Jay Brooks
CARSON LAKE — Jay Brooks, 16, of Carson Lake entered into rest Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
He was born March 19, 1992, at Osceola. Jay was a student at Osceola Communication Arts and Business School at Osceola. He was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson.
He is survived by his mother, Vickie Brooks of Carson Lake; maternal grandparents, Ronny and Dixie Goble of Carson Lake; uncles and aunt, Ronnie and Barbara Cox, Bryan Brooks and Hank Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randall J. Brooks.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today in Roller Swift Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens with Kevin Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will include Steve McWilliams, Robert Walker, Freddie Smith, Harold Norvell, Mike Mangrum and Dino Pirani.

Joe Finney
MAMMOTH SPRING — Joe “Butch” Finney, 61, of Mammoth Spring died Thursday, March 12, 2009.
He was born Aug. 27, 1947, at Walnut Ridge to the late Joe and Pearl Finney.
Survivors include his children, Randy Finney of Mishawaka, Ind., and Kelly Finney of Mammoth Spring; siblings, Jerry Finney, Tim Black, Carolyn Cowen, Nancy Taylor, Donna Allen, Sandra Finney and Janey Lambert; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Tri-County Highland Funeral Home with visitation from 1 until service time.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Lorado Cemetery
at Fontaine.
Brenda Hazelwood
JONESBORO — Brenda Kay Hunter Hazelwood, 43, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of Jonesboro, Brenda was an employee of Ed’s Catfish Restaurant at Jonesboro.
Survivors include two daughters, Page Hunter and Crystal Hazelwood, both of Jonesboro; son, Matthew Hazelwood of the home; parents, Bobby and Helen Hunter of Jonesboro; two sisters, Judy Lock and Linda Clark, both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Andrew Hunter and Tommy Hunter, both of Jonesboro; two half brothers, Donald Henry and Michael Henry, both of Jonesboro; and granddaughter, Dakota Taylor of Jonesboro.
Graveside funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Pine Log Cemetery
with Carolyn Passmore and Martin Passmore officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in Emerson Funeral Home.
Randall Holder
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Randall Holder, 92, of Florida, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Orchard Ridge Nursing and Rehab at New Port Richey.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Higginbotham Funeral Service of Walnut Ridge.
Freeda Jenkins
CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Freeda B. Jenkins, 82, of Cherokee Village died Wednesday, March 11, at Fulton County Hospital at Salem.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Jenkins of the home; sons, Jerry Lewis of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Mark Lewis of Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Freeda Mae Wardrup, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be in Heath Highland Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel, at 10 a.m. Saturday with Tim Turner officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens at Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.
Terry O’Neal McClung
JONESBORO — Terry O’Neal McClung, 45, of Jonesboro, formerly of Blytheville, died early Thursday, March 12, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was a retired food service manager and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by three sisters, Nancy Jean Davis, Betty Ruth Kisman and Theresa Dawn Higgins; three brothers, Robert Troy McClung, Randy Ray McClung and Christopher Drake (Duck) McClung; and a goddaughter, Courtney Rashae McClung of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Carney Funeral Home Chapel at Blytheville with visitation from 1:30 until time for the service.
Glenda L. Ruffin
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Glenda L. Ruffin, 54, of Nashville, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Ruffin; grandson, Joey; parents, Charles and Bernice Thompson; and brother, Kevin Thompson.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in the Mount Olivet Funeral Home at Nashville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

James Alvin Sanders
PARAGOULD — James Alvin Sanders, 61, of Paragould died Monday, March 9, at his residence.
Born Nov. 10, 1947, at Jasper, Ala., he was a tree trimmer.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Alma Turner of Paragould; one son, James Eric Sanders; one daughter, Mary Lorene Sanders, both of Luxora; and two sisters, Mary Louise Emerline of Rector and Alma Jean Perry of Paragould. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Charlotte Ann Smith
RECTOR — Charlotte Smith, 62, of Rector passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born June 4, 1946, to U.C. “Jettie” and Dovie Rhynes Brewer at Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Colette Beck; and one sister, Nelle Glasgow.
Charlotte is survived by one son, Jake Smith of Piggott; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Patrick Nordmeyer, and Summer and Jeff Wolfenbarger, all of Rector; three sisters, Sharon Raab, Mary Heath and Sandra Brewer, all of California; five grandchildren, Briana Nordmeyer, Jenny Shultz, River Rice, Raven Rice and Madison Wolfenbarger; and two great-grandchildren, Aliya Shultz and Andrew Shultz.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Irby Funeral Home of Rector with Marston Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. before services in the chapel.
Alan Woods
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Alan Woods, 34, of Southaven died Tuesday, March 10.
He was born March 6, 1975, at Memphis.
His grandfathers, William Woods and M.Y. Carlew, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanie McCollum of Southaven; grandmothers, Pauline Carlew of Wynne and Brooksie Woods of Southaven; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in Wynne Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Balch-Johnston Cemetery

Jimmy Arnold
CORNING — Jimmy Arnold, 81, of Corning died Friday, March 20, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.
He was united in marriage May 16, 1946, to Laverne “Tix” Pond Arnold. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2005.
His parents, Walter and Georgie Arnold; son, Steve Arnold; and grandson, Nicholas Johnson, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Vickie (Al) Johnson of Barrington, Ill; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Johnson.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church at Corning.
Services will follow at 11 with Bill Klahn and Al Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.
Beverly Ashby
PROMISE LAND — Beverly Kay Ashby, 49, of Promise Land community died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1959, at Hayti, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Little Walter Ashby Jr. of Promise Land; children, Serena Ashley of Osceola, Villie Hernadez of Lulu, Ga., Patrick Potts of Jonesboro and Daniel Ashby of Blytheville; mother, Elma Trammel of Batesville; one sister; six brothers; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m Sunday in Wilson’s Blytheville Funeral Home with burial in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 before services.
