Joyce Killian

NEWPORT — Joyce Killian, 67, of Newport died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008.

She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church at Newport.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

She is survived by her husband, James Killian; son, Robbie Crafford; daughter, Tanya Malcolm; three grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Visitation will be tonight from 5:30-7:30 in the funeral home.

Herman L. O’Brien

TRUMANN — Herman L. O’Brien, 56, of Trumann died Friday, Sept. 5, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

He was born at Trumann and lived most of his life there. He loved hunting anything from deer to squirrel. He loved to fish and especially enjoyed working on vehicles.

He was a retired road grader in Poinsett County. He was of the Baptist belief.

Mr. O’Brien is survived by his wife, Brenda O’Brien of Trumann; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Wayne Chaffin and Amber and Matt Lairson; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sheila O’Brien, all of Trumann; grandchildren, Cody Blanchard, Hunter Chaffin, Josh Chaffin and Hailey Chaffin; his mother-in-law, Lerlene Stracener; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; one nephew and four nieces who dearly loved him; and one special friend, Louis Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Lona Haslett O’Brien; a brother, Ricky O’Brien; and his father-in-law, Ernest Stracener.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Pine Log Cemetery with Dale Davis officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Ealey, Steve Stracener, Jerry Stracener, Johnny Whitman, Robbie Rouse and Mike Sullivan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Stracener, Johnny Blagg, Luthar Blagg, William Bonds, Terry Reed and Bull Tucker.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 in the funeral home.

Patsy Ruth Stotts

JONESBORO — Patsy Ruth Stotts, 75, of Jonesboro died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born at Black Oak and lived in Jonesboro since 1981, moving here from Glendale, Calif.

Patsy was a graduate from ASU, receiving a degree in radio-television. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the 4th Quarter Club of First United Methodist Church.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Evan Stotts Sr. and Edythe Johnson Stotts; three brothers, Evan Stotts Jr., Charles Stotts and Billy Stotts; and two sisters, Wanda Bush and Betty Almeida.

Survivors include her son, Gary Dobbins and wife Connie of Marmaduke; one daughter, Judy Abernathy and husband David of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, John Benson Jr., Jason Benson, Tad Dobbins, Michael Dobbins, Chris Clayton and Chad Clayton.

Visitation will be from noon until service time in the church.

Carolyn Stringer

PARAGOULD — Carolyn Virginia Barnhill Stringer, 65, was born on Oct. 3, 1942, at Paragould. She went to be with her Sweet Jesus on Sept. 6, 2008.

Visitation will be held in Heath Funeral Home at Paragould Sept. 9 from 9-11 a.m.

Services will be held Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel followed by a brief service at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Her loving spirit will live in the hearts of her survivors: her husband, Galen Stringer; her daughter, Angie Stringer; her daughter, Tonya Stringer Wright; her son-in-law, Joey Wright; and her sweet granddaughters, Rachil and Josey Wright, all of Jonesboro.

Carolyn is now with her family who preceded her into heaven: her dad, Woodrow Barnhill; mother, Rachil Barnhill; and her two brothers, Fred and Larry Barnhill.

She worked for many years as a certified Home Health Care aide and was employed by Sam’s Wholesale at Jonesboro.

All of her family and friends will remember Carolyn’s love and laughter. She is now delighting the angels.

Mary Thompson

BATESVILLE — Mary Thompson, 88, of Batesville died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thompson; parents, Tom and Emma Corter; and son, Robert Lee Thompson.

She is survived by sons, Charles, Earl Calvin, Cletiaus and Carl Thompson; daughters, Deloris Thompson and Carolyn Kay Woodell; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Dillinger Chapel with burial in Maple Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-7:30 in the funeral home.

Charles Trantham

JONESBORO — Charles Trantham, 78, of Jonesboro passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.

Charles was born at West Plains, Mo., to James and Susan Trantham. He was a graduate of Arkansas State College, now Arkansas State University. Charles retired from Riceland Foods at Helena as a warehouseman. He served his country in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Trantham of the home; a son, Chuck Trantham of Fayetteville; three daughters, Charlotte Greenwood and Cindy Carson, both of Jonesboro, and Beverly Kummer of Bristol, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with the Rev. John Miles officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Bill Carson, Brian Greenwood, Martin Greenwood, Clayton Hall, Brad Davis and Andrew Brown.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 801 South Main St., Jonesboro 72401.

Connie Ruth Castaneda

PARAGOULD — Connie Ruth Fisher Castaneda, 42, died Aug. 29 in Paragould.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Pine Log Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Enrique; daughter, Angelica; son, Enrique; parents, Joyce and Mackie Smith; brother, Mackie Jr.; sisters, Sharon and Peggy; and granddaughters, Kierston and Hailey.

Millard Cletus Ehrhardt

PARAGOULD — The Rev. Millard Cletus Ehrhardt, 84, of Paragould died Monday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was a retired minister of 60 years and school teacher. He attended Grace United General Baptist Church and was a member of the Alton, Mo., Free Will Baptist Church.

In 1945 the church called him for a deacon in Diles Creek Free Will Baptist Church. He was ordained by the Cave Springs Free Will Baptist Church Association and served the church until 1948. Then God called him into the ministry and blessed him with the privilege of pastoring 12 different churches down through the years. It was his desire to see people saved and grow strong in the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Ehrhardt, and sisters, Dorothy Smith, Geneva Ehrhardt and Dorris Deckard.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Robinson and husband, Mickey, of Paragould; brother, Lehman Ehrhardt of Myrtle, Mo.; sisters, Patsy and Audrey Ehrhardt, both of West Plains, Mo., and Lossie Evans of Thayer, Mo.; grandchildren, Jonathan and Chris Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Braden, Chandler, Braxton and Madison Robinson.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 at Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Richard Todd and Kevin Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan and Chris Robinson, Dow and Arnold Wilkerson, J.A. and Jerry Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Braden and Chandler Robinson.

The family requests that memorials be made to Grace United General Baptist Church.
