Winnie Mae Hargrave

JONESBORO — Winnie Mae Elrod Hargrave, 78, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at her home.

She was born at Jonesboro on Feb. 3, 1930, to Claude and Lorena Elrod. Mrs. Hargrave was a retired dental assistant, member of Immanuel Baptist Church and loved to quilt.

She leaves behind her husband, Bill Hargrave of the home; a son, Gene Hargrave and his wife Regenia of Paragould; two daughters, Sarah Tilley of Jonesboro and Eva Owens of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Stephanie Owens, Lori Hughes, Shannon Carr, Bill Carr Jr., Melissa Tilley and Jeremy Hargrave; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Hicks of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dorothy Standefer of Jonesboro; and two brothers, Alton Elrod of Bono and Jack Elrod of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Carr; and a brother, Chester Elrod.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Saturday in Union Grove Cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m., with Randy Lingenfelter and Danny Elrod officiating.

Pallbearers will include Bill Carr Jr., David Elrod, Derrick Elrod, Darrel Sharp, David Hughes, Jeremy Hargrave, Doug Cooper and Sonny Lingenfelter.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jack Elrod, Alton Elrod, Gaylon Elrod, Barbara Speaks, Johnnie Gambill, Linda Ellison and Dr. John S. Johnson.

Visitation will be held this evening from 5-8 in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Lasting memorials can be made to the American Diabetes. Association.

William Franklin Cavitt

WEST MEMPHIS — William Franklin Cavitt, 70, of West Memphis died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008.

He was a retired automotive technician and member of West Memphis First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cavitt of West Memphis; daughters, Kathy Williamson and Stephanie Reece, both of Marion; grandchildren, Katie and Zack Williamson and Mary Claire Reece; and sister, Vickey Baney of Jonesboro.

Services will be Thursday morning at 11 in Roller-Citizens Chapel with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8:30 at the funeral home.

Memorial are requested to West Memphis First Assembly of God building fund.

Larry Ray ‘Chiefy’ Daniels

BRADFORD — Larry Daniels, 59, died Monday at White County Medical Center South in Searcy.

He had lived in Walnut Ridge for about 20 years before moving to Bradford. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie Daniels of the home; daughters, Ashley Nicole Daniels of Arlington, Tenn., and Leslie Daniels of Walnut Ridge; stepson, David Gourley of Indianapolis, Ind.; and sister, Betty Davis of Paragould.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Robbie Jean English

OSCEOLA — Robbie Jean Burks English, 53, of Osceola died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008.

She was born Nov. 1, 1954, to the late Deliala and Reese Burks Sr. Her husband, Joe Thomas English; one son; one sister; and three brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Scarlett Renea Tyler and Evan Dewayne Burks, both of South Bend, Ind.; sister, Leola Lawhart of Pontiac, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Whiteside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home.

Bobby R. East

WALNUT RIDGE — Bobby Relton East, 74, of Walnut Ridge passed away Sept. 8, 2008.

Born Dec. 30, 1933, in Alicia, he was the son of Jess and Wanda Freeman East. He was a painter and member of The Church.

He is survived by three children; an aunt, Ellen Freeman of Walnut Ridge; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be Friday at 6:30 p.m. in The Church, 502 Northeast 2nd, Walnut Ridge, with Freddie Hatfield officiating.

Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home.

Bobby Lee Forbis

PARAGOULD — Bobby Lee Forbis, 42, died Tuesday in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Forbis.

Survivors include his daughter, Angie Forbis; a son, Jerrett Forbis; his mother, Doris Forbis; a grandson, Draven Lee Forbis; granddaughters, Allie De Shan Smith, Madeline Elizabeth Woodson; brothers, Walter Forbis, Gaylon Forbis, all of Paragould; and Michael Forbis of Waco, Texas.

He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Forbis and Kaye Rogers of Paragould, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

James Edward Grissom

BONO — James Edward Grissom, 72, of Bono passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008.

Survivors include his sons, Dave Grissom of Hoxie and Jerry Grissom of Walnut Ridge; daughter, Patsy Grissom of Strawberry; sister, Ovalene Needham of Bono; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Shiloh Cemetery near Paragould.

Visitation will be before services from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bryan Funeral Home at Hoxie.

Jess Harris

PARAGOULD — Funeral services for 68-year-old Jess Harris of Paragould, who died Sept. 13, 2008, at his home, will be today at 10 a.m. in Mulberry Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Pine Knott Cemetery.

Survivors include his sons, Ronald M. Harris of Paragould and Charles Harris of Murray, Ky.; brothers, Bob Harris and Carman Harris, both of Maynard; one sister, Jean Helsell of Pocahontas; and three grandchildren, Brittand, Amber and Hailey Harris, all of Murray.

Alicia Dawn Hill

JONESBORO — Alicia Dawn Hill, 35, died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Tucson, Ariz., but had lived in Jonesboro the past 11 years, moving here from Osceola, Iowa.

She was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very active in Narcotics Anonymous helping people overcome their addiction and she loved and collected frogs. She was a volunteer for the relief effort for Hurricane Katrina survivors and was known for her laughter.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Adam Hill; her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Kelley; cousin, Shonna Donadio; and three uncles.

She is survived by two sons, Christian Alan Farnsworth and Nathaniel Adam Farnsworth, both of Jonesboro; a daughter, Sierra Dawn Holland of Jonesboro; brother, Alan Hill and wife Kristen of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Christina Klasky and husband David of Jonesboro, Constance and husband Matthew of Caldwell, Idaho, Charity Underwood and husband Tim of Jonesboro; a sister-in-law, Tosha Hill of Jonesboro; and 24 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 301 E. Highland Drive, with Bishop Jonathan Mobley officiating.

Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nathan Earl Hubrins Jr.

Oct. 18, 1950-Sept. 12, 2008

LUXORA — Nathan Earl Hubrins Jr., 57, of Luxora died Friday in Jonesboro.

He was the son of the late Sue Ann Norwood and Nathan Hubrins Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hubrins; children, Nita Goldman, Denise Diamond, Bridgette Harvey, Steven Hubrins, Nathan Smith and Fred Talley; siblings, Elnora Roberston, Rosie Porter, Gloria, Carolyn, Judith, Arlene, Matt, Ernest, Steve, Ronnie, Michael and Willie Hubrins; and 20 grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday afternoon at 3 in Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church at Luxora with burial in Whiteside Cemetery at Osceola.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8 at Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home.

Virgil M. Humphrey

DURAND, Ill. — Virgil M. Humphrey, 85, Durand, Ill., died at 8:20 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in Medina Manor Nursing Center at Durand.

Born Feb. 1, 1923, at Peach Orchard, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Otra Melton Humphrey. Virgil married Beulah King on July 4, 1944. Virgil moved his family to Rockford, Ill. from Arkansas in 1950.

He worked for Rockford Machine Tool in the maintenance department and later for Sundstrand as a machinist. On Dec. 8, 1951, Beulah and Virgil moved from Rockford to Cleveland Lane in Durand, Ill. In 1959 Virgil bought the Sunoco Service Station in Harrison, Ill.

Survivors include his four children, daughter, Edna (Curt) Eilertson of The Villages, Fla., son, Virgil L. (Gloria) Humphrey of Rockton, Ill., daughter, Glenda (Dean) Gilbert of Durand and son Steve (Laurie) Humphrey of Yoder, Ind.; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cletis, J.C. and Jack; and sisters, Arbie May, Maxine, Irene and Jewel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Otra; his wife, Beulah; four brothers, Chester, Vester, Vaudie and Matthew; and one granddaughter, Jacqueline.

Cremation rites to be accorded. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main St., Durand at 2:30 p.m., Saturday.
