Richard DeVoe

CORNING — Richard DeVoe, 66, of Corning passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at home.

Mr. DeVoe was a railroad worker.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Tabaka of Corning; daughters, Tammy Rogers of Corning and Priscilla Tarantino of Sikeston, Mo.; brother, Russell Storck of St. Louis; sisters, Gail Long of St. Louis and Barbara Goff of O’Fallon, Mo.; and granddaughter, Jaden Tabaka.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel at St. Louis under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Inese Zora Elkins

POCAHONTAS — Inese Zora Elkins, 100, passed away Dec. 30, 2008, at Randolph Home.

She was born April 26, 1908, at Pollard to the late Arthur and Ethel Bearden.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Fernimen and Raymond Elkins; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila King of Fender; two grandchildren, Shawn King and Samantha Taylor, both of Pocahontas; four great-grandchildren, Destiny King, Sidney King, Zachary Taylor and Harley Kincade, all of Pocahontas; and one sister, Audine Lane of Piggott.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Myrtle Cemetery with Darrell Fears officiating.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the chapel.

Andrew Gary Latanich

JONESBORO — Andrew Gary Latanich, 25, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Andrew was born Jan. 10, 1983, at Jonesboro to Gary and Rosemary Latanich. He worked at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Jonesboro. Mr. Latanich was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 2001 and from Arkansas State University in 2005 with a B.A. in English. Andrew enjoyed painting, literature and music.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Rosemary Latanich of Jonesboro; a brother, Christian Latanich of Jonesboro; three sisters, Rachel Latanich and Sarah Latanich of Baltimore, and Rebekah Latanich of Cincinnati; his grandparents, Petronelo and Mary Barajas of Childress, Texas, and Helen Latanich of Cleveland; as well as his girlfriend, Marissa Sadler of Jonesboro.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Andrew Latanich.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Christian Latanich, Phillip Kifer, Zac Baker, Zach Harris, Bryce Cook, Charlie Gorman, Michael Land and Paul Gibbs.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:30 p.m. followed by a Scripture service and rosary at 7:30 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 614 South Church St., Jonesboro.

Donations can be made in Andrew’s name to the Foundation of Arts, 115 East Monroe Ave., Jonesboro, 935-2726.

Marshall A. Priest

Dec. 17, 1953-Dec. 26, 2008

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Marshall Priest of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away Dec. 26, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center after an illness. He was 55.

Marshall was born Dec. 17, 1953, at Wichita Falls, Texas, to Henry and Mikie Lou Coates. He spent his childhood in Paragould and graduated from Jonesboro High School.

Marshall entered in service with the U.S. Army in 1973 and, during his military career, he traveled to 38 countries and 48 states. He was an Army security agent and was honorably discharged in 1980.

He was married to Constance Lewis, who preceded him in death.

Marshall previously lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., before moving to Grand Junction five years ago. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed traveling, horseback riding, golf, photography and researching on the computer.

Marshall leaves behind his mother, Mikie Lou Coates of Paragould; four brothers, Thomas (Kim) Priest of Jonesboro, Alan (Becky) Priest of San Diego, Charles Priest of Jonesboro and Mark (Carol) Coates of Paragould; and a sister, Ann (Stan) Bryant of Paragould.

Marshall was preceded in death by his father, Henry Priest; a sister, Rhonda Moore; and beloved stepfather, Joe Coates.

A memorial service is planned for spring 2009.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1205 South Madison St., Jonesboro 72401.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction.

Clyde B. Simmons

May 13, 1918-Dec. 29, 2008

SMITHVILLE — Clyde B. Simmons, 90, of Smithville died Monday at Cave City Nursing Home.

He was born at Cave City to Charlie and Lizzie Girtman Simmons and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his sons, Clyde D. Simmons of Lavaca, Donald Wayne Simmons of Cave City and Dwight A. Simmons of Smithville; sisters, Iola McMillan of Mart, Texas, and Nina Simpson of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Cave City Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 p.m.

Alton Tounsand

JONESBORO — Alton Tounsand, 61, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.

He was born in Jonesboro on March 18, 1947, to Ira and Lela Tounsand. Mr. Tounsand worked for Best Diversified Products. He was retired from the U.S. Army and National Guard Reserves with 32 years of service. He was a member of North Main Baptist Church and loved hunting, fishing and camping.

He leaves behind his wife, Toni Jo Tounsand of the home; a daughter, Jody Tounsand of Jonesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Toby “Al” and Genna Toun-sand of Jonesboro; three brothers, Arthur Townsand of Ravenden, Jeff Townsand of Brookland and Eugene Tounsand of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Dawn Tounsand and Hope Tounsand, both of Jonesboro .

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Friday in Lorado Cemetery, beginning at 2 p.m., with Allen Elkins officiating. Visitation will be held Friday before the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Toby “Al” Tounsand, Tony Eldridge, Jeff Townsand, David Sprinkle, Earl Addison and John Layman.

Johnnie Victor Willis Sr.

BLYTHEVILLE — Johnnie Victor Willis Sr., 74, of Blythe-ville died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Ora Willis; one son; two daughters; one brother; one sister; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Blytheville, with burial in Memory Garden Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at Wilson’s Blytheville Funeral Home.

Bernard L. Aronoff

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Bernard L. Aronoff, 75, of Cherokee Village died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Fulton County Hospital.

Bernard was born May 23, 1933, at San Bernadino, Calif., the son of Morton and Freida Aronoff. He was a Navy veteran and, after moving to Cherokee Village, owned Custom Fitt Upholstery.

Survivors include six children, 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Aronoff; first wife, Sharon Aronoff; and nephew, Randy Aronoff.

A memorial service will be today at 4 p.m. in Tri-County’s Highland Funeral Home.

Imogene Bagwell

Sept. 30, 1923-Jan. 8, 2009

NEWPORT — Imogene Bagwell, 85, of Newport died Thursday.

She was born at Shoffner, the daughter of Elmer Sr. and Corneia Bagwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Elmer Bagwell Jr.

Survivors include her sister, Janice Ivy and husband Gene of Newport; niece, Terri Ivy Ramsey of Newport; three nephews, Steve Ivy of Pocahontas, Rick Bagwell and Jay Preston Bagwell, both of Tupelo; five great-nieces; two great-nephews; and three great-great-nieces.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sandhill Cemetery with arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
