Junior Allmon

CORNING — Junior Allmon, 86, of Corning passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Mr. Allmon was a farmer. He was a past member of the board of Riceland Foods and the Corning school board. He was a member and elder of McDougal Church of Christ.

On July 3, 1942, he was united in marriage to Alene Bridges. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2010.

Survivors include one son, Wayne (Linda) Allmon of McDougal; two grandsons, Brady (Kristi) Allmon of Paragould and Britt (Christal) Allmon of McDougal; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Veronica, Camille and Brent Allmon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Allmon; parents, Everett Allmon Sr. and Rovilla Waddle Allmon; one brother, Joe Allmon; and three sisters, Ina Thomas, Cecil Davis and Juanita Drum.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will follow at 1 at the funeral home, with Johnny Bradshaw officiating.

Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery at McDougal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crowley’s Ridge Academy, 606 Academy Drive, Paragould; or Post Oak Cemetery Fund at McDougal.

William ‘Bill’ Capooth

JONESBORO — William “Bill” Capooth, 77, of Jonesboro died Monday night at his home.

He moved from Blytheville to Jonesboro in 2003 and was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Geneva Hanna, Margaret Arwood and Sue Appling.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Glenda of the home; daughter, Joy Escue and husband Joe of Jonesboro; son, Kasey Capooth and wife Laura of Memphis; sisters, Mary Smith and Barbara Prince, both of Marked Tree; grandchildren, Craig Escue, Grace, Rose and Will Capooth.

Services will be private under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m.-noon today at Emerson Funeral Home. The Pathfinders Sunday School Class from the Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests you please consider the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1910 Disciple Drive in Jonesboro.

Jimmy Joe Chaffin Sr.

TRUMANN — Jimmy Joe Chaffin Sr., 64, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 3, 1946, at Bay to the late John Nathan and Edna Belle Chaffin. Mr. Chaffin served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years during Vietnam. He worked at Roach Conveyors in Trumann as a supervisor for over 34 years.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Wednesday Night Patch Club, and the Saturday morning breakfast group.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Chaffin; three sons and their wives, Mark and Cecilia Stanley of Lake City, Billy and Kristie Stanley of Bay and Jimmy J. and Candice Chaffin Jr. of Trumann; two sisters, Betty Gardner and Sandra McMahon, both of Jonesboro; a brother, Roger Stephens of Norfork; and six grandchildren, Aaron Stanley, Casey Stanley, Cole Chaffin, Ethan Chaffin, Samantha Stanley and Courtney Stanley.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Murlene McDaniel, and two brothers, Junior Chaffin and Vance Chaffin.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann with Austin Missey officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to offset medical expenses.

Delores M. Coffman

KANSAS CITY — Delores M. Coffman, 80, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Bono, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Honquest Funeral Home in Loves Park, Ill. Funeral services will be at 11 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Delores was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Chicago and lived in Rockford, Ill., until 1973. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bono. Delores retired from Riceland Foods in 1993 after 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Bill” Coffman; daughters, Sandra Jo Taylor, Mary “Kathy” Franzen and Linda Peckham; brother, Leroy “Curly” Johnson; sister, Shirley Bonavia; granddaughter, Rebecca Peckham; great-grandson, Terry Keehn III; and son-in-law, Richard Alvarado.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Brandy and Skip Dammen of Kansas City, Debra and Ed Wynn of Machesney Park, Ill., Barbara and Roger Cambron of Bono, Jeanie Alvarado of Helotes, Texas, and Cindy and Stan May of Bono; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Maria Coffman of Bono; brothers, Ralph Johnson of Eminence, Mo., and Bill Johnson of Rolla, Mo.; sisters, Marilyn Wood of Loves Park and Margaret Stelma of Rockford; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Erma Davis

FORREST CITY — Funeral services for 59-year-old Erma Jean Collins Davis of Forrest City, formerly of Wynne, who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Crestpark of Forrest City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Tabernacle of Faith Church at Wynne. Burial will follow in Hare Farm Cemetery at Levesque.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel at Wynne.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Davis Sr. of Wynne; sons, Antonio Collins of Forrest City, Bobby Davis Jr. and Michael Davis, both of Little Rock; daughters, Gwendolyn Scott and Toinette Collins, both of Forrest City, Latasha Collins of West Memphis and Nickie Davis of Hot Springs; brother, James Collins of McCrory; sisters, Betty Winfrey, Ethel Collins and Melvine Jett, all of Wynne, and Joyce Word of Little Rock; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Varie Hickman

MANILA — Mrs. Varie Mildred Hickman, 86, of Manila died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Manila Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1924, at Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dora Cook Collins. Mrs. Hickman was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Manila. She loved to read the Bible, sing, and she enjoyed country music.

Survivors include four sons, Bill Hutchins and wife Cindy of Palmer, Alaska, Duey Hickman of Manila, Jesse Hickman and wife Lora of Tampa, Fla., and Robert Hickman of Manila; and four daughters, Geralyn Myers and husband Raymond of Golden, Colo., Betty Smithee of Manila, Judy Dukes of Tampa and Mellisa Amlong and husband Anthony of Red Oak, Texas. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hickman was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Hickman; two sons, Jimmy and William Hickman; four brothers, James Collins, Bill Collins, M.C. Collins and J.C. Collins; and one sister, Lillian Holcomb.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Faith Funeral Service in Manila with the Rev. David Fair officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Edith Hutchison

APPLETON, Wis. — Edith Fay Hutchison, 82, of Appleton, Wis., formerly of Evening Shade, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

She was born Aug. 17, 1928, at Evening Shade to Arthur and Mary Francis Dial Stroud.

Preceding her were her parents; husband, Harold Hutchison; daughter, Mary Patricia Hutchison; six brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include daughter, Linda (Lynn) Braatz of Appleton; granddaughters, Lynette Michael and Lorie Downs; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Qualls Cave City Funeral Home with burial in Evening Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time.

Martha Jane Johnson

JONESBORO — Martha Jane Coffey Johnson, 87, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab.

She was born in Independence County but had lived in Jonesboro since childhood. She was a retired travel agent and was a member of Greensboro Road Church of Christ. She had traveled all over the world and loved fishing and camping. She was also a member of the Altrusa Club, Jonesboro Business and Professional Women and the Democrat Club.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Eva Coffey; her sister, Ruby Coffey, all of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; and three step-daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, O.C. Johnson; her parents, John and Ethel Kendrick Coffey; her brothers, Edgar Coffey, Leslie Coffey, Elmer Coffey, J.W. Coffey and Edward Coffey; and her sisters, Irene Henry and Lorene Owens.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Joe Kee and Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wardell Lewis

KENOSHA, Wis. — Ms. Wardell Lewis, 74, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of Luxora, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010.

She was born Dec. 16, 1937, at Luxora to the late Milton and Hassie Stevenson Lewis.

Survivors include her son, James Curtis Lewis of Blytheville; sisters, Elvada Lewis of St. Louis and Berdle Lewis of Luxora; brother, Milton Lewis Jr. of Blytheville; 12, grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Calvin Waites of Kenosha.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wilson’s Blytheville Funeral Home with services at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial in Sandy Ridge Cemetery at Burdette.

Herbert Locke Jr.

CORNING — Herbert Locke Jr., 75, of Corning died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Locke; three daughters, Sheila Bauschlicher, Rene Siebert and Jeanette Grissom; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Irby Funeral Home in Piggott. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard.
