Beatrice ‘Bea’ Hunter

JONESBORO — Beatrice “Bea” Hunter, 88, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday morning at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Jacie Lee James

JOINER — Jacie Lee James, infant daughter of Thomas and Jonie James, was born and died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

She is also survived by a sister, Arianah Kaye James of Joiner; grandparents, Les and Debbie James of Mishawaka, Ind., and Johnnie and Rose Clifton of Lepanto; great-grandparents, Leroy and Dorothy James, and Barbara Graves, all of Mishawaka, Jimmy Mann and Marsha Ashley, both of Bassett.

Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. in Louise Chapel Cemetery at Joiner with Keith Stokes officiating. Services are under the direction of Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home.

Gracie Helen Jessen

PARAGOULD — Gracie Helen Jessen, 59, of Paragould died Monday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1949, in North Sioux City, S.D., the daughter of Carvey and Bernice Rozell.

She married Elmer Jessen on Oct. 12, 1968, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2005.

Mrs. Jessen was a caregiver at Greene Acres Nursing Center in Paragould for several years and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Miller of Paragould and Kelly Mulvihill of Greenwood; one brother, Pete Rozell of Parkville, Mo.; two sisters, Linda Prevail of Sioux City, Iowa, and Connie Booe of Port Richey, Fla.

She was also survived by five grandchildren, Crystal Brewington, Natalie Mulvihill, Mia Mulvihill, Cameron Jessen and Michael Miller.

A host of other relatives and friends will mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Kevin Jessen; one daughter, Tonya Lee Jessen; two brothers, Rod and Dean Rozell; and a sister, Fern Doran.

A memorial service is planned for 3:30 p.m. Friday in the New Paragould Community Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service in Walnut Ridge.

Wilma Bertie Jeter

POCAHONTAS — Wilma Bertie Jeter, 95, passed away Monday at Five Rivers Medical Center.

She was born April 22, 1913, at Sasakawa, Okla., to the late Charles L. Lee and Frances McKnight Lee.

Her husband, Cleo Jeter preceded her in death. Preceding her in death were her daughter, Darlene Young; one son, Bobby Culvor; four brothers; and two sisters.

Wilma had moved to Pocahontas in 1976, upon retiring from the California almond growers to live near her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and camping.

She was active through the years in the Good Sam Club, Randolph County Medical Center Auxiliary, Pocahontas Women’s Bowling Association and attended Sutton Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Clem Faye Carpenter of Highland, Texas, and Juanita Shelton of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Jody Thielemier of Pocahontas, Darrell Young of Amarillo, Texas, Clint Young of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Carole Chambers of Humble, Okla., Dennis Culver of Shreveport, La., Janice Anderson, Brent Culver and Bandey Culver, all of Oklahoma; 13 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery with Randy Scott and grandchildren officiating.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Young, Clint Young, Austin Young, Tahnee Green, Benjamin Thielemier and Bob Hoskins.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 West Markham St., Suite 130, Little Rock 72205; American Cancer Society, c/o Kay McDonald, P.O. Box 741, Pocahontas 72455; Sutton Free Will Baptist building fund or the charity of one’s choice.

Shelby Young

MEMPHIS — Shelby Young, 89, of Memphis died Saturday at his residence.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Jeanette Barnett Young.

Survivors include one son, Mike Layman of Jonesboro; one daughter, Nanette Stanchak of Horn Lake, Miss.; two brothers, Bruce Young of Georgetown, Mo., Archie Young of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Jean Thompson of Memphis, Ruth Scott of Southhaven, Miss., and Betty Owens of Wesson, Miss.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Marked Tree Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Joe Barnett officiating.

Gene Adams

LEPANTO — Gene Adams, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 20, at his residence at Lepanto.

He was a computer engineer for Acxiom and of the Church of Christ faith.

One brother, Paul Adams, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Adams; his parents, Billy and Johnnie Adams; son, Willie Adams, all of Collierville, Tenn.; daughter, Jami (Brian) Kohan of Lepanto; brother, Scott Adams of Collierville; and granddaughter, Annabelle Kohan.

Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight in Murphy Funeral Home.

Services will be in Murphy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with burial in Potter Memorial Cemetery. Derek Glover will officiate.

Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Edge

LAKE CITY — Kathleen Edge, 43, of Lake City died Saturday, Sept. 20, at her home.

Born at Osceola, she had lived most of her life in Manila. She was a certified nurse’s aide and was a member of Fairview Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Edge of Lake City; two daughters, Angela Wilburn of Manila and Connie Edge of Osceola; parents, Odell and Connie Jones of Manila; brother, Lee Jones of Manila; and three grandchildren, Erin Wilburn, Amber Wilburn and Taylin Wilburn.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel at Manila. Burial will be in Leachville Cemetery.

The familiy will receive visitors tonight from 6-8 in the Howard Chapel at Manila.

R.E. Gates

NEWPORT — Mr. R.E. Gates, 68, of Newport died Saturday, Sept. 20.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma.

Survivors include one son, Captain Robert Greg Gates of Fort Gordon, Ga.; daughter, Kimberly Gates; two brothers, Harold Gates and Bobby Gates, all of Newport; two sisters, Wilma Evans of Newport and Brenda Taylor of Memphis; and four grandchildren, Lucas Gates, Robert Gates, Josh Gates and Raven Gates.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday night from 6-9 in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Rachel Cole King

HARRISBURG — Mrs. Rachel Cole King, a lifetime resident of the Harrisburg area, departed this life on Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 2008, at her parents’ home in Harrisburg at the age of 34.

She was born April 17, 1974, at Harrisburg, the daughter of Jackie and Edie Cole. She was a 1992 graduate of Harrisburg High School and married Gary King on July 10, 1992. They enjoyed 16 years together.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.

She is survived by her parents, Jackie and Edie Cole of Harrisburg; her husband, Gary Cole of Cherry Valley; three children, Cody King, Kynley King and Whitlie King, all of the home; one brother, Bryan Cole of Jonesboro; and one sister, Becky Drum of Harrisburg.

Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg with the Revs. Aaron Cole and Mike Tabbor officiating. Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home tonight from 6-8.

Terry King, Austin Cole, Bobby Joe Hodges, Todd McCullum, Mitchell Drumm and Travis Drum will serve as pallbearers.

Anna Lyle

SWIFTON — Mrs. Anna Lyle, 71, of Swifton died Saturday, Sept. 20.

Survivors include her son, James Waller Lyle and wife Charlotte; two daughters, Katherine Lyle Harbison and husband Charles, and Shirley Lyle Hitt and husband Jim, all of Swifton; two brothers, Albert and William Roper; three sisters, Rosie Freeman, Juanita Trimmer and Mary McCall; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in Abiding Faith Church of God at Swifton. Interment will be in Stranger’s Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
