman, 49, died at his residence.

He had lived at Minturn for the last 10-12 years, moving there from Newark.

Survivors include his mother, Mardell Goodman; brother, Jim Goodman; nephew, Josh Goodman; and niece, Angela Goodman.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Danny Whitmire and Ray Brandon officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be one hour before services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Regions Bank of Walnut Ridge.

Dorothy Harris

JONESBORO — Dorothy Harris, 94, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, July 9, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Little Rock to Oliver Newton and Lena Lee. She was a retired secretary from Payne Plumbing Supply in Tupelo, Miss., and a member of First Christian Church.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Harris; her parents; three brothers, Oliver Newton Jr., William H. Lee and Charles A. Lee; and two sisters, Virginia Lee Adams and Martha Lee Morgan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will include John G. Meeker, David Morgan, Stephen Meeker, Matt Tinsley, Bob Rhein and Bill Adams.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Lasting memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.

Lisa Ann Junkersfeld

POCAHONTAS — Lisa Ann Junkersfeld, 34, died Monday, July 7.

She was born May 18, 1974, at Pocahontas.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Pocahontas; two daughters, Felicsha Junkersfeld and Alissia Moore; a stepson, David Junkersfeld; father, Gary Moore, all of Pocahontas; mother, Edwina Knickerbocker Eldridge of Datto; two brothers, Chase Cook of Pocahontas and Lron Flanigan of Little Rock; and a sister, Nikki Hart of Pocahontas.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with burial following in Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 this evening in the funeral home.
