Donald Butler
Donald Glenn Butler, 51, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, June 9, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, as the result of injuries received in an automobile/pedestrian accident, Saturday night.
He was born November 19, 1950, at Walnut Ridge, a son of the late Leland Glenn Butler and Dona Mae Henson Butler.
He grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and graduated from high school in Paragould. He graduated from Southern Baptist College (now Williams Baptist College) in Walnut Ridge with an Associate's Degree. He also attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and was a graduate of Columbia School of Broadcasting.
He was in full-time church work for 25 years, and served churches in Hot Springs, Prescott, East Camden, Stuttgart, and Waldron. He had formerly served as music minister for Green Meadows Baptist Church, Shannon Road Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, and Centennial Baptist Church, all in Pine Bluff. At the time of his death he was minister of music at Greenlee Baptist Church. He had been employed as a sales clerk for Sears at the Pines Mall for the past six years.
He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1984.
Survivors include: his wife, Dianne Takersley Butler, to whom he was married on February 18, 1978 at Pine Bluff; two daughters, Cynthia Butler and Anita Butler, both of Pine Bluff; two brothers, James David "Lou" Butler of Little Rock and Lee Butler of Mammoth Spring; and one sister, Beth Allender of Perth, Australia.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Greenlee Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Hughes and Rev. Bobby Hartsfield officiating.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery
by Charles E. Fuller Funeral and Memorial Services.
Willie Flemons
Deacon Willie Flemons was born on April 12, 1919, to the parents of Steve and Florence Flemons in Laneburg. He was the seventh of fifteen children. His father, mother, and siblings preceded him in death.
Deacon Flemons died on June 11, to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church since his youth and served on the deacon board for 50-plus years. He was a good Christian man which was attributive to his being a good neighbor and friend.
He married Orene Williams on September 7, 1940. To this blessed union was born eight children: two daughters and six sons, one son, Robert D. preceded him in death. He worked diligently at being a loving husband and father and to provide for his family, both physically and spiritually.
Willie Flemons leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Orene; daughters, Bobbie (Uvern) Clay of St. Louis, Mo., and Fannie McCullough of Chicago, Ill.; sons Lee Willis Flemons of Denver, Colo., Sylvester Flemons of Tulsa, Okla., Rickey Flemons of Oakland, Calif., Calvin and Timothy Flemons of Prescott; three sisters-in-laws, Lillie M. Mitchell, Vira L. Flemons, and Mattie L. Charles; 35 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mabel Ritchie
Mabel Hart Ritchie, 97, of Prescott, died on Sunday, June 16, in North Little Rock.
Mrs. Ritchie was born in Hartsville, Clark County, on April 14, 1905, to John Robert and Carrie Peeples Hart.
She was a homemaker and worked beside her husband, Bryan, who was the Nevada County School Supervisor until his death in 1957. Mrs. Ritchie was then appointed the Nevada County School Supervisor until the 1970's and served in that position until her retirement.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Sharman Fore Langley of Bryant; Susan Fore Nix of Hope; and Jim Fore of North Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan and daughter Jenelle Ritchie Fore.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Shackelford Funeral Home with Earl Cumbie officiating.
Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery
of Blevins under the direction of the Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Diane Crawford
Mrs. Diane M. Crawford, 43, of Hope, died Sunday, June 16, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born on November 21, 1958, in New Orleans, La., to John G. and Wanda Seaton Madden.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and by her father, John G. Madden.
Her survivors include: her husband, Mike Crawford of Hope; one son, Allen Wayne Crawford of Hope; her mother, Wanda Seaton Madden of Hope; two uncles, Larry Seaton of Hope and William Martin Seaton, of Charleston; and three aunts, Alice Rogers of Hope, Helen Cunningham of Marrero, La., Anna Cotter of Enid, Okla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, with Rev. Bobby Joe Wright officiating.
Burial was in Shover Springs Cemetery
in Shover Springs, arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends, Monday, June 17, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Syble E. Robbins
Syble E. Robbins, 78, died Wed., Oct. 27, 1999, at Heather Manor South Nursing Home in Hope.
Mrs. Robbins was born February 20, 1921, in Piggott to Ralph Lonzo and Leona Wright Stahl. She was a homemaker and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church near Gurdon. Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by one son, Buddy Robbins, who died in January, and by one grandson, Randy Robbins.
Survivors include her husband, Prentice Robbins of Gurdon; two daughters and sons-in- law, Jan and Calvin Danner of Gulman, Ala., Malinda and Thomas Osborn of Hope; two sons, Bob and his wife Betty Robbins of Gurdon and Bill Robbins of Hope; one sister, Ella Chapman of Water Valley, Miss; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were held Friday, October 29, at Easley Cemetery
near Gurdon with Rev. Neal Ridling officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel- Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
Wilma Wise
Wilma Wise, 78, of Richardson, Texas, died Mon., Oct. 25, 1999.
She was a homemaker and attended Beech Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Gene Wise of Carrollton, Texas; three daughters, Sandi Wints of Richardson, Texas, Debbie Miller of El Dorado and Cathy Holmes of Dixon Springs, Tenn.; two sisters, Jo Wells of Gurdon and Pat Hill of Horne Lake, Miss.; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
Services were held Thurs., Oct. 28, at Horne Chapel with burial at Rose Hedge Cemetery
by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Brenda Diane Blanton
Brenda Diane Mathis Blanton, 57, a non-smoker of Sherman, Texas, died Wed., Oct. 27, 1999, after a five-year courageous battle with lung cancer.
Mrs. Blanton was born February 6, 1942, in Arkadelphia, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Earl C. Mathis. Diane was a teacher, receiving her bachelors degree from Henderson State Teacher's College in Arkadelphia and a masters degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. She taught fourth grade at Crutchfield Elementary School in Sherman for 14 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Sherman Education Association, Texas State Teachers' Association and the National Education Association.
Mrs. Blanton is survived by her husband of 36 years, James F. 'Jimmy' Blanton of Sherman; her mother, Mrs. Earl C. Mathis of Arkadelphia; one daughter, Cynthia D. Jones of Houston, Texas; two sons and their wives, Scott and Amy Blanton and Chris and Holly Blanton, all of Sherman; and was 'Mimi' to two much-loved grand-daughters, Ashley and Abby Blanton, and a grandson, Tanner Scott Blanton. She is also survived by two brothers, Winston Mathis and Randall Mathis of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Gayle Owen of Greensboro, N.C., and June Wrinkle of Arkadelphia; her father-in-law, Jim Blanton of Okolona; and numerous nieces and nephews and great and great, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl C. Mathis, a Methodist minister; a brother, Travis Mathis; and two sisters, Dorothy Christopher and Joyce Mathis.
Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 30, at First United Methodist Church in Sherman with Dr. Jim Pledger, senior pastor of the church, presiding. Graveside services were held Mon., Nov. 1, at Center Ridge Cemetery
near Gurdon with Dr. Jim Pledger and Rev. John Walls presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, assisted locally by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Jackson
Albert Jackson, 74, of Weiner, died Monday at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was retired from ADM Milling Co. and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Baptist Church in Grubbs.
Survivors include his wife, Cobia Loftin Jackson of Weiner; two daughters, Brenda Hurst of Jonesboro and Anna McClellan of Newport; one sister, Thelma Ruthen of Marked Tree; one granddaughter and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the First Baptist Church of Grubbs, with Rev. Larry Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Ballew's Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Loftin, Michael Loftin, Melvin Loftin, Keith Loftin, Michael Bryant and Garvin Dale Stokes.
The members of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class of the Grubbs Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Grubbs First Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.
Boatner
John Hall Boatner, 86, of Powhatan, died Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Boatner of the home; two sons, James Boatner of Molalla, Ore., and Johnny Boatner of Imboden; three daughters, Bessie Howell of Collinsville, Ill., Elouise Morrow of Newport and Birdie Vallowe of Smithton, Ill.; one brother, Carl Boatner of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas, with Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
Fry
Ferrel Audine Fry, 78, of Pocahontas, died Saturday at his home. He was a farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Oxborrow of Pocahontas, Darlean Church of Coalinga, Calif., and Arlene Bradford of Modesto, Calif.; one sister, Betty Moles of Washington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be this morning at 10 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas, with Paul Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery
in Coalinga

Shuburte
Funeral services for John Hugh Shuburte, 81, of 308 Locust Street, Trumann, will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with Rev. James Veal officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Armstrong, Gordon Shuburte, David Shuburte Jr., Randy Shuburte, Johnny Shuburte, Eric Sutton and Richard Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers will include Derrick Sutton, Daniel Shuburte and Ashley Vinson.
Shuburte died Sunday afternoon at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born in Tennessee but lived most of his life in Trumann. He was retired from the Singer Co. and of the Pentecostal belief.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
