Eric Trace Marshall

SILOAM SPRINGS — Eric Trace Marshall, 18, of Siloam Springs died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

Born May 18, 1992, at Jonesboro, he was the son of David Doucey and Glenda Sue Marshall Doucey. He moved from Farmington six years ago and was a 2010 graduate of Siloam Springs High School. Eric was a member of the Siloam Springs High School Future Business Leaders of America and the Debate Team. Earlier this year he received his certification as a Web designer.

Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ricarda Mary Marshall.

Survivors include his parents, David and Susie Doucey of Siloam Springs; maternal grandparent, Tommy Marshall of Lake City, and paternal grandparents, Rickey and Brenda Doucey of White Hall; his maternal great-grandmother, Aurora Trinidad of Walnut Ridge; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Wasson Memorial Chapel at Siloam Springs with Pastor Norman Smith officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Ben R. Scott

POCAHONTAS — Ben R. Scott, 86, of Pocahontas passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at his home.

Scott was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Mountain Grove, Mo., the son of George and Oma Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ina Edwards, Bessie Vandivort and Agnes Smith; and one brother, Adam Scott.

Scott was a member of Sutton Free Will Baptist Church in Pocahontas. He was a lifelong Free Will Baptist minister, serving as full-time pastor for more than 50 years. His early pastorates were in Oklahoma and Missouri. In Arkansas he pastored First Free Will Baptist Church in Pocahontas, First Free Will Baptist Church in Jonesboro and, for 24 years, the First Free Will Baptist Church in North Little Rock. In semi-retirement he served as interim pastor for First Free Will Baptist Church in Myrtle, Mo., United Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge and First Free Will Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Genelle Smith Scott; three sons and their wives, Randy and Debbie Scott of Pocahontas, Fred and Terry Scott of Garner, N.C., and Len and Aimee Scott of Clarksville, Tenn. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jason Scott, Amy (David) Carson, Bethany (Josh) Owens, Kailey Scott, Kaitlen Scott, Benjamin Scott and Claiborne Scott; and two great-granddaughters, Lauryn and Annalyn Carson. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Halliburton, Daisey Lindsey and Leah Postlewaite.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church in Pocahontas. Pastors Randy, Fred, Len and Jason Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in Sutton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the building fund at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church or the Arkansas Free Will Baptist’s Acts 1:8 Missions Fund.

Mancefield Barrow

PARAGOULD — Mancefield Barrow, 93, of Paragould died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Claiborne Hughes Health Center in Franklin, Tenn.

He was born July 8, 1916, the son of the late Monte and Kate Elizabeth Clements Barrow. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Phillip Barrow; wife, Alverda Gibson Barrow; half brother, Charles Northen; and son-in-law, Raleigh Hinton Lanier Jr.

Mr. Barrow was a graduate of Arkansas State College and the University of Wisconsin.

He retired as an agriculture chemical salesman for Hercules Inc. and was a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps as an air-sea rescue pilot during World War II. He was recipient of two Bronze Stars and the French Air Medal.

He is survived by his daughters, Paula Lanier of Franklin and Kathryn Driskill of Clarksville, Tenn.; sister, Bernita Barrow, formerly of Paragould, now of Memphis; brother, M. Joe Barrow of Memphis; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:50 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home. Family and friends will leave in procession at 1:50 from the funeral home for a 2 p.m. graveside service, with military honor guard, in Linwood Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Sutton officiating.

Memorials may be made to Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church, 524 East Court St., Paragould 27450.

Clifton Boyce Bateman

APOPKA, Fla. — Boyce Bateman, 80 of Apopka, formerly of Rector, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

He was born Sept. 22, 1929, to the late Cecil and Dolphia McLeskey Bateman in the Clay County area. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years; in fact, he taught until the last four months. He was a farmer in the Boydsville area for many years.

Boyce is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Vaught Bateman; his children, Alonn McCord of Apopka, Lon Edward Bateman of Jonesboro and Charlie and Meridith Bateman of Texarkana, Ark.; five grandchildren, Kelly Parish of Jacksonville, Fla., Bree Walker of Memphis, Caleb Bateman, Spencer Bateman and Austin Bateman, all of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and McKenzie Parish; one great-great-grandson, Piersyn Parish; a brother, Onis Bateman of Ellendale, Tenn.; and a sister, Euvila and James Brewer of Senatobia, Miss.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Irby Funeral Home at Rector with Kenny Burns officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 6 tonight in the funeral home.

Bill Beshiers

JONESBORO — Bill Be-shiers, 81, of rural Jonesboro died Friday, May 21, 2010, at his home.

He had lived in Jonesboro since 1979, moving here from Farrville, and was a member of the Brookland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Beshiers; one son, Tim Beshiers; and sister, Dorothy Beshiers.

Survivors include sons, Kenny Beshiers and Jerry Beshiers; one daughter, Tanyuia Wade, all of Farrville; sister, Velma Markum of Thida; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

All services will be private with the Rev. Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary A. Blandina

ST. LOUIS — Mary A. Blandina, née Peters, was baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection on Friday, May 21, 2010.

She was the beloved wife of Vincent J. Blandina Sr.; dear mother and mother-in-law of Vincent “Jim” (Stephanie) Blandina Jr., Alice (Ed) Kerry, Don Blandina, Diana (Courtney) Walter and Debbie (Tim) Schwartz; dear sister of Katherine Brunner, Theresa Schaechtel, Frances Camp, J.C. Peters and the late Martin Peters; dear grandmother of 13; great-grandmother of 13; sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., St. Louis 63141.

Mass of the resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Richard Church, with interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Foundation are appreciated.

David William Bullard

MINTURN — David William Bullard, 49, of Minturn passed away Friday, May 21, 2010.

Born Nov. 29, 1960, at Walnut Ridge, the son of the late Albert Elton and Elizabeth White Bullard, he was a farmer and of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Brenda of the home; a son, Matt Bullard of Minturn; a daughter, Maegan and husband Blake Boyd of Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Connie Kissee of Walnut Ridge and Nancy Eades of Clover Bend; two brothers, Dennis and Noel Bullard, both of Minturn; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lawrence Memorial Park with Robert Davis officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joe Wilson, Tracey Henson, Barry Raby, Alan Williams, Ray Volner and Barry Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Morgan, Kenneth Gosha and Darrell Woods.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to any children’s charity.

Patsy Hartsell

TUCKERMAN — Patsy Adams Hartsell, 47, of Tuckerman died Friday, May 21.

Survivors include her husband, David Hartsell Sr.; son, David Hartsell “D.J.” Jr.; daughter, Heather Tims and husband Jason; five brothers, Loyd Adams Jr., Donnie Adams, Terry Adams, Wesley Adams and David Adams; three sisters, Mary Jane Whitlock, Janet Cain and Tressia Emerson; and four grandchildren, Christian Tims, Aidian Tims, Noah Tims and Jayden Tims.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday in the Tuckerman Family Worship Center. Interment will be in Dowell’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-8 tonight. Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Jason Hobbs

JONESBORO — Jason Hobbs, 38, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Shields of Jonesboro, and his father, Ezra Hobbs of Greenbriar; one sister and her husband, Dawn and Todd Upshaw of Owasso, Okla.; a niece, Brittany Upshaw, and a nephew, Blaine Upshaw; two brothers, Nicholas Hobbs of Rogers and Shane Hobbs of Conway; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Murry and Elthel Nelson of Rector.

He had worked for the last 14 years in Little Rock at Alltel as a system analyst.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Irby Funeral Home at Rector with Jason Self officiating.

Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
