Bobby Joe Aycock

LAKE CITY — Bobby Joe Aycock, 62, of Lake City died Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2008, at his home.

He had lived his life in Lake City and was of the Baptist belief. Bobby Joe enjoyed hunting and woodworking and was a member of the Lake City Yacht Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Ingram and Joseph P. Aycock.

Bobby Joe was survived by his wife of 34 years, Brenda Aycock of the home; daughters, Kim Sneed of Monette, Lynn Tucker of Lake City, Vanessa Hafer and husband Matthew of Dixie, and Miranda Denton of the home; one brother, Delmer Maple of Lake City; grandchildren, Jacey Sneed, Jessica Tucker, Bradley Tucker, Kerra Tucker, Jaycee Hawkins, Dylan Hafer, Ethan Hafer and Abigail Hafer; nieces, Holly Atkinson and Kim Cagle; and nephews, Michael Corter and Robert Corter.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church at Lake City with Sean Milliken and Larry Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Wayne Malone, Jackie Davis, John Varner, Michael Corter, Robert Corter, James Hafer, Jon Milligan and Donald Hood. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Lake City Yacht Club.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in the Lake City First Baptist Church.

Gracie May Brown

JONESBORO — Gracie May Brown, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1919, at Tuckerman to the late George and Leanna House. Mrs. Brown retired from Arkansas State University after 16 years working in the cafeteria.

She loved her church, a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and a charter member of the Needham Baptist Church. She was a member of the church bowling league and loved gardening and flowers.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Earl Brown and wife Vivian of Brookland; a daughter, Judy White and husband Richard of Jonesboro; a brother, Gaylon House of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jerrod Brown, Andy White, David White, Kimberly Tinnon, Nicole Miller and Jamie Holladay; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brown; granddaughter, Jill Renee White; a brother, Woodard House, and a sister, Helen Meador.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Gregg Funeral Home at Jonesboro with the Revs. Paul White and Don Seat officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in Gregg Funeral Home at Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerrod Brown, Andy White, David White, Scott Miller, Will House and Drew Brown, and as honorary pallbearers, Gaylon Jones, Matt Jones and Chris Knight.

The family will like to express a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Woodruff for the wonderful care.

Mildred P. Chappel

Jan. 25, 1926-Oct. 4, 2008

HOXIE — Mildred P. Chappel, 82, of Hoxie died Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital at Walnut Ridge.

The daughter of Charles and Anna Rule Heard, Mildred was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Walnut Ridge. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1943, in Lawrence County to Earl Chappel, who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1981.

Survivors include nine children, Jeff Chappel, Imogene Clay, James Chappel, Vera Chappel and Debra Brown, all of Hoxie, Charles Chappel, Juanita Jackson, Loretta Wheeler of Walnut Ridge and Danny Chappel of Garden Prairie, Ill.; three sisters, Lois Meeker of Hoxie, Onia Mae Wilburn of Walnut Ridge and Charlene Nelson of Granite City, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also mourn her passing.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Archie Chappel; one grandson, David Chappel; and one brother, Billy Heard.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge with pastors Rodger Tidwell and Joshua Farley officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery at Portia. Services are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services of Walnut Ridge.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge.

Max Ray Hawk

SENATH, Mo. — Graveside services for 70-year-old Max Ray Hawk, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Heritage Gardens of Senath, will be today at 11:30 a.m. in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Visitation will be held in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel at Marmaduke prior to the service from 9-11 a.m.

Lois Henson

WALNUT RIDGE — Lois Henson, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 4.

A member of the Church of Christ, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Nathan Henson; parents; son, Jerry Henson; and a grandson, brother and sister.

Survivors include sons, Mike Henson of Walnut Ridge and Bill Henson of Harrisburg; sisters, Mary Jane Alessio and Snoda Berry; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Rob Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation is tonight from 5:30-8 in the funeral home.

Brad Holt

JONESBORO — Brad Holt, 37, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Oct. 5, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

He had lived in Jonesboro since 1991, moving here from the McCrory and Bald Knob area.

Brad was an Army veteran, stationed at Fort Bliss. He was a 1989 graduate of McCrory High School, where he was a star football player.

Brad loved football, weight lifting and racquetball. His favorite hobby, though, was his children.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 12 years, Amy Holt; his son, Tyler Holt; his daughter, Ashley Range, all of Jonesboro; his mother, Linda Meredith of Judsonia; his brothers, Mark Holt of Michigan and Chris Holt of Bald Knob; his sister, Shawn Fort of Sherwood; his grandfather, J.L. Phillips of Judsonia; and his father and mother-in-law, Joseph L. and Joyce Range of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bessie Phillips.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday in Emerson Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. with Mark Wood and Jerry Parker officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Holt, Chris Holt and Sergio Rocha.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Yvonne Joplin

BONO — Yvonne Joplin, 72, died Saturday at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and are entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Virginia Layman

TYRONZA — Virginia Layman, 74, of Tyronza died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at her residence in Tyronza.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tyronza. She owned and operated a clothing store.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn Layman Jr. of Imperial, Mo., and David Layman of Lepanto; one daughter, Tamara Wyatt of Lepanto; one brother, John Frank Corley of Havana; two sisters, Beulah Spenser of Havana and Lorene Robinson of Danville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight in First Baptist Church of Tyronza.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church with Raymond Routon officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mark McDaniel, Jerry Ming, John Bell, Bobby Bell, Walter Jones and Curtis Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Tyronza Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tyronza.

Mary Elizabeth Morrisett

MARKED TREE — Mary Elizabeth Morrisett, 54, of Marked Tree died Saturday, Oct. 4, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was a member of the Church of God, a singer and musician.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bert Busch and Garner Morrisett Jr.; her parents, Eudell and Dovie Kent; brother, Buddy Kent; and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Nick Busch of Trumann; daughter, Christi (Jonathan) Murray of Jonesboro; sisters, Martha Howard, Erma Creekmore and Pat Harris, all of Marked Tree, Barbara Harris of Payneway, Wanda Prater of West Memphis, Penny Uptmor of Texas City, Texas, and Betty Jo Allen of Wynne; seven stepchildren; and five grandchildren, Landon and Murray Stotts, and Misty, Austin and Matthew Murray.

Services will be in the Church of God at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Patrick Tucker, Larry Ballard and Don Abbott will officiate. Burial will be in Marked Tree Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home at Marked Tree is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be in Murphy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.
