Myrtle Darnell

Myrtle Darnell, age 75, of Beebe, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003. She was a retired nurse, known throughout the community. She was raised in the Beebe area by her mother and stepdad Ruby and Dewey Fields.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Doug de St. Felix of Cabot; two daughters, Pam Jackson of Antioch, Janee Bevill of Beebe; one brother, Jimmy Short of Beebe; three step-children, Jimmy Darnell of Conway, Carolyn Lovelady of Beebe and Barbara Paul of North Little Rock; and her grandchildren
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, Beebe. After the funeral, Myrtle will be cremated with burial at a later date in Beebe Cemetery.

Eva L. King

Eva L. King, age 93, of Des Arc, Arkansas, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003. She was a housewife and member of Crossroads Southern Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, William E. King of Crossroads; four sisters, Zola Pearl Brothers of Little Rock, Dean Earls, Daphana Johnson and Savannah Johnson, all of North Little Rock; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Crossroads Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Austin.

Dora M. B. Williams

Dora Marie Beverage Williams, 91, of Cabot passed away Dec. 29, 2003. She was preceded in death by two husbands, William E. Beverage and Ermon O. Williams. She is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Beverage of Ward and Charles Beverage of Cabot; daughter, Barbara Fulmer of Cabot; step-son, Clyde Williams of Morrilton; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Mt. Springs Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.

James Ellis

James Troy Ellis, 80 died Tuesday.

He was retired from Benton Packing Co. and the State of Arkansas. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Ruthie Ellis of Cabot; daughters, Bonnie Green of Cabot, Kay Fureigh of Russellville and Jeanie Valentine of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Joe Willis of Benton; sisters, Carolyn Byrd of Gulfport, Miss., and Margaret Weir; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was Friday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Sharon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, 38105.

Willie Taft Warner

Willie Taft Warner, 95, of Lonoke, died Dec. 25, 2003.

He was a veteran and member of Brownsville Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha; children, Tafa Dunlap of Lonoke, Joel Warner of Cabot and Phyllis Harris of Destin, Fla.; stepdaughters, Barbara Daughety of McKinney, Texas, and Linda Sunwall of Little Rock; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 27, at Brownsville Baptist Church with interment in Brownsville cemetery.

Lula Copeland

Lula Mae Blackwell Copeland, 77, of Mayflower died Dec. 28, 2003.
She was a member of Mayflower United Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by six children, Martha Malone of Ward, Jim and Bill of Jacksonville, Margie Cooper of Mayflower, Thomas of Romance, and Donald of Little Rock; 10 grandchildren; and a multitude of great and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Wednesday at Mayflower United Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

Louise Johnson

Louise Johnson, age 71, of Russellville, the widow of Delbert “D.G.” Johnson, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.

She was a cotton classer with the United States Department of Agriculture, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Formosa.

Survivors include a son David Johnson of Sherwood; a daughter, Brenda Fritz of Corinth, Texas; a brother, Luther Bryant of Springfield; five sisters, Ruth Williams of Springfield, Stella Foster of Morrilton, Shirley Shields of Paron, Gayle Williams of Benton, and Helena Dixon of Cabot; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 30, at the Shinn Chapel with burial in St. Joe Cemetery near Atkins, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Opal M. Jennings

Opal M. Jennings, 92, of Little Rock, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.

She was born in Cabot. She was a cook for Pulaski County Special School District, and was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church in Little Rock.

She is survived by one son, David Jenning of Monticello; four daughters, Jackie Garrett of Benton; Claudia Reynolds of Bryant; Elizabeth George of Beebe; and Nancy Cellamare of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Luck of Carlisle and Floy Crow of Mena; 15 grandchildren, and eight greatgrand-children.
A celebration in remembrance of Mrs. Jennings was held Dec. 31, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, Little Rock. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12 th, Little Rock, Ark., 72204.

Gerald Hall

Rev. Gerald Hall, 56, of Stuttgart died Saturday.

He was of the Pentecostal faith, having pastored churches in Benton and McCrory. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Marine Corps. While serving with the Golf 2/5 Marines, he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Gold Frame.

Survivors are his mother; wife, Georgia Virginia Hall; four daughters, Beverly Armstrong of Hope; Brenda Forrester of Stuttgart; Belinda Rybard of Malvern; Brandy Hall of Hot Springs; two sons, Bryan of Calico Rock and Brandon Hall of Grady; two stepchildren, Michael and Lisa Vaughn of Stuttgart; eight grandchildren ; one step-granddaughter; three brothers, Derald of Amity, Alvin of Gravel Ridge, Curtis of Paris, and one sister, Anna Mae Rouse of Cabot.
Funeral services were Dec. 30, at the Turpin Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

David E. Lane

David E. Lane, 62, died Dec. 26, 2003.

He was a retired employee of TWA, now American Airlines.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Lane; children, Kelly Howard of Ringling, Okla., and David McCauley of Marlow, Okla.; five grandchildren; sister, Teresa Lane of Renovo, Pa.; and brother, John Lane of Philadelphia, Pa.; four stepchildren; nine step-grandchildren ; and two step great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Dec. 30, 2003, at Old Austin Cemetery near Cabot. Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke was in charge.

Thelma Sutton Bone

Thelma Sutton Bone, 80, of Searcy, died Thursday.

Funeral services were Monday, Valley Baptist Church. Interment: White County Memorial Gardens. Powell Funeral Home, Searcy in charge.

Survivors: brothers, Vernon Sutton, Carlisle, Gary Sutton and Larry Sutton, both of Mountain View.

Jerrell Richey

Jerrell Richey, a resident of Zimmerman Nursing Home in Carlisle, died Dec. 23, 2003.

He is survived by a brother, Jimmy Richey; and a sister, Thelma Richey, both of Carlisle.

Graveside service was Friday at Flynn Cemetery, Humnoke, with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

James C. Choate

James Cleveland Choate, 87, of Conway, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at his home.

Born March 23, 1916 in Lonoke, son of the late James Eddy Choate and Ola Percy, he was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from General Motors Corp.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Ella Slaten Choate of Conway; three children, Richard Dale Choate and James Edward Choate, both of Conway, and Judy Foley of Oregon; two sisters, Lavern Sloan of Mississippi and Lila Westbrook of California; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at New Hope Baptist Church with John Greer officiating. Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Visitation was Tuesday at Griffin Leggett-Conway.

Mary Rebecca Taylor

Mary Rebecca Taylor, age 63, of Cabot, died Sunday Dec. 28, 2003 at her home. Retired from Arkla after 26 years of service. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Ward.

Survived by a son Billy Sherer, Jr. of Cabot; a daughter Pamela Horner of Cabot; mother Hazel Creasey of Cabot; brother Rev. Stanley Creasey of Harrison; three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at Campground Union Church. The family requests memorials be made to The American Diabetes. Association 212 Natural Resources Drive Little Rock, AR 72205. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Services in Cabot 713 So. Second St. (501) 941-7888.
