Ruby Jewel Stone

Ruby Jewel Stone, age 91, died Dec. 5, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Alton Carr of Lonoke; two stepsons, J.W. Stone and Delbert Stone of Conway; sisters, Purnia Hayes and Grace Morgan of Humnoke and Wilma Ingram of Little Rock; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Sunday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke, with interment in Flynn Cemetery.

Brenda Kay Hardin

Brenda Kay Hardin, 51, of Ward, died Saturday, Dec. 06, 2003.

She was an employee of Loreal USA. She attended the Austin Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Wayne Hardin of Ward; son, Douglas Wayne Hardin of Ward; daughter, Rhonda Kay Moore of Macon; brother, William Jerry Bayles of Bauxite; and one granddaughter.

Funeral will be Dec. 10, at Westbrook Chapel, with burial in Monk Cemetery, Ward.

John Calvin Burgess

John Calvin Burgess, age 76, of Cabot died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003. He was retired from Remington Arms, a deacon and church superintendent of Campground Union Church.

Surviving are his wife, Sidney; two daughters, Phyllis Childers of Mayflower and Tracy Martineau of Cabot; two stepsons, Tony Cathey and Terry Cathey, of Cabot; eight grandchildren, great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd Burgess of Austin, Earl and Robert Burgess, both of Cabot; three sisters, Louise Skinner of Austin, Patsy Dodd of Cabot and Marcie Watson of Benton.

Visitation was Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Funeral was Thursday, at Campground Union Church, Campground Road, Cabot, with burial in Sylvania Cemetery.

Jean Parsons

Jean Parsons, 76, of Cabot died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003. She was a resident of Graham’s Foster Home for the Elderly in Cabot.

Burial wasTuesday, Dec. 16 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Kenneth T. Woodall

Kenneth Thomas Woodall, age 73, of Beebe, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003. He was retired from Strickland Transportation Company and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Helen Woodall; three sons, Kenny Woodall of Beebe, Dale Woodall of Austin, Scott Woodall of Beebe; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clarice Murray of Traskwood, Laveta Caldwell of Cabot and Shirley Polk of Hobart, Okla.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003.

Funeral was Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at Westbrook Chapel, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.

Shane A. Sledge

Shane Anthony Sledge, 27, of El Paso died recently.

Survivors are his wife, Denetria; children, Hunter, Curtis and Elizabeth; his mother, Deborah; and sister, Crystal Sledge, all of El Paso.

A memorial service was held Dec. 12 at Ironton Baptist Church in Little Rock. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Home of Cabot.

Louise Edith Prewitt

Louise Edith Prewitt, 99, died Dec. 8, 2003.

Survivors are three grandchildren; a foster son, Paul Choate; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Dec. 19, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke.

Martha L. Wilson

Martha Looper Wilson, 79, of Cabot died Dec. 13, 2003.

Survivors are her children, Billy Wilson of Cabot, Troy Wilson of Rogers, Etta “Henrietta” Starkey, Pat Reyes and Diana Miller, all of Cabot; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 16 at the Roller-Drummond Southwest Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Dale Lynn Terrell

Dale Lynn Terrell, 40, of Dardanelle, died Dec. 8, 2003.

Survivors are his wife, Nora Terrell; his mother, Shirley Terrell; five children, Kimberley, Latasha, Justin, Heather and Jason Terrell; sisters, Carla Maxwell, Donna Raney and Paula Russell; and a brother, Paul Terrell.

Graveside service was Dec. 12 at Pisgah Cemetery, Pottsville, with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

A memorial fund has been set up at Grace Baptist Church, 408 N. Walkers Corner Rd., Scott, 72142.

Thomas F. Dunn Jr.

Thomas Frederick Dunn Jr., 90, of Bradford died Dec. 13, 2003.
He was a member of Bradford Baptist Church, retired carpenter, U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a 50 plus year member of Byers Lodge No. 81 F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evangeline Decker Dunn; eight children, Freddy Dunn of Mabelvale, Tommy Gene Dunn of Searcy, Sandra Singleton of Little Rock, Jimmy Dunn of Carlisle, Arthur Dunn of Bradford, Becky Singleton of Little Rock, Johnny Dunn of Bentonville, Rickey Dunn of Bradford; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Dunn of Bismark, Marvin Dunn of Bradford; two sisters, Wynlee Gay of Floral, Lucena Brady of Hot Springs.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Bradford Baptist Church with burial in Heard Cemetery in Bradford.

Ophelia Irene Parker

Ophelia Irene Parker, 57, died Dec. 8, 2003.

She is survived by two brothers, James Parker and Jesse Parker; and one sister, Kathryn Gray all of Little Rock.

Services were Dec. 10, at Huson Funeral Home, Little Rock, with interment at Hicks Cemetery in Lonoke County.

Jewell Mamie Dix

Jewell Mamie Bullington Dix went to be with her Lord Dec. 10, 2003. She was 91, a two year resident of Springcreek Living Center, Cabot, and longtime resident of Wynne, AR.

She was born in Jackson County near Hickory Ridge April 5, 1912. She held many job titles in her lifetime: farm worker, factory worker, cook and janitor at schools, homemaker. But her best remembered title was “Mom” to four children.
She left behind one son, Walter E. Newby of Wynne, AR; three daughters, Jean Stephens of Naples, Fla., Daisy (Dixie) McFarlin of Cabot and Carol Hutson of Marion, Ill.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren., and a host of neices, nephews and old friends as well as new ones. She will be missed, but, her joy will be complete with her Lord. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

One’s life cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs. Neither does it end at the moment of one’s death. We take nothing with us and leave behind seeds that continue to grow through those lives we touched. There will be something of Mom in all of us who knew her. She lives on through her children and forever with the Lord.

Funeral services were held Dec. 12, 2003 at Thompson/Wilson with burial at Crosslawn in Wunne.

Lester D. Didawick

Lester Donald Didawick, 64, of Cabot died Dec. 18, 2003.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Brammer; twp grandchildren; stepchildren, Bob McBride, Bryan McBride, Cheri Williams and their children.

Martha Laurene Gately, 80, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 at her home. She was a loving mother, homemaker, and former substitute teacher for Cabot Schools. Born November 8, 1923 to Charles and Ada Templeton, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Gately and her brother, Charles Templeton. She is survived by a daughter, Jo, and husband Samuel Howell of Cabot; a son, John C. and wife Laura Gately of Maumelle; five grandchildren, Laura Ferguson of Frisco TX, Brian and Steven Howell of Cabot, and Renee and Johnny Gately of Maumelle. There are also three grandsons, Grant, Matthew and Austin. Mrs. Gately leaves a host of friends at First Baptist Church of Cabot where she was a dedicated member for 55 years and volunteer at the FBC Care House and FBC Library.

Funeral services were Tuesday, December 23, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Cabot. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church Library. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.

Bobby Wilson, 69, of Cabot died Dec. 19, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertie Wilson; 3 brothers, Wilbert, James Odell and Ardith Wilson; 2 sisters, Viva Emmerling and Veda Fulmer. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Wilson of the home; son, Barry Wilson of Cabot; 2 daughters, Kathy Byrns of Cabot and Donna Lawson of Cassville, MO; brother; Walter Ozell Wilson of DE; 3 grandchildren, Patrick and Andrew Byrns, Samuel Lawson; several nieces and nephews

Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Services were Monday, Dec. 22 at 10 am at Briarwood Baptist Church with Brother Dave Reddoch officiating. A Masonic Service was held at the interment in Mt. Springs Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Briarwood Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

James A. Toney

James A. Toney, 67, of Jacksonville died Saturday, December 20, 2003. He was retired from the US Air Force and Pulaski Co. Special School District. Survivors are his wife, Virginia Toney; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Tony Russo; son, Robert Toney; 2 grandchildren, James and Jennifer McGinty ;1 great-grandchild, Zach Harvey.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 23 at 10 am at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
