Velma Gail Gilkison

PIGGOTT — Velma Gail Gilkison, 57, of Piggott passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Jonesboro.

Survivors include six children, Chris Gilkison, Joey Gilkison, Stephen Gilkison, Jeremy Gilkison, Patricia Crawford and Ashley Williams; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, James Jones, H.C. Brothers, Robert Jones and John Jones; and two sisters, Mandy Roush and Bertha Howe.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway with Hoggard & Sons of Piggott in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 6 tonight.

Norma Lee McEuin

TUCKERMAN — Norma Lee (Malone) McEuin, 83, of Tuckerman died Sunday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny McEuin, three brothers, three sisters, and her parents.

Mrs. McEuin is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Prather, and husband Ronnie of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Emma Nance of Monroe, La., and Faye Smith of Tuckerman; one granddaughter, Lisa Hendrix, and husband Jeff of Bella Vista; and two great-granddaughters, Reagan and Ryan Hendrix.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Marion Peifer

JONESBORO — Marion P. Peifer, 91, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Skill Care Nursing Home in Jonesboro.

Mr. Peifer was born Nov. 22, 1918, at Harrisburg to Marion and Lela Peifer. He lived in Harrisburg most of his life. Mr. Peifer was a janitor while living in Harrisburg.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Jonesboro. Larry F. Green of Mountain Home will lead the service. Friends and extended family are welcome to the service. Arrangements are with Jackson’s Funeral Home.

Ruby Seamons

POCAHONTAS — Ruby Pauline Seamons, 89, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010.

She was born Aug. 27, 1920, at Randolph County to the late Jasper and Mary Wheeler Persful.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Seamons; sons, Bill and Max Seamons; grandson, Kim Reed; brothers, David and Warren Persful; sister, Marie Persful; and son-in-law, Neil Reed Jr.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. James Ray (Bobbye Reed) Martin and Mrs. Harry Fuzz (Mary Jo) Kirksey; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Emmett Persful; and a sister, Reba McGlothlin.

Mrs. Seamons had worked at Brown Shoe Co. for 17 years, owned and operated Polly’s Cafe at the “Y” of Arkansas 67 and U.S. 62 in Pocahontas for several years and also worked at the Sale Barn Cafe. She was a member of Sutton Free Will Baptist Church and chairman of the Sutton Cemetery Board.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Sutton Cemetery Fund.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sutton Free Will Baptist Church with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Sutton Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel.

Imogene Shepard

CORNING — Imogene Shephard, 80, of Corning died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock.

Mrs. Shephard was an insurance agent and a member of First Baptist Church in Corning.

In June 1947 she was united in marriage to Van Shephard, who survives her.

Other survivors include daughter-in-law, Beverly (Robert) Allen of Little Rock, and cousin, Lynden Kamerman of Corning.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. today at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.

Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Corning Cemetery with Blue Hothouse officiating. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery.

Patsy Marveen Swindle

HOT SPRINGS — Patsy Marveen Looney Swindle of Hot Springs, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Sunday March 21, 2010, at her home. She was 84.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Celebrants will be the Rev. Michael Sinkler and Marlin Tate, deacon. Interment will follow in Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Complete arrangements will be announced later by Higginbotham Funeral Service, 401 West Main St., Walnut Ridge.

David Allen Talbot

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. — David Allen Talbot, 57, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Friday, March 19, 2010, at his home.

Born June 15, 1952, at Trumann, he was the son of the late James Allen and Juanita Terry Talbot.

David had a successful career with the Department of Veterans Affairs. He started as a project engineer and transferred to the VA in the Bronx, N.Y., as the assistant chief, engineering. He was the former chief engineer at the VA Medical Centers in Martinsburg, W.Va., Pittsburgh and Huntington, W.Va.

David also was the assistant engineer at the VA Regional Office at Fort Howard, Md. He was working in the office of facilities over various programs at the VA Central Office, Washington, D.C. David also farmed in Trumann, Mississippi and Saudi Arabia.

David was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Germaine E. Mulvey Talbot, and his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Bridget Moiria Talbot; his brother, Robert Talbot of Jonesboro; his sister, Becky Lagrone and husband Jimmy of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Hedgesville, W.Va., with the Rev. George Pucciarelli as celebrant. Interment will be private.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 West King St., Martinsburg 25401

Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, 510 Butler Ave., Martinsburg 25405.

Alvin Annis

PARKIN — Alvin Annis, 76, of Parkin departed this life Saturday, April 24, in West Memphis.

He was born Nov. 3, 1933, at Tyronza to Robert and Reba Paris Annis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clorene, three brothers and one sister.

Alvin is survived by his wife, JoAnn Annis; brother, Charles Annis; one stepson; one stepdaughter; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Parkin First Baptist Church with interment following in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. today in Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home.

Rebecca ‘Becky’ Brady

WALNUT RIDGE — Rebecca “Becky” Brady, 76, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be anounced later by Bryan Funeral Home.

Edward Burton II

NEWPORT — Edward Thomas Burton II of Newport died Tuesday, April 20.

Born Jan. 6, 1941, at McCrory, Mr. Burton was a musician and leader of the Imperials. He was a retired drug and alcohol counselor, having worked at Greenleaf Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Thomas Burton Sr. and Mary Woodrow Matthews Burton.

He is survived by several children; his wife, Cathy Burton; and one brother, John Burton.

Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fakes Cemetery at McCrory.

Arrangements are by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Gladys Henson

PIGGOTT — Gladys Henson, 98, of Piggott passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010.

She was born April 13, 1912, at Senath, Mo., and was the daughter of the late Tom and Samantha Ray.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennie Claus and husband Richard of Piggott; son, Bill Kimbrel of Piggott; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday in Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Charles Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday.
