Ina Marie Ferguson

HOXIE — Ina Marie Ferguson, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was a homemaker and member of Cash River Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Ferguson; parents, Bill and Ida Huey Norman; sons, Edward, James and Gerald Ferguson, and an infant son; sister, Francis Woaten; and brother, Edward Norman.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Hart of Walnut Ridge, Edith Handwork of Pocahontas, Marie Ferguson of Hoxie and Patsy Morris of Paragould; sons, Raymond Ferguson of Bono, Dewayne and Jimmy Ferguson of Walnut Ridge; sisters, Georgie Downs and Hallie Hoover, both of Louisville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Everett Hart and Rick Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Mary Ola Harrell

WYNNE — Mary Ola Harrell, 97, of Wynne passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Crestpark Nursing Center.

She was born April 1, 1911, in the McElroy community of Cross County. She was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Minnie L. Jones.

While living most of her life in Wynne, she was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and past president of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jethro J. Harrell; four sisters, Gladys Bailey, Marcia Coleman, Agnes DePriest and Willene Priest; and one brother, Jeffery Jones.

She is survived by three children, Mary Helen Dill and husband Frank of San Rafael, Calif., Betty Ann Dangeau and husband LeRoy of Wynne, and Dr. Harry Jethro Harrell and wife Cathy of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, George Dill of San Rafael, Chris Gazulis and husband Ted of Tiburon, Calif., Jeff Dangeau and wife India of Fayetteville, Holly Trauth and husband Ryan of Waco, Texas, Harriett Benzing and husband Aaron of Cabot, and Paul Harrell and wife Megan of Jonesboro; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas Gazulis and wife Maren of Virginia, Matthew Gazulis of California, Zachary and Sara Dangeau of Fayetteville, Matthew and Allison Benzing of Cabot and Cathryn Trauth of Waco; one sister, Murrell Holland of Memphis; one brother-in-law, Earl Priest of Memphis; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held today at 11:30 a.m. in First United Methodist Church of Wynne.

Mary Etta Holland

JONESBORO — Mary Etta Holland, 91, of Jonesboro passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center.

She was born in Mississippi on Aug. 5, 1917, to Will and Almedia Jumper. Ms. Holland was a homemaker and of the Methodist belief.

She leaves behind her sons, Bob Holland and his wife Linda, and Michael Holland, all of Bono, and Gary Holland and his wife Jamie of Jonesboro; daughters, Brenda Inzer and her husband Floyd, Bonnie Holland, Sharon Holland and Becky Holman, all of Jonesboro; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. Holland; a daughter, Genell Douglas; and two sons, Bill and Richard Holland.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Monday in Lorado Cemetery, beginning at 1 p.m., with Phil Cook officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include her grandsons.

Lasting memorials can be made to Skill Care Nursing Center Hospice, 2911 Brown’s Lane, Jonesboro 72401.

Richard Alan Jorman

HARRISON — Richard Alan Jorman, 41, of Harrison, formerly of Piggott, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Harrison.

Survivors include his parents, Sherman and Grace Jorman of Piggott; two sisters, Brenda Lee Baker and husband Brion of Salem, and Lorre Huckabay and husband Larry K. of Lafe; his dog, Kenya; nephews, Nichalos Baker and wife Terrah, and Keith, Tanner and Tyler Huckabay.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Jerry Massey officiating. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Donny Oliver

EBRO, Fla. — Donny Oliver, 74, of Ebro, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, in Panama City, Fla.

He was born July 7, 1934, at Rector to Argolis Oliver and Gertrude Waldron Oliver. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1980.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa; his brothers, Kenneth, Arlanza, Lindus and Doyce; and his sister, Arlene.

He is survived by his seven children, Glen Oliver of St. Louis, Kathy Olney and Latrisha Gurney, both of Jonesboro, Keith Oliver of Little Rock, Kelly Oliver of Rector, James Oliver and Christopher Oliver, both of Jonesboro; a sister, Wilma Jean Hillman of Panama City; a brother, John S. Oliver of Kennett, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Irby Funeral Home in Rector with interment in Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.

Betty Ruth Pearson

May 29, 1940-Aug. 7, 2008

OSCEOLA — Betty Ruth Pearson, 68, of Osceola died Thursday in Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by father, Bilbo Hill; sister, Johnnie Watkins; and brothers, Charles and Jr. Hill.

Survivors include mother, Essie Hill; daughter, Tammy McCanless; sons, Donovan Steve Pearson and Ricky Dale Pearson; sister, Nellie Smith; brothers, Gerald, Billy Wayne, Tommy and Donnie Hill; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 in Wilson Funeral Home at Osceola.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Adam Brassfield officiating. Burial is in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens at Osceola.

Shirley Pruitt

JONESBORO — Shirley Pruitt, 65, of Jonesboro died Friday morning at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Tommy Smith

LANSING, Mich. — Tommy Smith, 71, died Aug. 1, 2008.

He was born March 26, 1937, in Light to Lottie and Hester Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; children, Debbie Torok and husband Don, and Scott Smith; grandchildren, Jamie and Dustin Torok; and sisters, Wanda Slatton and husband Roy, Geneva Rowe, Viola Jones and husband Earl, Ila Robertson and Mona Howard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sonny, Paul and Gerald Smith; and sisters, Zelma Newsom, Blanche Songer and Nova Jones.

Funeral services were in Michigan.

Georgia Lee Walker

GOSNELL — Georgia Lee George Walker, 72, of Gosnell died Thursday at Gosnell HealthCare.

She was a member of Gosnell Baptist Church and a former employee of Randall Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Von T. Walker; and brothers, Calvin, Paul, Waylon, Randall and Gene George.

She is survived by her sons, Gene Curtis and wife Cindy and Jimmy Curtis of Mountain Home; and daughters, Lona Merryman and husband Jack and Dixie Jackson.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1-2. Memorial services will follow at 2 in Carney Funeral Home Chapel at Blytheville with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating.

Ma’kel Berry

CORNING — Ma’kel Berry of Corning, formerly of Senath, Mo., was born April 4, 1989, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., and passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Corning at the age of 19 years.

She was a 2007 graduate of Senath-Hornersville High School and a member of Coldwater Methodist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Donna and Jamie Cates of Senath and Todd and Robin Berry of Pocahontas; grandparents, Don and Chod Foster of Naylor, Mo., and Mary Lou Berry of Success; brothers, Tristan Berry of Success and Joseph Berry of Pocahontas; and sister, Jennifer Cates of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Berry.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Senath in Senath-Hornersville High School with the Rev. Bob McNabb officiating. Burial will follow in Cude Cemetery at Senath.

Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time.

Pallbearers will be her classmates of the class of 2007. McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath is in charge of arrangements.
