Geraldine Flossie Amos

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — A graveside memorial service for Geraldine Flossie Duncan Amos, 88, of Rochester Hills, Mich., will be held in Philadelphia Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Amos was born Oct. 28, 1920, at Lake City and passed away in her sleep on Oct. 4, 2009.

She was the daughter of Kelsey and Belle Duncan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Duncan Murrah.

Hubert Boggs

IMBODEN — Hubert Carl Boggs, 78, died Monday in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Boggs; daughters, Sherry Boggs, Sandra Wessell, Karen Hirth and Linda Kelley; sons, Robert and Ken Boggs; brother, Vernon Boggs; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Annieville with Jerry Clements and Paul Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Cleo A. Burton

LA VERNE, Calif. — Longtime Inland Valley banker Cleo Burton, 82, of La Verne, Calif., died Friday, June 25, 2010, in La Verne with his loving wife and daughters by his side.

Cleo was born Nov. 6, 1927, on the Hergett plantation near Jonesboro (then Nettleton).

Cleo was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Gertie, and by his brothers, Alfred and Charles.

Cleo started his banking career at Citizens Bank of Jonesboro in 1947 after attending Jonesboro Business College. He was hired as a bookkeeper to examine checks for proper signature and endorsement, file checks and make customer statements. He took on a teller position at the Bank of Nettleton from 1949-52.

When drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, Cleo was assigned to the Headquarters Company to the Post Finance Office at Fort Ord, Calif., as the chief shipping clerk, who calculated a soldier’s pay before he shipped out to Korea. After his commitment to the Army in 1954, Cleo remained in California, taking a position with the First National Bank, La Verne, and worked there until 1964.

Cleo was contacted in 1964 by an organizing group planning the opening of Inland Bank in Pomona and was appointed vice president for operations of Inland Bank. Inland Bank merged in 1977 with Sumitomo Bank, where Cleo served as vice president-manager of Pomona and then Claremont branches, before advancing to vice president-head auditor of the Southern California division, with a team of 12 auditors, and maintaining offices in both San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Cleo retired from Sumitomo Bank in 1992 after nearly 45 years in the banking industry.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lavena; son, David of Denver; daughters, Teri of Chino, Calif., and Lisa of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; his sisters, Janette of Paragould and Ermal of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Riverside National Cemetery at Riverside, Calif. A celebration of life and reception will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pomona First Baptist Church.

Larry Chester

BLYTHEVILLE — Larry Richard Chester, 55, of Blytheville died Friday, June 25, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born June 21, 1955, at St. Louis to the late Carl Tuner and Thelma Chester.

Survivors include his sisters, Bessie Jones of Helena and Doris Scott of St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Thursday evening at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville.

Services and burial will be Saturday in West Helena.

Henrietta Colley

Oct. 28, 1932-June 26, 2010

BLYTHEVILLE — Henrietta Colley, 77, of Blytheville died Saturday.

Survivors include her daughters, Ruthie Wesley of Elkhart, Ind., Jimmie Davis and Jeanette Colley, both of Chicago; Donna Luster, Annette Moore, Barbara Colley and Betty Madison, all of Blythe-ville; and siblings, Joe Thomas of Luxora, Miller Thomas, Mary Ann Wright and Esther Wright, all of Blytheville; 38 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Friday evening at Wilson Funeral Home with services at 3 p.m. Saturday in New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and burial in Memory Gardens.

Charlotte Rae Faulkner

BEECH GROVE — Charlotte Rae Faulkner, 63, of Beech Grove died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at her residence.

She was born May 22, 1947, at Paragould. She was preceded in death by her parents, O.A. Blanton and Mozelle Harris Blanton. She was an admissions clerk at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center for 23 years upon retiring.

She is survived by her husband, Rod Faulkner of the home; daughter, Kelle Boozer of Paragould; son, Steve Faulkner of Paragould; sister, Jan Long of Paragould; brothers, Ted Blanton of Paragould and Jerry Blanton of Gamaliel; and five dear grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6-9 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated in Heath Colonial Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Raymond Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Miller, Jimmy Doyle Miller, Joe Pratt, Tommy Justus, Michael Exum and Chuck Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Maple, Mikka Felty, Janet West, Beverly Sonney, Kay Brinkley, Nina Curtis, Bo Baird, Sonny Cupp and David Pratt.

Memorials may be sent to Hope Circle, NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation, 311 Matthews St., Jonesboro 72401.

Gwen Faulkner

BATESVILLE — Gwen Faulkner, 83, of Batesville, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010.

She was born June 24, 1926, at Batesville to the late Virgil and Laura Milligan Anderson.

Survivors include her husband, W.H. “Buck” Faulkner of the home; daughters, Linda Boone of Batesville and Martha Faulkner of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Rocky Boone of Sherwood, Michael Boone of Jacksonville Air Force Base, Alexis Galavis and Natassia Miller, both of Beaumont, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Oaklawn Cemetery with visitation Thursday evening from 6-8 at Qualls Funeral Home.

Crawford E. Holmes

BAY — Crawford E. Holmes, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Leon Johnson

LEPANTO — Leon Johnson, 67, of Lepanto died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1943, at Yazoo, Miss., to the late Joe S. and Aletha Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Johnson of Lepanto; son, Melvin Johnson of Trumann; and siblings, Bertha Coleman, Willie King, Sadie Young, Hazel Johnson, Cleon Johnson, John Johnson, Joe Johnson Jr., Elisha Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Edward Johnson and Kenny Johnson.

Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday at Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home with graveside services following at 11 in Pine Rest Cemetery at Lepanto.

Charles Perkey

CAVE CITY — Charles William “C.W.” Perkey, 82, of Cave City died Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

He was born Sept. 28, 1927, near Hickory Valley, to the late William M. and Ruby Brewer Perkey.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Phillips Perkey; son, Gary Perkey (Cindy) of Batesville; sisters, Marie Turner of Flourissant, Mo., and Emogene Fudge (Robert) of Fairfield Bay; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cave City First United Methodist Church with burial in Cave City Cemetery directed by Qualls Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Thursday evening at the church.

Nellie Bradshaw Perkins

MEMPHIS — Nellie Bradshaw Perkins, 85, of Memphis died Monday, June 28, 2010, at her home.

She had lived in Memphis for 15 years, moving there from Cherokee Village, and was of the Disciples of Christ belief. She was a wonderful and caring mother and wife.

Nell was preceded in death by her father, Granville Bradshaw; mother, Ora Moss; sister, Ann Staley; and brother, William Bradshaw.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ed Perkins of the home; sons, Richard Perkins and wife Vicki of Memphis, and Michael Perkins and wife Linda of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter, Carol Ann Washington of Marion, N.C.; brothers, Oscar Bradshaw of West Helena, Charles Bradshaw of Silsbee, Texas, Walter Bradshaw of Ecru, Miss., and James Bradshaw of Barton; sisters, Nada Jean Chance of Nederland, Texas, and Joan Killian of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Holly, Steve, James, Ronald, Ashley and Kathryn; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Hill Cemetery with Charles Cooper and Jerry Shelton officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 Thursday morning at Emerson Funeral Home.

Carole Traum

FENTON, Mo. — Carole J. “Joyce” Traum, 78, of Fenton, Mo., died Monday, June 28, 2010.

She was born at Black Rock.

Survivors include her longtime companion and special friend, Robert E. Kelly; children, Mary (Lester) Neal, Tony (Carolyn) Ragsdale, Leah West and Ronald Ragsdale; and grandchildren, Mary Kay Barkley, Tammy Horton, Gary, Kimberly, Brian and Kristin West, Ron Ragsdale Jr. and Markis Dunham.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Kutis South County Chapel at St. Louis with burial in St. Matthew Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 4-8.

Memorials are requested to a favorite charity.
