William Arley Myers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — William Arley Myers, 51, a native of Jonesboro, and longtime Brooklyn, N.Y., resident, a graphic artist and Web designer and longtime Yankees fan, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, in Chicago.

Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Antioch College and a master of fine arts from University of North Texas.

He was the beloved husband of 21 years to Kate Zrenner Myers; adoring father of William Donnellan Myers, also known as “Joe;” dear brother of Patricia (William) Keel of Shreveport, La.; loving son-in-law of Eileen Donnellan Zrenner of Grand Beach, Mich.; son of the late William and Naoma Myers of Jonesboro; fond brother-in-law, uncle and friend of many, especially those within the Internet relay chat (IRC) online communities LowTech and NewsGarden, who knew him by his IRC handle “Piv.”

Memorial services will be at noon Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 621 West Belmont Ave., Chicago (parking pay lot on Broadway).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a tax-free trust for William Donnellan Myers in care of New Buffalo Savings Bank, 45 North Whittaker St., New Buffalo, Mich. 46360.

Everett Radcliff

JONESBORO — Everett Radcliff, 76, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at home.

Arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Margie Sellers

NEWPORT — Margie Williams Sellers, 78, of Newport died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.

Mrs. Sellers is survived by five sons, Ricky Williams of Newport, John Williams of Fort Worth, Texas, Mitchell Williams of Newport, Roger Williams of Searcy and Steve Williams of Fort Worth; two daughters, JoAnn Williams Everett of Newport and Teresa Moss of Caruthersville, Mo.; siblings; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Watson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Dorothy H. Sharp

JONESBORO — Dorothy H. Sharp, 83, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Staton Sharp.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Edward Morris Simmons

JONESBORO — Edward M. Simmons, 84, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at St. Bernard Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Alyce Watkins

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Alyce Ann Watkins, 79, of Cherokee Village died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

She was born Aug. 8, 1931, at Graham, Texas, to Wilber and Annie Wortham Colwell.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Frank Watkins, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynda (Douglas) Finfrock of Lafayette, La., and Sherry (Don) Downum of Ash Flat; four grandchildren, Heath and Brandon Finfrock, and Steven and Justin Downum; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Tri-County Funeral Home chapel in Highland. No service is planned.

Pat Westbrook

JONESBORO — Pat Westbrook, 75, of Jonesboro, formerly Patricia Hearn of Blytheville, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

She moved to Jonesboro in 1956 from Blytheville and was a member of the First Baptist Church and active in missions. She was also a member of Sigma Phi sorority and the Adult Six Sunday School Class at First Baptist.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Westbrook; parents, Thelma and Jerry L. Hearn; and brother, Larry Hearn.

Survivors include daughters, Patricia Knowles and husband Ed of Macon, Mo., and Sharon Bostic and husband Sam of Jacksonville; sons, James T. Westbrook and his fiance, Vicki Rudd of Kennett, Mo., and Jerry Westbrook and wife Karen of Denison, Texas; a brother, Lynn Hearn of Blytheville; sisters-in-law, Catherine Dobson of Maumelle and Mary Westbrook of Poquoson, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating and Emerson’s in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with grandsons Eric Knowles, Sam Bostic Jr., Ian Knowles, Ryan Knowles, Cody Westbrook, Johnny Rudd and longtime friend Drew Rudkin serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are other grandchildren — Kedryn Westbrook Clayton Westbrook, Spencer Westbrook, Colin Westbrook, Owen Westbrook, Sara Weaver, Stephanie Davis and Leigh Vanderholt.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday.

David L. Williams

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — David L. Williams of East St. Louis, Ill., was born Jan. 15, 1941. He died Dec. 1, 2010.

He was born to Maude and King Williams in Jonesboro. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.

Survivors include his companion of more than 30 years, Ruthie Jones of East St. Louis; daughters, Mia Williams and Nichole Jones of East St. Louis; son, David L. Williams Jr. of Newport; and daughter, Kim Watkins of Newport.

David also had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Johnny Williams of Great Falls, Mont., and Waldridge York of Jonesboro; sisters, Sallie Mae Stubbs, Sarah Williams and Carolyn York, all of Jonesboro, Deloris Wells of Chicago and Lena Sinks of Great Falls. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him very much. “We all will miss him.”

Services will be held at noon Friday at New Life Community Church, 1919 State St., East St. Louis, under the direction of Serenity Memorial Chapel, 3416 West Main St., Belleville, Ill.

James Roy Bratcher

ASH FLAT — James Roy Bratcher of Ash Flat died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at his home. He was 66 years old.

He was born July 22, 1944, at Senath, Mo., to the late Wilmer and Ester Verene Shaver Bratcher. He was married Oct. 20, 1974, at Williford to Mairlyn Scott; she preceded him in death.

He was a retired cook and an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.

Mr. Bratcher is survived by his daughter, Crystal Dawn Bratcher of Cherokee Village; and two grandchildren, Ruby Bratcher and Jonathan Baxter.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Higginbotham Funeral Service in Hardy.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Agnos Cemetery with Floyd Rikard officiating.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Huddle, Joe Allen Johnson, Nobel Shaver, Todd Shannon, Tyler Barker and Mike Carroll.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Main Street, Hardy.

Lawson Brawner

CABOT — Lawson Bond Brawner, 51, of Cabot, formerly of Wynne, died Monday, Jan. 3, at Wynne.

He was the chief pilot for Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. He was a member of Duck Club, Ducks Unlimited and National EMS Pilots Association.

Survivors are his wife, Victoria Lampkin Brawner of Cabot; son, Logan Bond Brawner of Wynne; daughters, Kalyn Barron Brawner of Wynne and Madison Michelle House of Cabot; parents, Harrell Eldridge Brawner Sr. and Ouida Huffstuttler Brawner of Wynne; brother, Harrell Eldridge Brawner Jr. of Wynne; and grandchildren, Kamden Collins, Brooklyn Brawner and Avery Hollingshead.

Visitation will be today from noon to 2 p.m. with services following in Kernodle Funeral Home chapel.

Nora Dacus

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Nora Demariless Dacus, 94, formerly of Walcott, passed away peacefully at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Saturday, Jan. 1, to join her beloved husband, Alvin.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Pansy Ruth and Curt Horn Sr. of St. Peters, Mo.; a son and wife, Lanny Ross and Ellen Dacus of St. Petersburg; grandsons and wives, Curt Horn Jr. and Mary of Taylors, S.C., James Matthew and Heidi Dacus of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Michael Edward Middleton of Gainesville, Fla.; granddaughters, Lisa Horn Schwegler of St. Peters, Robin Dacus Teel and husband Steven of Wyckoff, N.J.; great-grandsons, Curtis, Daniel, Ross, Gavin, Payne and Maxwell; great-granddaughters, Jessica and Kailyn; brother and wife, Chester and Christine May of Little Rock; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

She lived a full life and will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home. The celebration of her life will follow at 11 a.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel with Milton Davis May officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

James Edward Lyons

CARAWAY — James Edward Lyons, 74, of Caraway died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born March 5, 1936, at Memphis, he was the son of the late John and Mary Scott Lyons. Mr. Lyons enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching football.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie Dacus and husband Herb of Cherokee Village; four sons, James Lyons of Colorado, Chris Lyons, Barry Lyons and Joel Lyons, all of Memphis; and his longtime companion, Mrs. Mary Deleon of Caraway. Mr. Lyons also leaves six grandchildren.

The family has requested private services and disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.
