Lt. Col. Teddy Pylant
JONESBORO — Lt. Col. Teddy Wayne Pylant (retired), 67, of Jonesboro died Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008, at his home of colon cancer.
Born at the Childress community near Monette, Lt. Col. Pylant moved to Jonesboro in 1965. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served 341/2 years with the Arkansas National Guard, retiring in 1994.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University and a master’s degree from Webster University at St. Louis. Ted was an account executive and weatherman for KAIT-TV and an announcer for Radio KNEA for several years.
Ted was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Murl Smith Sunday school class.
Ted was the founder and first president of the Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation, American Legion Pickett Post 21, Disabled American Veterans Post 26, VFW Roy Wiles Post 1991 and the Northeast Arkansas 
military Officer Association of America. He was past president of Jonesboro Jaycees and past member of University Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chancie Everett and Macey Elizabeth Meredith Pylant; and three brothers, Max Pylant, Rudy Pylant and Ira Pylant.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Grant Pylant of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry Everett and Maureen Pylant of Sherwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Elizabeth and John Williams of Jonesboro; one sister, Billie Fern Garver of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one brother, Jack Pylant of Iuka, Miss.; and three grandchildren, John Chancie Williams, Cassandra Sue Williams and Nicole Elizabeth Pylant.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 in Walnut Street Baptist Church with Glen Putman and Max Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park with full military honors.
Active pallbearers include Capt. Brian Mason, U.S. Army National Guard; Maj. Michael Henderson, U.S. Army National Guard; retired Lt. Col. Edward Tanner, U.S. Air Force (retired); Maj. James “Ed” Foster, U.S. Army Special Forces (retired); Petty Officer Robert Cushman, U.S. Navy; and Staff Sgt. Joseph Furniss, U.S. Marine Corps.
Honorary pallbearers include Ralph Boling, Billy Cribbs, Burnis Posey, Max Alexander, Murl Smith, Marvin Jumper, Carl Mosby, Jerry Bowen and the American Legion Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

John William Recker

HOXIE — John William Recker, 93, of Hoxie passed away Friday.
He was born at Dewitt, the son of Callie and Charles Recker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Exa; brother, Raymond Recker; and sister, Harriet Recker.
Survivors include his three daughters, Bobbye Truitt of Noland, Phyllis Smith of Powder Springs, Ga., and Willette Thomas of Searcy; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lawrence Memorial Park.
Visitation will start at 1 p.m. today.
Nolen Alexander Reedmer
March 25, 1969-Sept. 5, 2008
BIGGERS — Nolen Alexander Reedmer, 39, of Biggers passed away Friday at Five Rivers Medical Center.
He was born to the late Steve and Ruth Bryant Reedmer.
He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Reedmer of the home; three sisters, Charlotte Curtis of Reyno, Debbie Tillie of Jonesboro and Cecelia Reedmer of Ardmore, Okla.; seven nephews; one niece; one aunt; one uncle; several cousins; and other family and many loving friends.
Visitation will be Monday night from 4-6 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Memorial services start at 6 p.m. with Roger Hovis officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Tribble, John Hammond, Casey Seagraves, Mike Sheppard, Mike Ramsey, Mike Hambrick and Bryant Fletcher.
Patsy Ruty Stotts
JONESBORO — Patsy Ruth Stotts, 75, of Jonesboro died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born at Black Oak and had lived in Jonesboro since 1981, moving here from Glendale, Calif.
Patsy was a graduate of ASU, receiving a degree in radio-television. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the 4th Quarter Club of First United Methodist Church.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Gary Dobbins and wife Connie of Marmaduke; one daughter, Judy Abernathy and husband David of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.
Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, John Benson Jr., Jason Benson, Tad Dobbins, Michael Dobbins, Chris Clayton and Chad Clayton.
Visitation will be from noon until service time in the church.

JONESBORO — Charles Trantham, 78, of Jonesboro passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time Monday in the funeral home.
James ‘Eddie’ Burton
Feb. 5, 1946-Sept. 6, 2008
WYNNE — James “Eddie” Burton, 62, of Wynne died Saturday at CrossRidge Hospital at Wynne.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Violet Watson Burton.
Survivors include his father, Elay Roy Burton of Jonesboro; son, Jeff Burton of Wynne; daughter, Marla Burton of Wynne; brothers, Hershel of Rochelle, Ill., Jerry of Jonesboro and Tommy Burton of Evansville, Ind.; and sisters, Norma Cotton of Helena and Jeannie Poe of Hernando, Miss.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home. Interment will be in Vanndale Cemetery.
Visitation is tonight from 6-8 in the funeral home.
Ray B. Clark
BLACK ROCK — Ray B. Clark, 89, of Black Rock passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born April 29, 1919, at Alicia, the son of George and Dora Johnson Clark, he was a maintenance man for General Electric. He served in the Army during World War II and he was a member of New Life Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Black Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pasty Clark; a brother, Wayne Clark; a grandson, Russell Miller; and a great-grandson, Dominic Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie of the home; four sons, Larry Clark of Jonesboro, Gaylon Clark of Lake City, James Clark of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Rick Clark of Jonesboro; a daughter, Diane Moore of Hoxie; five brothers, Glen Clark of Fresno, Calif., Donald Clark of Visalia, Calif., Lonnie Clark of California, L.J. Westmoreland and Wilford Westmoreland, both of Mammoth Springs; three sisters, Alma Reiff and Mary Hutchins, both of Mesa, Ariz., and Alice McEntire of Visalia; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ricky Clark and Wayne Bryant officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Clark, Justin Clark, Allen Moore, Mark Mills, Jason Huffmaster and Nick Snearly.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eulas Dorton, John Ward, Bill Allen, Gene Whitlow, Truel Ratliff, Arlen Williams and Glendon Williams.
Interment will be in Swifton Cemetery
under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Jewell Locke Davis
BLYTHEVILLE — Jewell Locke Davis, 84 of Blytheville died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Blytheville.
She was born at Delaplaine to Albert and Lillie Clayton Locke.
Survivors include Donald and Kathryn Davis; grandchildren, Donna and Charles Fincher, Michael and Teresa Davis, Sheila Thomas, Chris and Tina Davis, Sherri and David Larkin and Renita and Gary Sprouse; brothers, Virgil Locke, Johnnie Locke, Henry and Freida Locke and Ernest Locke; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 2 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Joseph Lee Follin

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Joseph Lee Follin, 88, of Cherokee Village died Saturday at Fulton County Hospital at Salem.
Born at Mortons Gap, Ky., to Squire Heady Follin and Virgie Emmaline Ezell Follin, he was a World War II veteran and retired from General Motors.
Survivors include wife, Mabel “Ruth” Follin; daughters, Sandra Leigh James and Carol Ann Bishop; sons, Fred Thomas Follin and Larry Benjamin Follin; sister, Ruth Fowler; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Reid-Walter Funeral Home at Earlington, Ky., with burial in Salem Cemetery
at Mortons Gap.
Local arrangements are by Tri-County Funeral Home.
