Helen Faye Gestaut

LITTLE ROCK — Helen Faye Faulkner Gestaut, 64, of Little Rock, formerly of Caraway, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Chicago after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joey Gestaut.

Survivors include her children, Sally Gestaut and Joe Keith Gestaut, both of Chicago; her parents, Ray and Helen Faulkner; a brother and his wife, Rayburn and Judy Faulkner, all of Caraway; a sister and her husband, Myra and Johnny Vail of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Chicago.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude, Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Willie Elden Gilbert

HORSESHOE BEND — Willie Elden Gilbert, 73, of Horseshoe Bend, son of the late Willie Green and Dora Virgeline Whitehead Gilbert, was born Dec. 10, 1934, at Jonesboro and died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Salem.

Willie was united in marriage to June Lansford on June 14, 1953, at Jonesboro. He worked as a golf course supervisor and was a member of the Living Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, June Gilbert of Horseshoe Bend; daughter, Judy Thomas of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Heather Millsap of Jonesboro, Johnny Elden Schales of Little Rock, Loni June Norwood of Anmas, N.M., and Codi Elizabeth Schales of Brookland; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Wayne and Melton Lee Gilbert; sister, Barbara Ann Floyd; and one grandson, Kegen Chase Schales.

No services are planned.

Arrangements are by Barker Funeral Home in Salem.

Shirley Ann Johnson McClure

BATESVILLE — Shirley Ann Johnson McClure, 55, of Batesville died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, in a Batesville hospital.

She was born June 4, 1953, in Lafferty. She was the daughter of John and Hazel Jones Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Survivors include a husband, Johnny McClure of Batesville; one son, Johnny Ray McClure Jr. of San Diego; one daughter, Candi Griffith of Batesville; brothers, Dallas Johnson of Franklin, Johnny Johnson of Trumann, Earnest Johnson of Newark, Donnie Jett of Washington, Mo., and Jerry Murphy of Ephrata, Wash.; sisters, Betty Winkle of Batesville and Loretta Johnson of Cave City; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Willis Funeral Service Chapel at Batesville with Boyce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Reeves Cemetery near Guion.

Pallbearers will be Michael Wolford, Dallas Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Douglas Sipe, Troy Gaston and Carroll Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.

Linnie Rose Robertson

TRUMANN — Mrs. Linnie Rose Robertson, 81, of Trumann died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the family residence.

She was born in and a lifetime resident of Trumann. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years and served as worthy matron.

She loved life, her family adored and loved her, and she brought so much joy and laughter to them. She will always be remembered and missed.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Jack and J.C. Parnell, and her parents, Alonzo and Rethia Harrell Parnell.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Clyde Robertson Jr. of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Leslie Holt of Greers Ferry, and Sandy and Osee Nunnally of Trumann; one sister, Christine Gartman of Trumann; four grandchildren, Sonya Holloway, Les Holt, Christy Whitlock and Misty Matney; and six great-grandchildren, Haley Holloway, Seth and Sidney Holt, Tiffany and Matthew Whitlock, and Dylan Matney.

Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 in First Baptist Church at Trumann with the Revs. Gary Barker, Michael Jernigan and Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Gartman, Darek Gartman, Jay Parnell, Gary Parnell, Terry Matney and Greg Whitlock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Anderson, Rick Gillette, Paul McAnally, John Stuckey, Matt Moon and Barry Wood.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 in Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann.

Memorials may be made to the Church of God on Balcom Lane or to First Baptist Church, Arkansas 69, both in Trumann.

Pearlie Mae Simmons

HARRISBURG — Mrs. Pearlie Mae Simmons of Harrisburg departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Woodbriar Nursing Home at Harrisburg at the age of 98.

She was born Sept. 30, 1909, in Carbon Hill, Ala., the daughter of Robert C. White and Cena Phillips White. She married George Lee Simmons in 1938, and they enjoyed 39 years together before his death in 1977.

She was a homemaker and member of the First Assembly of God in Harrisburg. She loved gardening and spending time in her flower beds.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. White and William C. White; two sisters, Cordelia White and Mary Simmons; two nephews, Clayton Simmons and Freddy Simmons; a niece, Mary Lawrence; and a great-niece, Lori Fountain.

She is survived by two nephews, John Simmons of Marked Tree and Douglas Simmons of Modesto, Calif., and a host of great- and great-great-nephews and nieces.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg with the Rev. Dwight Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home this evening from 6-8.

Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider First Assembly of God at Harrisburg, the Lake Poinsett Community Association or the charity of your choice.

Pearline Norman Smith

LEPANTO — Pearline Norman Smith, 92, of Lepanto died Monday, Aug. 5, 2008, in St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

She was born at Lepanto and a lifelong resident of the area. She was of the Baptist faith and preceded in death by her husband, Willie Smith.

Survivors include her son, James “Bud” Thomas of Tyronza; daughter, Hazel Thomas Carson of Lepanto; brothers, Albert Norman of Brentwood, Calif., and James Norman of Nixa, Mo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be this morning from 10-11 in Murphy Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11 in Potter Memorial Cemetery.

Ronnie L. Winford

LAKE CITY — Ronnie L. Winford, 63, of Lake City died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at his home.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and had lived in Lake City all of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Lake City.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Winford; his parents, Clarence and Gladys Winford; three brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Winford of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie (Missie) Winford, Kenneth (Marie) Winford and Jeffrey (Leona) Winford, all of Lake City; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Ronald) Tyler of Lake City; one brother, Ed Winford of Lake City; two sisters, Wilma Stogsdill of Lake City and Janice Finley of Huffman, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Lake City with Dr. Robert Foster and Denny Newcomb officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.

Pallbearers are Mike Hook, Jimmy McClung, Terry Couch, William Flynn, Dennis Newcomb and John Milligan.

Visitation will be from 5-8 Thursday night in First Baptist Church at Lake City.

Mary A. Feezor

JONESBORO — Mary A. Feezor, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 30, 1924, near Paragould to the late John and Cora Slatton. She was retired from St. Bernards Medical Center, where she worked as a licensed practical nurse for 31 years. She was a member of Greensboro Road Church of Christ.

Surviving are a son, William R. Feezor of Jonesboro; two sisters, Eva J. Coffey and Lenora Lewis, both of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Feezor; three brothers, Robert Slatton, Mack Slatton and Willie Slatton; and four sisters, Juanita Vowell, Ruby Jones, Laura Helms and Fannie Louise Slatton.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel of Jonesboro with Terry Joe Kee and Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday in Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 2-4 p.m.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Doyle Slatton, William Brown, Doug Welborn, Eugene Trotter, Josh Renck and Eric Coffey.
