Mary Wagnon

POCAHONTAS — Ms. Mary Wagnon, 82, of Pocahontas, a former resident of Blytheville, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas.

She leaves her sister, Jean Layton (Buddy) of Pocahontas; nephews, Jack Wagnon Sr. of Winona, Minn., and Criss Layton of Pocahontas; nieces, Margie Whittier of Little Rock and Yvonda Layton of Pocahontas; and special friend, Margie Bevill of Blytheville.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Blytheville.

A rosary will be held this evening at 6 in Cobb Funeral Home at Blythe­ville with visitation from 6:30-8 p.m.

Martha Aletta Webb

FLORAL — Mrs. Martha Aletta Webb, 73, of Floral died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2008.

She is survived by three sons, Dewayne Hooker, Tony Hooker and Justin Webb; five daughters, Leta Stokes, Lisa Sneed, Sherry Godoy, JoAnn Webb and Betty Reeves; four sisters; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Bobby Fletcher Wood

JONESBORO — Bobby Fletcher Wood, 67, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Born near Morrilton, Bobby lived in California before moving to Jonesboro 30 years ago. He worked several places in Jonesboro, including tea­ching school, Dealers Service of Arkansas and Quality Gladiolus before retiring from St. Bernards Medical Center as a certified nursing assistant.

Bobby was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Jonesboro and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Leslie Wood of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Chrystal Black of Niles, Mich., and Rob Wood of Arizona; two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Walkden and Kari and Jason Witte, all of Niles, Mich.; his mother, Dee Smith of Jonesboro; a sister, Gayle Vickers of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren, Samantha Husband, Corey Marsh and Cody Marsh.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brad Robinson officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be held this evening from 5-7 in Emerson Funeral Home.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to St. Bernards Hospice, 2813 Forest Home Road, Jonesboro 72401.

Coy Andrew Anderson

PARAGOULD — Coy Anderson, 93, of Paragould died Friday, Jan. 16, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at Paragould.

Anderson was retired from General Motors and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late William Van and Mary Kathren Thompson Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Jolly; and brothers, Cloyd, Onie and Bill Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Anderson of the home; sons, Donald Anderson of Flint, Mich., Lyman Earl Anderson of Piggott and Dennis Anderson of Paragould; sister, Ailene Goff of Benton Harbor, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 tonight in Heath Funeral Home.

His life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday in Heath Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

James A. Bailey

BROOKLAND — James Alford Bailey, 84, of Brookland, formerly of Blythe-ville, died Friday, Jan. 16, at Northeast Arkansas Baptist Hospital at Jonesboro.

Born at De Queen to the late Yemma A. and Rosie Lee Thompson Bailey, he was a decorated World War II Navy veteran, having fought in many of the historic Pacific battles, including Iwo Jima. He was a retired automotive mechanic, having worked for Bob Sullivan Chevrolet for 21 years and Scotty’s Truck Stop for 26 years.

Mr. Bailey lived in Blythe-ville most of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ocie Marie Bailey.

Survivors include seven children, Sandra Blair of Jonesboro, James P. Bailey of Brookland, Richard Bailey of Phoenix, Theresa McKinney of Gosnell, Richard Norman of Carbondale, Ill., Steve Norman of Girard, Ill., and Bill Norman of Springfield, Ill.; his brother, D.L. Bailey of Jonesboro; his sister, Lillie Bailey Salmons of Blytheville; four grandchildren, Maggie Sullivan and Season Pankey, both of Jonesboro, and DeShawna Duke and Brittany Gibson, both of Gosnell; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Pankey, both of Jonesboro, and Randy Morris of Gosnell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with the Rev. Terry Brasfield officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 in the funeral home.

Kenneth Bratten

JONESBORO — Kenneth “Buster” Bratten, 95, of Jonesboro died Friday night, Jan. 16, at St. Elizabeth’s Place.

He was born May 12, 1913, at Tuckerman and moved to Monette as a teen-ager. He married Lola Sue Powell in 1934.

He was a World War II Army veteran. After the war was over, he opened the Caraway Cleaners and moved there with his family. He operated the cleaners the remainder of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s.

He moved to Jonesboro in 1969 and worked for auto dealerships until 1977, when he retired. He and Mrs. Bratten moved to Hardy for 13 years and then to Walnut Ridge until entering the nursing home.

Mr. Bratten had many friends and family over the years. He was the last living merchant of the downtown Caraway area from his era, and a 50-year member of the Caraway Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ollie Bratten of Hardy, and Jim and Ruth Bratten of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lola Sue Bratten; brothers, John Bratten, Matt Bratten and Jim Bratten; and sisters, Drew Ludwig and Sally Swink.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rick Stevens officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Monday from noon-1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Freda Jane Sims Cooper

BLYTHEVILLE — Freda Jane Sims Cooper, 53, died at her Blytheville home Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, of natural causes.

Born at Lepanto on July 22, 1955, to Arvil and Ruby Sims, she was a graduate of Rivercrest High School and recently retired from the offices of United Way in Memphis.

A longtime resident of the Mississippi County area, she leaves many friends and relatives.

Her surviving family include sisters, Glenda (Earl) Jackson of Manila and Shirley (John) Allen of Monticello, Ga.; eight nieces; two nephews; and her niece and closest friend, Melinda Gonzales of Blytheville.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. in Murphy Funeral Home at Lepanto.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Greg Delancey officiating. Burial will follow in Potter Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.

Doris Ann Crawford

HARRISBURG — Doris Ann West Crawford, 52, of Harrisburg departed this life Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 14, 1956, at Harrisburg.

Doris was of the Pentecostal belief. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, puzzles, collecting recipes and cooking.

She is survived by parents, Carl and Sadie West; daughter, Aimee Crawford; and brother, Kenny West, all of Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bolivar Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in Jackson’s Funeral Home.

Robert O. Flowers

TULSA, Okla. — Robert “Bobby” O. Flowers, 49, of Tulsa died Wednesday, Jan. 14, at St. Francis Hospital at Tulsa.

Bobby was a mechanic and welder.

He is survived by his parents, Norman and Mary Thomason Flowers of Cherokee Village; sisters, Kathy Easley of Duluth, Ga., and Sheryl Lee Westenfelder of Port Orchard, Wash.; and paternal grandmother, Francis George of Ash Flat.

He was preceded in death by a baby sister, Juli Ann Flowers.

Memorial service will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Jim Thompson officiating under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Highland.
