Blanche Elnora Conrad

CARDWELL, Mo. — Blanche Elnora Conrad, 84, of Cardwell died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born May 27, 1924, at Silverdale, Mo., she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Conrad of Cardwell; one son, Glen H. Conrad of Cardwell; three brothers, Benny Metheny of Leachville, Larry Metheny of Kennett, Mo., and Dennis Metheny of Washington, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Jo Mason of Columbia, Mo., and Sonja Hosman of Paragould; three grandchildren, Tonja Foster and Scott Conrad Walker, both of Paragould, and Kemberly Conrad of Springfield, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Patterson and Daniel Patterson, both of Paragould, Brittney Bertels of Elkmont, Ala., Ruby Foster and Tosha Hendrix, both of Paragould; three great-great-grandchildren, Katie Patterson, Jerry Patterson and Landen Patterson, all of Paragould; special friends, Chuck Qualls and his family of Hornersville, Mo., and Steve Albrecht of Manila.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Della Metheny; one daughter, Jerry Kay Walker; one sister, Patsy Metheny; and two brothers, Jimmy and Perry Metheny.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with David Flannery and Dwight Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Cardwell Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight, 6-8, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scott Walker, Charles Qualls, Brandon Patterson, Daniel Patterson, Steve Albrecht and Troy Foster.

Wayne Dover

BATESVILLE — Wayne Dover, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Batesville.

He was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Cave City to Charles Houston Dover and Maude L Barnett. At the age of 14 months, his mother died and his father decided to let James and Elizabeth Dover raise him in order for him to have a better life.

Wayne graduated from high school, took a test so he could teach, and taught school for a few months in a 1-room schoolhouse near Sidney.

On June 7, 1950, he married Marie Caraway and learned the trade of making dentures and dental bridges. His trade lasted some 56 years, working for Dr. Craig and Dr. Bell about 20 years and working in own dental lab for 28 years.

Wayne was very hardworking and honest, striving to do the best he could with his work and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed the outdoors with his sons, taking them hunting, and attending their baseball and football games. He was a Nettleton Raiders fan.

He also enjoyed camping with his family and going to Branson, Mo., with his wife. He loved to make wood crafts in his shop at home and made his grandchildren pieces of furniture.

He was a member of West Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught the young boys’ Sunday school class and helped with the RA’s.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Caraway Dover of the home; two sons, Darrel Dover and wife Mary of Jonesboro and Boris Dover and wife Pam of Batesville; three grandchildren, Michelle Dover, Matt Dover and Alana Dover; two nieces, Maxine Kerr and husband Bud and Kathy Schultz and husband Bob; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Othal Adams; two brothers, Charles Houston Dover Jr. and Lenith Dover; his foster parents, James Dover and Elizabeth Ann Dover; foster brothers, Herman, Ervin and Harvey Dover; and foster sisters, Lillian Caraway, Nellie Garner, Fannie Taylor and Ruby Gaither.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in West Baptist Church with Bob Dailey and Bobby Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 tonight in Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Elms, Raymond Haskins, Randy Whitaker, Gary Gordon, Sonny Cooper, Tommy Caraway and Elbert Lindsey.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Craig, Dr. R.E. Bell, Dr. William Shelton, Dr. William Beller, Dr. Douglas Matthews, Dr. Ron Bates, Brian Edwards, Glenn Edwards, Bruce Rutherford, Durwood Elms, Eddie Haskins, Jerry Gibbs and Bill Campbell’s Men’s Class of West Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Baptist Church Building Fund, 1100 North Central Ave., Batesville 72501, or White River Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 2197, Batesville 72503.

Roy Jess Isom

PARAGOULD — Roy Jess Isom, 52, of Paragould passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in St. Louis at John Cockrum VA Medical Center.

He was born July 4, 1956, in San Andreas, Calif., to Roy and Georgia McMains Isom. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Fairview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Huffine Isom; three daughters, Rebecca Book, Jamie Moore and her husband Jacob and Cindy Tracer and her husband Jason, all of Paragould; three brothers, Ben Isom of Brookland, Earnest Isom of Jonesboro and Everett Isom of Hazen; four sisters, Luetta Neal of Kennett, Mo., Flavia Davis of Lafe, Nellie Manka and Clara Hill, both of Paragould; and four grandchildren, Alex Book, Nick and Brayden England and Kira Tracer.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Haynes and Christine Hadley.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 tonight in Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Terry Songer officiating. Burial will be in Gainesville Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers will be his nephews, Lesley, Ben, Sam, Chesley and Ed Isom and Brad Brewer. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Huffine, David Sheppard, Mike Ellis, Anthony Templeton, Sam King and Mike Whitby.

Gerthie Faye Mack

TRUMANN — Gerthie Faye Mack, 79, of Trumann died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

She was born at Walnut, Miss., and had lived in Trumann since 1965. Mrs. Mack was formerly of Marked Tree. She was a housewife and of the Pentecostal faith.

Mrs. Mack was preceded in death by her husband, George Warren Mack, in 1975; one daughter, Deb­bie McCrary; one grandson, Arlen Dale “Junior” Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Madison Crawford; two sisters; five brothers; and her parents, Ruben and Myrtle Wilbanks Armstrong.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Campbell and Georgia Cook, both of Trumann, and Cynthia Mack of Robinsonville, Miss.; one goddaughter, Cherri Roseles of Robinsonville; one son, John Wayne Armstrong Sr. of Trumann; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11 in the Full Gospel Tabernacle near Trumann with Shelby Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Active pallbearers will be Trey Carter, John Armstrong Jr., Myles Armstrong, Arron McCrary, Gary Campbell and Josh Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Schrader, Joey Bloodworth and David Russell Jr.

Visitation will be tonight from 3-8 in Full Gospel Tabernacle on Highway 69 East of Trumann.

Doyle Tarlton

JONESBORO — Doyle Tarlton, 75, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at St Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Born Jan. 23, 1933, at Pocahontas, he was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Damon and Bessie Tarlton; and two sisters, Jewell Thielemier and Imogene Mize.

He owned and operated Doyles Auto Parts in Marked Tree and retired in 1995. He was greatly loved as a husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evalene Bennett Tarlton of the home; one son, L.D. Tarlton (Ann) of Marked Tree; one daughter, Julianne Layman of Jonesboro; one brother, Bill Tarlton of Cove; four grandsons, Michael and Mitchell Layman of Jonesboro and Dwaine and Lance Tarlton of Marked Tree.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 in Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ronnie Benson officiating.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers: Greg Thielemier, Larry Tarlton, Robert Gill II, Mike Ulmer, Earl Thompson and Rob Dempsey.

Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Hospice, 1726 Marie Circle, Jonesboro 72401.

Bonnie Dean Wagner

BLYTHEVILLE — Bonnie Dean Hodges Wagner, 70, of Blythe­ville died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at St Bernards Regional Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Born to Aven and Ellen Poe Hodges in Manila, she was a past school teacher and worked side by side with her husband for the remainder of her life. She loved playing bridge with her special group of friends.

As an avid sports fan, she loved watching the Atlanta Braves as well as watching her five grandsons play sports. She will be remembered as a devoted wife of 49 years, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Fred O. Wagner of the home; children, Dawn and Chris Barre, Bryan and Cindy Wagner; grandsons, Sam Alan Barre, Ben Barre, Will Barre, Mac Wagner and Dawson Wagner, all of Jonesboro; brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Alice Hodges of Leachville; and sisters and brother-in-law, Norma and Clifford Veach of Manila and Esther Barker of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. David Ross officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5-7 in Cobb Funeral Home.

Willie Dean Ward

MANILA — Willie Dean “Deana” Ward, 59, of Manila died on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at her residence after a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 13, 1948, at Luxora to the late Marvin Henry Walker and Annie Barnett Walker.

Funeral service will be today at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God of Manila with the Rev. James Chipman officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery at Blytheville.

The family received visitors on Sunday in the church.

Faith Funeral Service of Manila is in charge of arrangements.

Marcella Barrett

ALTON, Mo. — Marcella Barrett, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
