Judy Lynn Archer

Specialist E-4 Judy Lynn (King) Archer of Florida, formerly of England, Ark., went to be with the Lord March 28, 2003 at the age of 45.

She was blessed with the love of her husband, Michael Junior Archer; two beautiful children, Joshua White of North Carolina, and Dakota Lynn King of Arcadia, Fla. She was loved by her four sisters, Katherine Ward of Texas, Betty Troutman of California, Sheila Hall of Lonoke and Clara Chidester of Leola; three brothers, Sammie King of England, Calvin King of Lonoke and Bryan King of California; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Georgia King.
Judy was a mechanic specialist with the 4th Infantry Division for the United States Army.

Funeral service was 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Roberson Baptist Church, with interment in King Cemetery, with full military honors by Leonard Stark VFW Post 3543 Honor Guard, Heber Springs. Arrangements were by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Don L. Philpot

Don L. Philpot of Carlisle, a Christian, loving son, father, grandfather and friend, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, March 25, 2003, at age 75.

He was born Nov. 25, 1927, in England to Belle Jackson Lilly and the late Steve R. Philpot. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Lilly.

Don graduated from Carlisle High School at age 16 and attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Carlisle Masonic Lodge. He was a longtime member of Carlisle Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School secretary for many years. He enjoyed serving with the Carlisle Auxiliary Police and also served as a substitute mail carrier. He was retired owner and operator of Lilly Iron and Boiler Inc. as an irrigation well driller. Following that, he retired as a car salesman.

Don leaves to cherish his memory, his longtime companion, Janice Highfill of Carlisle; his 96-year-old-mother, Virginia “Belle” Lilly of Carlisle; a son, John F. Philpot of Conway; daughters, Lee Anne Hess of San Jose, Calif. and Donna Curry of Carlisle; a sister, Sandra Haddock of Texas; four grandchildren, Lee Wood of Conway, Suzanne Smiley of Morrilton, Allison and Andrea Hunt of Carlisle; two future great-grandchildren (to be born this year); and a host of friends.

Don never met a stranger.

A celebration of Don’s life was held at 2:30 p.m., March 28, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Carlisle, with interment in Carlisle Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Sterling E. Beasley

Sterling E. Beasley, 83, of Cabot passed away March 27, 2003.
Mr. Beasley was born May 5, 1919, was a retired dairy farmer from the Old Austin Community, and was a member of McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Katie Lee Beasley, and two sons, Jerry Don Beasley and Lloyd A. Beasley.
Mr. Beasley is survived by one daughter, Linda Provencal of Jacksonville, Fla. and two sons, Floyd Beasley of Hot Springs and Gene Beasley of Cabot; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 31, 2003 at McArthur Assembly of God in Jacksonville, with interment in Sylvania Cemetery. Arrangements were by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy.

Daisy Lou Staton

Daisy Lou Staton, 93, of Lonoke, died March 25, 2003.

She is survived by her husband of 76 years, J. D. Staton; two sons, Fred Staton of Kerman, Calif., P. D. Staton of Lonoke; three daughters, Velma Hill of Dumas, Macel Lassiter of Lonoke and Mary Lou Measels of Searcy; 18 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke, with interment in Legate Cemetery.

Georgia Corpier

Georgia A. (Odie) Russell Corpier, 90, of Carlisle died Sunday, March 30, 2003.

She is survived by three daughters, Frances Lipford, Medon, Tenn., Dorothy Brigham, Des Arc, Linda Oakley, Jonesboro; a son, Jeffrey Corpier, Carlisle; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan Russell, Prescott Valley, Ariz., and James Russell, Manhattan, Mont.; one sister, Algus Nokes, Blytheville.

Funeral was April 2, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.

Lester P. Squire

Lester P. Squire, age 90, of Hazen, died Saturday, March 29, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Jim R. Squire of Cabot; one daughter, Judy Gilmore of Hazen; and two granddaughters.

Graveside services were Tuesday, April 1, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Jacksonville.

Robert E.L. Snyder

Robert E.L. Snyder, age 72, died March 30, 2003.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Ruth Wheat Snyder of Humphrey; two sons, Richard Snyder and Gary Snyder and one daughter, Joanne Esquivel of Carlisle; 12 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday at Pentecostal Church of God, Humphrey with interment in Hamilton Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Iness Carpenter

Iness Rose Coffelt Carpenter, age 84, of Stuttgart died Saturday, March 29, 2003.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors are three sons, R. L. Carpenter of Stuttgart, Don Carpenter of Little Rock, Buford Carpenter of Furlow.; one daughter, Rona Jean Persons of Stuttgart; one sister, Drewsiller Brown of Carlisle; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Stuttgart with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpins.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church.

Laura Frances Stone

Laura Frances Cook Stone, 70, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, March 27, 2003.

She began working for Stanley Home Products in 1959, eventually becoming district sales manager. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Union Chapter #40.

Her survivors include her husband, John H. “Jack’’ Stone Jr. of Pine Bluff; two sons, Major (Ret.) John H. Stone III of Cabot, Rev. Doctor Ronald E. Stone of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Amy M. Hoover of Sheridan; six grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin Garnet Cook of Scott City, Mo., Allen Wayne Cook of Scott City, Mo., George Frederick Cook of Jefferson City, Mo., and James Edward Cook of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Carolyn Louise Brown of Scott City, Mo.

The funeral service was Monday, March 31, 2003, with interment at Brown Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorials take the form of contributions to the Order of the Eastern Star, Union Chapter #40, or First Presbyterian Church, 717 West 32nd, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71603, or a charity of your choice.

James E. “Jim” Bear

James E. Bear, age 77, of Sherwood, formerly of Del Rio, Texas and Austin, died March 26, 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joanne Beasley Bear; daughter, Linda Smith of North Little Rock; son, Jim Wyatt of North Little Rock, and son, Steven Bear of Ward; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Bear of New Waverly, Texas; a sister, Oleta Sandlin of Houston, Texas.
He was a 21 year retired Marine drill instructor & a lifelong patriot. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Del Rio, Texas.

The family asks that donations be made to Arkansas Research Center at UAMS, or church or Christian organization.
Memorial service was held March 28, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock.

Thelma E. Rausch

Thelma Elizabeth Rausch, 90, of Little Rock died Wednesday, March 26, 2003.

She was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Cabot. She was a lifelong member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Rudd Sunday School Class.

She is survived by daughters, Kay Maris of Harrison and Jane Markham of Little Rock; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Television Ministry, 4823 Woodlawn, Little Rock, Ark. 72205, or a charity of your choice.
