Byron Bill Kilbreath

McDOUGAL — Byron Bill Kilbreath, 79, of McDougal, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008.

He was the son of Bill and Adar Nettles Kilbreath.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kilbreath; son, Danny Kilbreath and wife, Theresa; granddaughter, Kennie Rae Williams; grandson, Marcus Kilbreath and wife, Darla; two great-granddaughters, Madison Williams and Allison Kilbreath; one great-grandson, Wesley Kilbreath; brother, Warner Kilbreath; and sister, Sylvia Shepard.

Services will be today at 10:30 a.m. in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Donald Grissom officiating and burial in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Thaddeus Murphy

JONESBORO — Michael T. Murphy, 55, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his residence in Jonesboro.

He was born in Linwood Calif., to the late Jerry and Joyce Murphy and was of the Catholic belief.

He is survived by one brother, Tim Murphy of Jonesboro; two sisters, Patricia Murphy McGillivray of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Christina Murphy Vagner of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date in California.

Kenneth ‘Gene’ Reed

BAY — Kenneth E. “Gene” Reed, 68, of Bay died Sunday at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born at Nettleton, Gene lived most of his life in Bay. He formerly farmed in the Bay area and was retired from Lincoln Manufacturing in Jonesboro. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a Baptist.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Cassie Reed, and by four brothers, Charles, Ray, James and J.B. Reed.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shelby Reed of the home; one daughter, Janice Hewitt of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Joyce Reed of Bay; one brother, Tommy Reed of Missouri; one grandson, Johnathan Hewitt; one granddaughter and her husband, Shanta and Matt Hartley; and three great-grandchildren, Mallory Paige Hartley, Paiton Hartley and Kaden Hartley.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Harles Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Elbert Bradford, Leland Wileman, William Allen, Derek Allen, Johnny Pagan and Rick Atkins.

Honorary pallbearers will include, Tommy Sanders and David Reed.

Visitation will be held this evening from 5-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Denitra Letrice Rudolph

JONESBORO — Denitra “Ne Ne” Rudolph, 35, of Jonesboro died Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Denitra, fondly known as Ne Ne, was employed by Wal-Mart for 12 years as an optician. She was a member of Ephesus Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn Gladney Rudolph.

Survivors cherishing her memory are her father, Milas Rudolph of Harrisburg; stepmother, Donna Rudolph of Jonesboro; sister, Tangela Rudolph of Jonesboro; stepsister, Donya Young of Tuckerman; nephew, Cameron Hester; niece, Olivia Hester; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ephesus Church of God, 5269 Arkansas 1 South, with Pastor Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Harrisburg Cemetery under the direction of Woodard’s Jonesboro Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Mirko William Sanders

JONESBORO — Mirko William Sanders, 41, of Jonesboro died Saturday near Straw-berry.

He was born in Asweiler, West Germany, and was an auto technician at Randy’s Automotive. Mirko had lived in Jonesboro for more than a year, moving here from Texas. He loved hunting, fishing and shooting. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Mirko is survived by his parents, William Sanders of Jonesboro and Gisela Sanders of Germany; daughters, Jessica Foster and Amanda Foster, both of Panama City, Fla.; and sister, Cynthia S. Viel of Jonesboro.

All services will be private.

Russell F. Schalk Sr.

FAIRFIELD BAY — Russell Frederick Schalk Sr., 89, of Fairfield Bay passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at his home.

Born in Scranton, Pa., Nov. 4, 1918, he was the son of the late Frederick R. and Dorothy Ransom Schalk.

Mr. Schalk retired as a manager for Allied Chemical Corp. He moved to Fairfield Bay in 1982 and served as maintenance engineer for the Fairfield Bay Conference Center.

Mr. Schalk was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. For 13 years he served as Cub Master of Cub Scouts Den 7 in Plattsmouth, Neb. Mr. Schalk’s religious belief was of the Lutheran faith.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Schalk of Fairfield Bay; three children, Russell Schalk Jr. and wife Jean of Stillwater, Minn., Sharon Shafer of Fairfield Bay and Gregory Schalk and wife Deborah of Beebe; eight grandchildren, Skip Schalk and wife Christal of Paragould, Jesse Hiller of Denver, Jennifer Kifferly and husband Bill of Hinesville, Ga., Ryan Schalk of Denver, Kelly Schalk of Beebe, Aaron Schalk and wife Mandy of St. Paul, Minn., Kieth Schalk and wife Kim of Beebe, and Chris Schalk of Cabot; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Kifferly, Brock Kifferly, Elizabeth Schalk, Aubrey Schalk, Peyton Schalk, Gavin Schalk and Isaac Schalk.

Mr. Schalk is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held from noon-2 p.m. today at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Michael “Skip” Schalk.

Memorials may be made to the Van Buren County Hospice.

Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home Inc., www.olmstead.cc.

Connie Lee Smith

WALNUT RIDGE — Connie Lee Allison Brown Smith, 82, died Monday, Aug. 4, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

Born Jan. 27, 1926, at Egypt, she was a lifelong member of Skaggs Church of Christ.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Neal Brown and wife, Rosanna, and Donna Alphin and husband, Randy, all of Pocahontas; granddaughters, Dianna and Billy Johnson of Pocahontas, and Amanda and Blain Gibbs of Bono; grandsons, David and Dustin Alphin; great-granddaughters, Lyndesy and Lauryn Johnson; and brother, G.W. Allison and wife Fran of Jonesboro.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in McNabb Funeral Home at Pocahontas with Gerald and Jon Fears officiating and burial in Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8.

William Elvis Swan

BEE BRANCH — William Elvis Swan, 49, of Bee Branch died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

William was born Feb. 5, 1959, at Russellville and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Swan of Marked Tree; his parents, Earl Bee and Bonnie Jean Wright Swan of Bee Branch; brothers, Hal Swan of Cold Water, Miss., Freddy Swan and wife, Linda of Lonoke, Richard Swan and wife, Rhonda of Conway; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be this evening at the funeral home from 5-7.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton with Carl Thomasson officiating. Burial will follow in Morganton Cemetery with Craig Harris, Derrick Fletcher, Ronnie Carmen, Ronnie Swan, Jeremiah and Audie Swan serving as active pallbearers.

David Wood, Chester Cupp, Curtis Swan, Wyatt and Rex Fletcher will be honorary pallbearers.

Leoma Crawford

DELAPLAINE — Leoma “Tootsie” Crawford, 87, of Delaplaine died Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.

She was a homemaker and attended Delaplaine Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolette Ann Ferrell of O’Fallon, Mo.; granddaughter, Heather Licavoli; and great-grandchildren, Gianna and Joey Licavoli of Fenton, Mo.; sister, Billie Lou Deering; nieces, Marsha Clayton and Carol Jackson; and nephew, Roger Clayton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Delaplaine Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Ethridge officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Heath Funeral Home.

Betty Dockins

CORNING — Betty Dockins, 64, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas.

Mrs. Dockins was retired from Five Rivers Medical Center where she was a registered nurse. She was a member of Datto Baptist Church.

On July 5, 1962, she was united in marriage to Jesse L. Dockins Sr. He survives.

Other survivors include her son, Jesse Lendle Dockins Jr. of Datto; daughter, Sheri Robinson of Pocahontas; grandson, Marcus Eagan of Pocahontas; step-grandchildren, Harold Robinson Jr. of Pocahontas and LaTosha Robinson of Conway; brother, Clint Moor and stepmother, Blanche Moor, both of St. Charles, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Mary Moor.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. with Mike Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery at Reyno.
