George Ray Thomas

HARRISBURG — George Ray Thomas of Harrisburg departed this life Monday, July 21, 2008, in Little Rock at the age of 22.

He was born June 7, 1986, at Jonesboro, the son of Roy Glenn Thomas and Laura Ivy Thomas.

He was disabled and a lifetime resident of Harrisburg. He attended Harrisburg High School and received his GED. He loved fishing, cooking and video games.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Taura Lynn Thomas, and grandparents, Billy Ivy and Wanda Griffin.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Thomas of Harrisburg; his father and stepmother, Roy Glenn and Jamie Thomas of Jonesboro; his mother and stepfather, Laura and Scott Everett of Harrisburg, one brother, Billy Thomas of Jonesboro; one half-brother, Jamie Thomas of Jonesboro; four stepbrothers, Josh Everett of Walcott, Kevin Everett of Opp, Ala., Garrett Edwards and Brook Edwards, both of Jonesboro; one half-sister, Tina Campbell of Harrisburg; one stepsister, Dallis Gott of Salem; and grandparents, Jamie Thomas and Frank and Brenda McMeans.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg with the Rev. Tommy Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill Thomas, Marty Ramsey, Daniel Romas, Allen Ivy, Frankie Ivy and Jimmy Hilderbrand will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit at the funeral home this evening from 5-8.

Ruby Breedlove

NEWPORT — Mrs. Ruby Rushing Breedlove, 71, of Newport died Tuesday.

Mrs. Breedlove is survived by two sons, William Breedlove of Cane, Pa., and Albert Breedlove of Newport; three daughters, Brenda Hall and husband, Phil, Virginia Spence and husband, Mike, all of Newport, and Vickie Murray and husband, Orville, of Frankton, Ill.; two brothers, Walter and James Rushing; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Watson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9.

Tommy Coe Brockwell

OKLAHOMA CITY — Tommy Coe Brockwell, 69, of Oklahoma City died Saturday.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Steven Brockwell and wife, Becky, of Searcy and Gregory Brockwell and wife, Chantel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Sandra Jones and husband, Mike, of Tuckerman, Tammie Sue Toddy and husband, Carrol, of Possum Grape, and Bridget Solis and husband, Tim, of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday morning at 10 in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home with interment at Sandhill Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8.

Alan Wayne Cody

PARAGOULD — Alan Wayne “Buddy” Cody, 49, of Paragould, died Tuesday in Belle Meade Nursing Center.

He was born July 29, 1958, at South Haven, Mich.

Survivors include one brother, Tony Hall of the home; and several aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Cody; mother, Sceles Bette Hall; and brother, Rodney Cody.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to assist with funeral expenses may be made to Mitchell Funeral Home.

Dallas Collins

TRUMANN — Dallas Collins of Trumann departed this life Monday, July 21, 2008, in Memphis at the age of 69.

He was born Oct. 29, 1938, at Black Rock, the son of Elmer Collins and Florence Nice Collins. He was a lifetime resident of Poinsett County and retired from Hytrol in 2001 after 25 years service. He was a member of New Vision Worship Center at Harrisburg and loved to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Florence Collins and one brother, Jerry Collins.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Naomi Brown Collins of the home; one daughter, Michelle Welch of Blytheville; two brothers, Roy Lee Collins and Carlton Collins, both of Trumann; five sisters, Ruth Cross of Brinkley, Helen Lee of Wheatley, and Loretta Mooningham, Wilma Fleming and Janet Spray, all of Trumann; four grandchildren, Anthony Runyan and Amber Runyan, both of Blytheville, and Brionna Crume and Cory Crume, both of Trumann; one niece; 10 nephews; five great-nieces; and five great-nephews.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday in Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg with the Rev. Greg Hoskins officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery.

Lloyd Brown, Larry Brown, Archie Brown, Paul Brown, Gerald Brown and Coy Lancaster will serve as active pallbearers.

Ollie Reeves, Larry Austin Billy Gann, Robert Smith, Scottie Spence and Rick McKenzie will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may visit at the funeral home this evening from 5-8.

Jeffrey Don Cope

BLYTHEVILLE — Jeffrey Don Cope, 45, died July 21, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center following a short fight with cancer.

He graduated in 1988 from Arkansas State University and served in the Air Force during Desert Storm. He worked for Trinity Industries. He loved fishing, camping and playing ball with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Carmichael Cope; his parents, J.D. and Duella Cope of Jonesboro; two sisters, Pam Dumas of Jonesboro and Patt Cope of Judsonia; five stepchildren and their families, including 10 stepgrandchildren, Lauri and Mike Keene, Alecia and Jeff Goff, Scott and Cindy Carmichael, Rebecca and Keith Harris, and Adam and Krissi Carmichael; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jordan and Jayden Goff, Taylor and Coty Keene, Taylor and Jordan Carmichael, Landon and Jasper Harris and A.J., Justice, Jayce and Anna Carmichael; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Gladys Coggin, and W.D. and Mary Cope; and a nephew, Ronald Carmichael Jr.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Nettleton Cemetery with Jimmy Young officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Edmund Grubbe Jr.

JONESBORO — Edmund Grubbe Jr., 78, of Jonesboro died Sunday at his home.

He was of the Methodist faith. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force. As a child in Flatonia, Texas, he had a pie route that he was proud of.

Mr. Grubbe is survived by his wife, Zepha Grubbe; three sons, Steven Jones of Little Rock, Andy Jones of Paragould and Timothy Jones of Jonesboro; five daughters, Mary Blair of Smithville, Texas, Cathy Smith of Athens, Tenn., Audrey Ann Mooney of Houston, Texas, Lana Turner and Ginger Jones, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Dorothy Goldsmith of Flatonia and Virginia Christie of Alma; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Grubbe Sr. and Matilda Bruner Grubbe; one sister, one brother, and one grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Union Grove Cemetery with James Strait officiating.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon at Emerson Funeral Home.

Louise Harmon

KENNETT, Mo. — O. Louise Harmon, 71, of Kennett, Mo., formerly of Piggott, died July 18, 2008.

Her husband, Aldon “Sonny” Harmon Sr., and parents, Riley and Lottie Book preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Lynette Simpson, Sheila Sugden, Penny Keating, Aldon Harmon Jr. and Hope Durk; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Doilis, Ray and J.B. Book; and sister, Lottie Faye Pridmore.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with burial in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.

Visitation will be at 6 this evening.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Isaacs

LAS VEGAS — Donald Isaacs, 75, of Las Vegas died July 7, 2008.

Born in Bay, he was the son of Bill and Ada Isaacs and a graduate of Bay High School.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a building materials salesman in Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife, Julia; son, Bill; daughters, Margaret Jane and Vicki; and sisters, Nelma Barnhill and Irene Bush, both of Jonesboro.

Services were held in Las Vegas on July 15 at Davis Funeral Home.

William Alvy Jackson

BEDFORD, Texas — William Alvy “Bill” Jackson passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Grapevine, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel at Colleyville, Texas, with interment at 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A.

Visitation will be this evening from 7-9 at the funeral home.

Bill was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Durant, Okla., to Joe J. and Jewel Gresham Jackson. He was the middle child of 11 children, and all siblings preceded him in death. He spent over 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, retired after 20 years with the Jonesboro Police Department as assistant chief and enjoyed 20 years as a cattleman and rancher.

Bill will be loved and missed by all.

Survivors include his daughter, Gayle and husband, Jerry Lee, of Bedford; granddaughter, Julie Christine Fletcher of The Colony, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Lucian and Lyra Fletcher, and Daniel Hamer.
